The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 152
Mi Young didn’t know how long she was walking and hiding behind buildings, all she remembers is the adrenaline rushing through her as she tries to conceal her mana and her whole aura while trying to find the location where Zhong Yu thinks Zed is hiding her heart.
The black haired girl still couldn’t grasp the whole idea of having a witch’s heart separated from her body. She couldn’t believe that there are some Mages out there that are willing to do anything just to achieve what they think are true powers.
The young student bites her lip as she continues hiding behind the shadows of the buildings and trees so Zed couldn’t see her. She once argued with Zhong Yu about it, that if Zed really had control over this place then she could feel her presence. The other party agreed to her but then he started mentioning about the witch not knowing the young girl’s abilities and aura so if this place is indeed true and not part of her illusion ability, then she won’t feel the girl’s presence given that there are thousands of Mages out there too. Mi Young hopes that Zhong Yu’s theory is right. If not, then she hopes that she’ll be able to withstand the upcoming battle she is forced to face.
A few more walks and running, Mi Young can finally see the tower Zhong Yu was talking about. It was still a couple of kilometers away from her but she could already see the tip of the said tower. Zhong Yu said that that tower was once the one and only library of the whole Mage kingdom. People from every town used to go there just to read books, but when the city of Furotingu decided to vanish to the eyes of the many, people started building their own libraries inside their towns and cities. However, even though the Mage’s Tower – this is what they call the library – has been forgotten by the many, it still holds the first records of every scholar and Mages in town.
Mi Young asked Zhong Yu why it was the place Zed chose to hide her heart, but the other party only shrugged and said that he just had a huge feeling that it would be the right place where Zed would hide her human heart knowing that it was the tower where she grew up.
When Mi Young was about to come out from the abandoned shop where she was hiding a huge rumble made her go back inside. She can feel her heart pounding inside her chest as she slowly rises from behind the counter where she was hiding just to check what it was. The black haired girl couldn’t stop her eyes from widening even more when she saw what was causing the continuous rumbling.
Hundreds of beasts, huge and small, were marching off towards one direction. When Mi Young followed the path where they were going, she realized it was the same road that leads to the heart of the city. The young girl couldn’t stop from biting her lips as she looked back and forth between the road that led towards the heart of the city and towards the tower where she needed to go.
If she let those beasts march off towards the city without warning everyone and Zhong Yu, chances are the people there would get totally wiped out. However, if she let this moment go she would never get the chance to go back to the tower and search for Zed’s heart – which means their plan would fail.
Mi Young contemplates while looking back and forth towards the two opposite directions. She was torn between two important things. She never felt so miserable and confused at the same time before and it was making her head ache. The young girl watches as the beasts start marching off towards the heart of the city with huge and aggressive strides. The black haired girl shuts her eyes as she prays to the gods and to whoever was watching her that the choice she made was the right one. Without blinking twice, the young girl runs off towards the opposite direction.
“Se Heon!”
Shang Min and Jong In both shouted at the same time as they ran towards their friend.
When they finally caught up with their friend, Jong In was the first to grab Se Heon which made him stop walking. He also didn’t waste any time before he gripped the taller boy’s shoulders and forced him to face him. “Man, what was that?”
“What was what?” Se Heon asks with emotionless eyes.
Jong In didn’t know why he was able to withstand the icy and cold stare Se Heon was giving him but he couldn’t care less anymore. “That thing with Principal Oh! Why were you so rude? And to think that you also have the guts to spout nonsense and drop out in front of her? What’s going on with you, man?”
“Nonsense? Do you think being concerned with a friend like Mi Young is nonsense? If you think that way, don’t even call yourself her friend!” Se Heon fires back while glaring at the other party, finally showing some emotions.
JongIn looks taken aback at first after hearing Se Heon’s words but it somehow made his blood boil knowing that Mi Young is a really special friend for him. He steps forward and without batting a single lashes, he grips Se Heon’s collar even though the other party is two inches taller than him. “I don’t care if you’re the son of whatever clan but if you say something bad about my friendship with Mi Young then I’m going all out.”
Despite the warning and challenging tone from the other man, Se Heon only let out a laugh. “You call that friendship when you let other people dictate how you save her? Pathetic.”
After that, Se Heon grips Jong In’s hands that were gripping his collar and pushes him away with a little force. He then jabs a finger at the other party’s chest before saying, “If you are really Mi Young’s friend you won’t let anything happen to her. Not even the slightest bit.”
“Guys…” Shang Min whispers between them as she tries to break the two men off.
Jong In was about to protest and tell Se Heon that he was wrong but the taller boy beat him to it as he continued with his lecture. “Let’s say she really did leave the academy on her own free will but do you think she would do it without any reason? Do you think she would risk something as important as her scholarship for a small issue? Think about it. If you really are her friend then you know how important it is for her to get to this school!”
After saying that, Se Heon steps back before shaking his head disappointingly at Jong In. “I hope Mi Young forgives you once you see each other again.”
Then, without nothing else to say, the taller man leaves the two other students with their eyes widened and mouths hanging open.
Se Heon walks back towards his own room in silence. After his argument with the principal and his lecture with Jong In, his head wouldn’t stop from aching. Even though he had already drunk three glasses of water in one go, the ache still won’t stop. The young man wonders if it was really his head that was aching or was it because of too much thinking.
The moment he woke up, the first person he wanted to see was Mi Young. It was only natural because she was also the last person he had seen before losing his consciousness. However, the nurse didn’t let him go out at first. She did some serious check-ups first before calling out Ji Sung. After that, the older party managed to lock him up in his room for a week saying that he still needs to recover before he can go out and venture back to the academy. Se Heon agreed to it since he still wasn’t feeling himself after waking up. He really wanted to see Mi Young but Ji Sung managed to convince him that Mi Young wouldn’t like it if she saw him in such a weak state so he opted to recover inside the walls of his room for another week.
However, just before he can finally recover, he heard Ji Sung and the rest talking about a female student going out from the academy’s walls without permission from the heads. He thought it was just some stupid and foolish student who wanted to prove themselves but the moment Ha Na said Mi Young’s name, Se Heon’s mind went blank. The only thing that was going around his mind was one word, “Why?”
After that, he barged out from his room and demanded an explanation from the people who had gathered at their common room. No one wanted to talk to him at first saying that he was just stressed until he managed to squeeze Ji Sung for some answers. That’s when they explained to him that Mi Young, together with another student, Kwang Soo, left the school for almost a week now. Se Heon didn’t waste any time before he barged out of their dorm as he went straight towards the principal’s office. And now he’s here.. Back at his room, still thinking why Mi Young left the academy.
