The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 162
“I…”
“That’s because someone, someone who works with the dark side, is whispering things to them.” Hae Choon finally says.
Mi Young looks at the other party with widened eyes. “So they’re trying to control the Ancient beings? Why?”
“Why? Simply because they can’t face the Great Sage alone. They know that they are no match for the Great Sage, that’s why instead of facing him directly they managed to control the Ancient beings and told them things so that they would finally make a move and turn their backs against us.” Hae Choon replies while clenching his fists in anger.
“Who do you think is doing this?” Mi Young asks. She had an inkling feeling who was responsible for this chaos they were experiencing right now but she doesn’t want to admit it herself.
“I think the Dark twin finally went out of her sealed world.” The other party says, not looking at Mi Young at all.
Mi Young expected Hae Choon’s answer but she still felt shivers running down her spine the moment Hae Choon said those words.
“Why now?”
Instead of answering her, Hae Choon just looked at Mi Young straight in the eyes for a couple of minutes before sighing and shaking his head. “It’s not the right time to talk about it. Anyway, why are you here again? Oh, right! You’re here to get up the tower.”
Mi Young really wanted to ask more about it to the other party but it was obvious Hae Choon was trying to dodge the topic. So the black haired girl just remained silent before nodding her head towards the other party. “Yeah. Can you help me find a way so I can go upstairs?”
“It would be my pleasure. But before that, can you help me kill this beast first? I’m itching to have my hands slice through its throat for weeks.” Hae Choon says with determination and pure conviction.
“Sure, I can help you with that. But can you tell me some things about it? And what’s with the no light bulb thing? What does it have to do with this certain beast?” Mi Young questions.
Hae Choon got up before clasping his hands together. “The One-Eyed Ram is basically the only beast of its form. Yes, that’s right. It has been here in this kingdom for more than a millennia. Anyway, it’s the only One-Eyed Ram that ever existed. It’s called the One-Eyed Ram because—”
“Because what? Let me guess, it only has one eye?” Mi Young questions with sarcasm.
Hae Choon didn’t mind her but still continued his explanation. “Correct. However, even though it still has one eye, this beast is completely blind. Like it has no eye sight or whatsoever at all.”
“Why? Does it have to do with its age? I mean, it has been alive for generations, right?”
“No.” Hae Choon shakes his head. “I wish it was that simple. But the One-Eyed Ram has an eye that can see auras. However, it can only see a Mage’s aura if everything around it is bright enough.”
“So that’s why you destroyed all the light bulbs here because you don’t want the One-Eyed Ram to sense you?”
Hae Choon nodded his head in confirmation. “Yes. That f*cking bitch almost tore me to pieces on our first encounter. Can you believe a Ram can stay for almost an hour on the ceiling?”
“I-It was hiding on the ceiling?” Mi Young asks, bewildered.
“I know. It sounds unbelievable and stupid but its’ true. That big one-eyed sh*it is so full of tricks that’s why I had a hard time hunting him down.” Hae Choon explains.
“Can I ask if those bloods are out there…?”
“Unfortunately some people think I also died so they continued sending out Mages to deal with the tower. They think some voodoo sh*It is happening here. No one knows that an actual beast is inhabiting the entire floor, causing terrors all over.”
“Why aren’t the clock tower’s management not doing anything?”
“Who would let a savage beast live inside their tower?” Hae Choon asks sarcastically. However, it made sense to the black haired girl somehow.
“So almost everyone around us is against us. That’s just great!” Mi Young replied with another sarcastic tone.
“Hey at least we’ve got each other’s back.” The other party tried to say to lighten up the somber mood.
“That’s true.”
“And we’ve got hot-headed Zhong Yu. So that’s even better.” Hae Choon added with a sly smirk and a wink.
“Wait, speaking of Zhong Yu. Do you think Lady Ning Gwang already knew what was happening around us?” Mi Young asks. For some reason her heart started pounding like crazy inside her chest. She remembered that she and Kwang Soo left their teacher inside their room. For sure, the teacher was already looking for them, right?
“Oh I’m sure she’s already up to something. Just believe in her. I think she’s slowly making her move now. Out of the six of us, Ning Gwang was always the first to sense danger. That’s why she became our leader.” Hae Choon explains with a smile. There was also a reassuring tone in his voice which somehow made the black haired girl feel at ease.
“You’re right. Teacher is really powerful as well so I’m sure she’s already escaped here.”
“Nah. Ning Gwang’s dignity and loyalty says otherwise.” Hae Choon says with a snort.
“What do you mean?”
“Knowing her, she didn’t escape here. I think she’s on her way to save her two students so continue living, okay? So you could meet with your teacher afterwards. Tell her you survived this chaos and that she should reward you by raising up your rank.”
“My rank?” Mi Young asks. “What about my rank?”
Hae Choon instantly whipped his head towards the black haired girl. “You don’t know about the Apprentice’s Rank?”
Mi Young slowly shakes her head.
“Oh my god, did Ning Gwang really teach you something?” Hae Choon asks with a shocked face.
“Hey, she taught me a thing or two!”
“Like what? Sitting prettily in times of danger?” Hae Choon jokes out. When he felt the black haired girl’s glare he apologized before saying an explanation, “But really, Ning Gwang is indeed good with that.”
“With what?”
“Sitting prettily in times of danger.”
Mi Young couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the other party again. “It’s not the right time—”
BANG!
A sound that resonated all over the building floor stopped the black haired girl from talking.
Mi Young looks at the door before asking Hae Choon a small whisper of “What was that?”
“It’s here.” The man replies before he stands up, grabs something from the couch that looks like a bag filled with many objects and starts walking towards the door in fast and long strides.
Hae Choon was inches from the door when Mi Young grabs him. “Wait! Where are you going?”
“I’m going to kill that beast.” Hae Choon replies like it was the most obvious answer.
The black haired girl rolled her eyes at him. “I know. But are you going to barge in there like a suicidal maniac with no plan?”
Hae Choon looks taken aback for a second, like he just realized what he was doing wrong this entire time. “Oh sh*t. I forgot about a plan.”
Mi Young crosses her arms while looking at the other party with disappointment. “That’s why you can’t kill that beast because you act on your instincts. People without a plan always fail.”
“And I’m guessing you heard that from Ning Gwang?” Hae Choon asks with a glint in his eyes.
Mi Young shrugs at him. “Maybe. Maybe not.”
BANG!
There’s another sound coming from anywhere around them that somehow resembles an object hitting metal. Hae Choon’s ears immediately perked up the moment he heard it. “Sh*t! It got into my trap!”
“Your trap?” Mi Young asks. “How’d you know?”
“There’s no metal here except for my trap!” Hae Choon says in excitement. He pulled down the bag on his shoulders and went to fetch something from inside it. “Sh*t. Where is it….Ah! There you go!”
“What’s that?” The black haired girl asks while pointing at the thing on the other party’s hands.
“This, my dear, is a spear.”
“A spear?”
Hae Choon nodded his head. “Uhn. You’ll know more about it soon, I know it’s your first time seeing it. Anyway, I have infused this spear with my mana power and mana energy to the point that whichever creature is hit by it will be overloaded with mana which will result in it exploding.”
“You can do something like that?” Mi Young asks in astonishment.
“What? Overload someone else’s mana using your own mana?” Hae Choon asks while looking at Mi Young innocently.
“No. Infused an unknown object with your mana.” Mi Young asks, still eyeing the spear. She knows she never saw something like that before but for some reason, she thinks she has seen a spear before.. But she doesn’t know where.
