The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 163
“I told you, you’ll know more about it once everything is over.” Hae Choon says as he fishes more things from his backpack. “Or maybe during the fight? I don’t know but I promise you you’ll find your answers soon.”
“You sound suspiciously like her.” Mi Young says while squinting her cat-like eyes towards the other party.
Hae Choon stops whatever he was doing and blinks up at the young girl, “Who’s her?”
“The lady from—”
BAM!
“What was that?” Mi Young asks, completely forgetting about her sentence seconds ago. She looked at Hae Choon who was looking at the side of the building where the sound was coming from. “Hae Choon, please tell me it’s not a bad sign.”
“It’s not.” Hae Choon says as he prepares more things. “But it could be if I don’t get faster now.”
“What? Why?” Mi Young asks, sounding a little more panicked than the other party.
“Just stop asking questions and let me catch this beast first.” The other party says.
Mi Young nodded her head vigorously before asking the man, “Okay, what should I do?”
“Let me think…” Hae Choon says. Mi Young was about to scold him and tell him off but the moment her eyes landed at the man’s form, she was shocked to see that the other party was indeed thinking. He was looking at his spear like he was about to make the biggest decision of his life.
“Hae Choon, are you….okay?” The black haired girl asks in a small and concerned voice.
A few seconds later, the other party blinks up at her before smiling wickedly at the young girl. “You said something about making a plan, right?”
“I don’t like where this is going.” Mi Young starts to say but Hae Choon continued smiling slyly at her.
When he realized what Mi Young was saying, he pouted and whined. Like a real and childish whine, “Come on! You’re the one who suggested that I have some plan!”
“I did! But as long as the plan is valid and reasonable!” Mi Young pushes.
“My plan is valid and reasonable!”
“Oh yeah? Let’s hear it then!” Mi Young challenges.
The other party gladly told her about his own plan. A few minutes later, the black haired girl backs away and scoffs at the other party while crossing her arms, “No way.”
“Come on, it will work! Plus the beast doesn’t know someone is here with me. It might be blind without light and without its hearing but it’s not easy to defeat!” Hae Choon reasons out. “This can be a great chance to capture and kill it! Without the beast knowing about your presence it would definitely be our win!”
“How can you say that with so much joy and with a smiling face?” Mi Young asks, totally offended.
“Because it’s fun! And I’m positive that it will work.” The other party tries to say, voice sounding convincing and confident.
Mi Young throws another deadly glare at the other party, “The more I look at you, the more I don’t trust this plan.”
“It’s easy! All you have to do is—”
“—sneak up behind the beast while you try to get its attention. Afterwards, if you have finally sealed its legs inside the cage you made, I can go up on its head and stick that spear of yours straight to its brain which is also the location of its heart.” Mi Young finishes the other party’s sentence without blinking an eye.
Hae Choon was smiling hugely at her after she finished her words, “Yes! That’s it. It’s easy, right?”
“Why do I have to sneak up behind it and go on top of its body? Why don’t you do it?”
Hae Choon sighs once more as if he was getting frustrated with the black haired girl’s questions as if her task was that easy to begin with, “I told you, the beast only thinks that I’m alone. If I keep on getting its attention it will keep on thinking that no one is with me. There’s no one else better than you.”
“Uh huh. You can’t convince me with your flowery words.” Mi Young says while crossing her arms once more and rolling her eyes at the other party.
“Come on, Mi Young! Pleeeease.”
“Why are you so excited with these as if it’s not a life and death situation?” Mi Young questions the other party.
Hae Choon freezes for a moment. He went so still that the black haired girl was afraid she had hit a sensitive memory towards the other party. She was about to apologize for her loud and loose mouth but then Hae Choon started telling her his reason.
“I told you I was a Master Blacksmith back in my hometown, right?” Hae Choon asks in a sad and longing voice. Mi Young couldn’t form any words so she just responded by nodding her head. And so the other party continues, “Anyway, after I have made Ireene meet her downfall, I have stopped making weapons. I never had the heart to pursue my passion when the love of my life was gone and buried deep underground with no one else with her, not even the sun’s rays that she loved so much.”
Mi Young gulped down as she felt the wave and overwhelming emotions of the other party. She had never felt such strong feelings before and somehow it was making her knees feel weak just by getting a glimpse of the boy’s raw feelings.
“And so I promised myself that I will only make weapons if I find another purpose in doing so. After I met this beast, I dreamt of Ireene. Well, technically, I have always dreamt about her. But all of those dreams would always end up being a nightmare since all I can see and remember is her pained shouts and helpless cries of wanting to get out of her cells. But this time, I dreamt of Ireene smiling and telling me to get back to my passion. To help those who need me and continue spreading my skills to everyone.”
Hae Choon stops for a minute as he looks up at the ceiling. Mi Young swore she saw the other party’s eyes glistening with unshed tears but she decided to stay silent about it, just basking in the overwhelming waves of the other party’s emotions.
“And so I made this spear.” Hae Choon continued while raising the spear in his hands. “It’s not yet complete but once it’s done it will be the first ever weapon I made after such a long break. This will also be the weapon that symbolizes my promise to Ireene. A promise that would free her from her chains and from her longtime prison.”
Then Hae Choon returned his gaze back at the black haired girl, and with a determined and pleading voice he said, “So please, help me complete this dream of mine.”
And who is Mi Young to say no to such honest and raw emotion? Who is she to deny the man the happiness and the freedom he has always longed for? Who is she to decline her friend?
With a determined nod, the black haired student smiled at the other party before saying, “Okay. I’ll do it.”
“What the hell is this?” Se Heon asks while he looks everywhere around him.
“Oh, this? This is only the beginning of the chaos your family has made for the last thousands of years.” Zhong Liu says with a dark chuckle. He pats the students back to let him see who was walking in front of them. “Look.”
Zhong Liu sees Hae Choon’s eyes widening as he recognizes the person who was walking just a few feet away from them. Immediately, the student went to his knees and bow, “Oh, great Ancestor Jeon! My name is—”
Se Heon immediately stops talking when he feels the other party walk past him. When he looks up, he sees the teacher Zhong Liu laughing at him like he was the biggest joke ever made. “W-What?”
“Child, we’re inside my memories. People like your ancestors couldn’t see you nor hear you. There’s no need for formal introductions. Besides, they’re already dead. Why bother introducing yourself to them?”
Se Heon glared at the teacher as he stood up and dusted his robe in embarrassment. “You could have told me sooner!”
“But I wouldn’t get to see that hilarious moment!” Zhong Liu continues to tease. This earned another glare from the other party.
“Cut it off!” Se Heon says as he throws a middle finger at the teacher.
“Anyway, kidding aside, let’s follow him.” Zhong Liu says when he noticed that the memory of the first Jeon was starting to walk further away from them.
Se Heon seemed to realize it as well as he instantly looks behind them and sees that his ancestor was slowly getting away from their sight. “Where is he going?”
“You’ll see..” Zhong Liu replies, voice sounding much graver than usual.
