The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 156
Mi Young runs as fast as she can to get to the highest building in the heart of Furotingu. She wondered if she’ll be able to pull her moves now. They’re running out of time and the beasts are still marching towards where the people are. Mi Young hoped their plan would succeed. Even though she’s not from this city, she still wants to save these people from pain and death.
On her way towards the building where Zhong Yu tasked her to go, she sees a child crying out for her parents. The child looked like she was just five to six years old and she was crying so hard. The child was also dirty, and Mi Young thinks it’s because of falling to the ground a couple of times.
The black haired girl immediately halts her running and walks towards the crying child in faster strides. She crouches down to be eye level with the young girl, “Hey sweetheart, where are your parents?”
The child just looked at her in the eyes and continued crying. Not even saying a single word.
“Do you know where you last saw your mommy and daddy?” Mi Young continued to ask despite the child’s continuous bellows. “Come on, you can tell me so I can help you find them.”
Upon hearing the words coming out from the stranger’s mouth, the child stops shouting and looks at Mi Young once more. There were tears still streaming down her face but the black haired girl can see that she was trying her best not to cry anymore. “Y-You know where mommy is?”
“I can if you show me where she left you earlier.” Mi Young says with a kind and friendly smile, as to not scare the child.
“I…I can show you.” The little girl says before she starts grabbing the helm of the young girl’s cape and starts pulling Mi Young towards the direction where she thinks her mommy was. They stopped in front of a shop that looked like a salon. “M-Mommy works here but when the bad lady arrived, she told me to hide on the counter and I n-never saw her again.”
Mi Young looks at the shop and tries to see what was inside. She could see from afar that there was no one inside the shop but she noticed that the front glass of the shop was already shattered and there were even blood marks splattered on the floor.
The black haired girl moves her eyes towards the young child who was already looking at the scene in front of them.
“Is mommy inside?” The child asks, voice quivering in fear.
“I don’t know but do you want to make me check if your mommy is still inside?”
The young child nodded her head at Mi Young while looking at her big round innocent eyes. Somehow, it reminded the black haired student of her old self when she was full of questions about this and that. “I want to see mommy.”
The black haired girl was planning to leave the child just outside but seeing that everything was still in chaos, people running and shouting from every direction and small beasts leaping from one person to another, the student decided that it’s best to just bring the child with her.
So with a deep sigh, Mi Young carries the little girl in her arms before they walk inside the ruined and abandoned salon.
When Mi Young entered the place she noticed that there were blood marks everywhere. However, there was no sign of a body. Mi Young wondered if the person was able to escape.
“Is this mommy’s blood?”
Mi Young bites her lip while looking at the young child. “I don’t know, sweetheart. But let’s just hope that it’s not mommy’s okay?”
The young girl nodded her head. Mi Young wondered how such a young child can act so maturely in front of something that a child her age must not have understood yet.
The black haired girl then started to walk towards the inner part of the salon where she thinks was the staff room. She followed the droplets of blood and hoped to see a body or just anything that could explain who was the owner of the blood.
Mi Young then opens the door towards the stuff room. At first, they saw nothing. However, just as they turned around the room, something gruesome met their eyes.
The young Mage didn’t know what happened next but all she could remember was the loud shriek coming from the young child in her arms.
A small scavenger beast was eating a lifeless body on the floor which immediately leaped towards them the moment their eyes met. Mi Young remembers drawing out an immediate and strong fireball and firing it directly towards the beast who shrieked in agony at first before disintegrating into thin air.
When the beast was gone, Mi Young immediately wrapped her arms around the crying child.
She doesn’t know who that person was but based on the young girl’s cries, it was her mother.
“Come on, it’s not safe here.” The black haired girl says as she comforts the young child who was still crying at her shoulders. When Mi Young was about to exit the room, the child stopped her.
“I want to say goodbye to my mommy.” The voice of the child says. It sounded so soft yet you can also hear the pain and loneliness that comes with it. However, what shocked Mi Young was the fact that the child looked like she just accepted her mommy’s fate.
Seeing as the child wouldn’t go out unless her wish is granted, Mi Young slowly put her down. The young girl instantly ran towards her mommy’s disintegrated form before she kissed her forehead and said a small prayer.
It looks painful. The scene unfolding in front of her was too much for her heart. A young child who wasn’t supposed to witness something like this was able to say her goodbyes to her mother at such a young age.
Mi Young’s eyes immediately darken when she remembered who caused this all.
“I swear to god I will kill Zed with my own two hands.” The black haired student whispers as she looks at the child who was now getting up to fetch some cloth on the bench in the corner of the room. Her chubby legs running back towards her mother as she gently puts over the mantle on top of her mom.
“Bye momma. I love you.”
“I know you’re here. I can smell you.” Se Heon announces while glaring at a giant tree in front of him.
There was silence at first followed by the slow clapping of hands. Seconds later, Zhong Liu emerges from the shadows of the tree.
“Your dog’s nose is really good. I wondered how trained you are.” The teacher says while giving the young student a sly and challenging smirk.
“I don’t know what’s up with you and dogs but I’m sure as hell you were also one long before your time.” Se Heon fires back. He smirks when he notices the smile from the teacher’s face slowly fading away. Then, the student cocks his head to the side, “Not so good when you’re at the receiving end, eh?”
“I’m only helping you out because I know how important you are to my students but if not, I would never help out a Jeon kid like you.” Teacher Zhong Liu announces. His smirk long gone as he eyes the tall student with awful seriousness. “Tell me, how did you escape my prison?”
“What can I say? You’re not the only one who knows some tricks.” Se Heon replies while giving the man a sly smirk, very much like the smirk the other party was sending him earlier.
This seemed to irk the teacher a little bit because Se Heon noticed his other eye squinting just for a little bit. “Is that so? Then how were you able to be imprisoned by it if you’re that good?”
“I was caught off guard.” Se Heon replies coolly. “You’re full of tricks.”
“And you’re full of sh*t.”
“Tell me, Sir Zhong Liu, why do you hate our clan that much?” Se Heon questions. Although he was partly being arrogant, his question was a hundred percent genuine. He always wondered how the teacher was able to keep all this much hate for their clan in one single body.
“Trust me, little Jeon. Hate is such a small word for it.”
“Why? Why do you want to massacre our clan?” Se Heon asks, this time, his voice sounded somehow angry.
Zhong Liu raised an eyebrow while looking at him. It’s obvious that he wasn’t expecting that question coming out from the young man’s mouth. “I’m surprised you know about my future plans but yes, I hate your clan so much to the point where I want to massacre every single one of your blood.”
“As I have said, why?”
“Because your ancestors were the sole reason why we are experiencing this right now.”
