The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 167
Mi Young continued pouring her heart out as well as her worries while she hugged Hae Choon’s form. The other party was like a big brother to her so his death made her feel so devastated. However, upon hearing Soo Young’s words and seeing the man wake up from his deep slumber earlier, the joy Mi Young felt made her forget about their situation for now.
“I thought you promised not to use the Killing Technique even if you’re facing your worst enemy?!” Mi Young scolds while she gently shakes Hae Choon’s form.
However, after all the things she had said the moment the other party woke up, she never heard a word coming from Hae Choon. Puzzled, Mi Young finally disentangled herself from Hae Choon so she could look at his face.
The moment her eyes met the other party’s, Mi Young was surprised to see nothing but confusion reflecting on Hae Choon’s eyes, which also resulted in the black haired girl getting confused as well.
“W-What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like you have seen a ghost?” Mi Young asks, even letting out an awkward laugh as she looms at the other party.
A few seconds passed by but she still wasn’t getting any reaction from the other party. Not even a nod or what. So Mi Young got even more confused and scared. “Hey, Hae Choon. Say something.”
The other party blinked at her before clearing his throat. “I…I’m…”
Mi Young waited for the other party to finish his sentence. Hae Choon’s voice sounded raw like his throat was so dry he could barely talk, “Yes? What? Are you okay?”
Hae Choon shook his head. “N-No. I…just…”
“Hae Choon, is there something wrong? Tell me. Does it hurt?” Mi Young continued to ask, she was getting seriously scared because of the other party’s silence.
Hae Choon sighed before raising his hands to let Mi Young know that he wanted to talk. So the black haired girl nodded and remained silent. Then, Hae Choon decided to open his mouth. “I just…”
The other party stops talking again, it’s as if he was having a hard time telling the black haired girl what was wrong but Mi Young remained silent so the other can continue talking. After a couple of times of hesitating, Hae Choon finally decided to speak up. Mi Young noticed how the boy drew in a sharp breath before opening his mouth, “Do…Do I know you?”
The moment those words left the other party’s mouth the black haired girl decided to laugh. “That’s a funny joke.”
“I’m not joking. I really don’t know you.” Hae Choon says with a poker face. This immediately made the other party stop laughing.
Mi Young realized how grave the situation is. “D-Do you really not remember me?”
Hae Choon shakes his head in a calm manner. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s me. Mi Young. Kang Mi Young?” The black haired girl pushes.
Hae Choon sighs and with an apologetic look he says to the young girl, “I don’t know when did I meet you but I’m sure we’ve been through a lot seeing as you were so concerned for me earlier, thanks by the way. But I really can’t remember a thing about you. Nor why am I here covered in white dust that only appears if someone uses the Killing Technique.”
“Sh*t. You don’t remember a single thing about our mission?”
“What mission?” Then Hae Choon’s eyes suddenly widened as if he realized something. “Did I accidentally join a group of rebels?!”
It was Mi Young’s turn to look confused, “Uhmm no? What are you talking about?”
Hearing Mi Young’s reply, Hae Choon let out a sigh of relief as if the other party’s confirmation was such a big deal to him. “Oh, good. I thought I joined a rebel group which brainwashed me. That’s why I can’t remember a single thing or two.”
“What rebel group are you even talking about?” Mi Young asks. She was getting confused about everything now.
Hae Choon cocks his head to the side, “The rebel group against my clan? They’re all over the city now, you know. They wanted to overthrow my father so I got scared since I thought someone from the rebels abducted me and made me join them by manipulating my head.”
Upon hearing Hae Choon’s words, Mi Young’s world suddenly stops spinning. Why is Hae Choon talking like he was in a different timeline? Then, a thought flashed in the young girl’s confused head.
Slowly, she gulps down a lump of saliva and very carefully she asks, “Hae Choon, who is the king right now?”
“King? There’s no king in our town.” Hae Choon replies with a confused look. Then he looks at the black haired girl as if she was crazy, “Are you sure you’re okay? What King are you talking about?”
Mi Young’s realization shocked her so much that knees buckled making her fall on her butt. “Holy sh*t.”
“What? Are you okay?” Hae Choon asks as he looks at the young girl, “Hey, uhmm Miss…Kang? Are you sure you’re fine?”
“Hae Choon,” Mi Young starts to say, “Let me tell you about everything.”
Mi Young spent hours explaining everything to the confused man. At first, the other party wouldn’t believe her and called her names and even had the audacity to say that Mi Young was a cunning liar and a spy. But, the moment she explained to him and showed him the pile of dust coming from the One-Eyed Ram’s body, Hae Choon stopped talking and remained silent until Mi Young ended her story.
“And that’s why you’re here. I don’t know why you can’t remember a single thing about everything but I’m sure as hell it has something to do with what Soo Young told me earlier.” Mi Young calmly explains while looking at Hae choon was blanking staring at the cold hard floor. The black haired girl felt pity towards the man. It must have been hard not remembering a single thing about everything that happened to your life.
“Hey,” Mi Young says while grabbing the other party’s shoulder and squeezing it to comfort Hae Choon, “I know it’s hard but I’m sure Soo Young and the others can help you with your problem. So don’t think too much about it, yeah?”
Hae Choon remained silent but after a couple of minutes he started to talk, “I…I set Ireene to prison?”
Mi Young was quite surprised with the other party’s question. Of all the things she has said, she was quite surprised to know that Hae Choon still cared about Ireenre’s well-being more than his own. Seeing as the other party was waiting for her answer, all Mi Young could do was nod her head.
“Why would I do that?” Hae Choon asks, still can’t believe what he had done to the person he loves most.
Mi Young shrugs, “I don’t really know because you never really explained everything to me but I think it got something to do with jealousy.”
“Damn.” Hae Choon whispers. Then, he looks at the black haired girl once more, “You said something about the One-Eyed Ram annihilating my whole clan. But today is the day I took my revenge for them and killed it using the Killing Technique which resulted in me almost dying and the reason why I can’t remember everything except the memories that I still have on me right now?”
“Yes to everything.” Mi Young answers with all honesty.
“That’s a lot…”
“I know. So you should stop thinking about it for now and focus on healing your internal wounds as well as replenishing your mana.” Mi Young says while giving the other party a small smile. “Soo Young said she’s with the others. I don’t know who she was talking about but I think they’re coming for us.”
“I hope so and so I can tell that midget to heal my brain because I badly want to remember everything already.” Hae Choon says with a tone of desperation.
Mi Young offered the other party another comforting smile, “I’m sure they’ll come.”
“Speaking of friends, how did we become friends again?”
“We bumped into each other because coincidentally you and I were going to the same place. You were trying to save Ireene and I’m trying to save a friend of mine who also went there.” Mi Young says, slightly laughing at the memory. It felt like it had happened a long time ago.
Hae Choon whistles at that. “Well, at least we still got each other’s back.”
Mi Young chuckles at that. Then, she remembered something, “Can you please tell me more about the Killing Technique.”
“Just because I made that move doesn’t mean I’m an expert about it. Maybe if I have memories but I don’t even remember where I learned it.” Hae Choon says.. Mi Young must have look disappointed because the next second, Hae Choon was taking back his words before sighing and said, “Although I don’t really remember how I managed to learn it, I can tell you some based from my remaining memories which are all from the books I’ve read.”
