The Unsurpassed Maiden - Chapter 173
Once Se Heon and Zhong Liu were alone, the teacher led him to a small worn out hut in the middle of the forest.
Se Heon stood there looking at the small hut. “Is this where you live?”
Zhong Liu gave him a small glance, “Why? Is it too dirty for Your Highness?”
Se Heon shrugs before saying, “No. I just remembered the small hut I used to live in when I ran away from home. It’s even dirtier than yours.”
The young student chuckled while he remembered his memories. He was too young back then but surprisingly that small and ragged hut was enough for him to feel warm. Zhong Liu studied the student for a bit, he might have misjudged the student at first and with how the young boy was acting right now, the teacher couldn’t help but feel surprised with how he is slowly discovering more of the young man’s attitude.
“Come along now.” Zhong Liu starts to say as he starts walking towards his hut.
Se Heon didn’t waste any time before he followed the teacher. However, the moment he comes inside the hut his mouth hangs open.
“No way.” The young man says while slowly walking inside the marbled floor of the teacher’s hut. “I should have known you’re a man with class.”
“What can I say, it runs in my blood.” Zhong Liu replies while sitting down on the leather couch. Then he points at the couch just in front of him to let the student sit. “Sit down and let’s talk. I know you have tons of questions.”
Remembering his main reason why he came with the teacher, Se Heon instantly sits down on the couch in front of the teacher.
Zhong Liu snapped his hands and a teapot as well as a couple of teacups appeared in front of them. “Have yourself some tea.”
“Thank you.” Se Heon said politely but didn’t want to get some tea.
Zhong Liu takes note of this and raises an eyebrow at Se Heon, “I won’t poison you.”
Se Heon shakes his head before saying, “I really don’t like drinking tea.”
“Alright. Fine. So, what do you want to ask me?” Zhong Liu asks while casually sipping his tea.
“Why did the First Jeon sacrifice all those lives just to become one with the Flame of Life?” Se Heon asks.
“Because he wanted power.”
“Why? Is his power not enough?”
“When you’re facing a group of Dark soldiers and ancient beings, your power is never enough.” Zhong Liu says.
“Then why did he eradicate that particular town?”
Zhong Liu shrugs before saying, “Because he knew that someday that town would produce many Witches that can either side with them or their enemies.”
“Why is the First Jeon so afraid of the prophecy?”
“That prophecy talks about a certain Mage that would lead to the downfall or the salvation of us Mages.” Zhong Liu says in a slow manner.
“So there are two possible outcomes? Then why did he do his best to stop it from happening?” Se Heon questions.
“Because he believes that the future generation will be filled with ambitious and arrogant Mages. He wasn’t wrong though.” Zhong Liu says while winking at Se Heon. The young man rolled his eyes at the teacher.
“Anyway, who told them about this Great Prophecy?”
“I don’t know. It suddenly appeared one day and everyone in the nine clans started fearing for that day to come. After it was confirmed that it will happen not on our time but to the future generation, a lot of people didn’t mind it anymore. Only Alastar.” Zhong Liu says again with a nonchalant voice while sipping his coffee.
A certain word coming out from the teacher’s mouth caught the young student’s attention. “We? So you and Lady Ning Gwang are from the past?”
Zhong Liu puts down his teacup and says, “Yes. Why?”
“How did you do it? Did you travel through time magic?”
The teacher shakes his head. “Nope. We mastered Time Magic ourselves so now we can preserve our youth and escape death many times.”
“Is that so…” Se Heon says with a hum. “Anyway, who was that lady Alastar was talking to? She also said that she came from another kingdom. How is that possible?”
“She said what she said, she came from another kingdom.” Zhong Liu says in a bored voice.
“There is another kingdom than our Mage kingdom?” Se Heon asks with widened eyes.
Zhong Liu chuckles at his student’s astonished look. “Oh, child, your eyes will widen even more if you learn how many other kingdoms are out there.”
“W-Why did the royal family hide it from us? Something as important as that shouldn’t be hidden from the people!”
“The King thinks he is protecting his own people by hiding the truth from them. That’s why the Mage kingdom is able to live for years thanks to the magical barriers he has put around us so our kingdom is hidden from the sight of outsiders. That’s also why he chose to put savage beasts all around the walls of our kingdom so whoever tried to get closer to us will die in their hands and the Mage kingdom can prosper forever on their fake peace.” Zhong Liu explains while looking at the ceiling of his own mansion.
“That’s a good reason but I still strongly oppose the fact that he has hidden a very huge secret to us.” Se Heon says.
“I know but what can I say? We have a cowardly King.”
“Why did you master Time Magic? What’s your purpose?” Se Heon suddenly asks out of nowhere. Zhong Liu was a little surprised by the young man’s question.
“I don’t know either. I guess without even saying it loudly, me and the others want to save the Mage kingdom when that Great Prophecy comes.”
“So you kept yourselves alive for millions of years so you can help the kingdom when the end comes?” Se Heon asks.
Zhong Liu shrugs before sending a glare at the young student. “Don’t make me repeat it.”
“And the lady?”
“What lady?”
“The lady the First Jeon was talking to. Who was she?” Se Heon asks.
Zhong Liu sighs before fetching his tea and sipping from it. “That is a question I cannot answer for now.”
“Why?” Se Heon asks. “Why? Who is she? Why does she sound familiar to me?”
Zhong Liu raises an eyebrow at him. “That’s a story that should be talked about some other time.”
“That’s not fair.”
“There is no such thing as fair in this world, child.” Zhong Liu replies. “As for the scenes I have let you see, all of those were to make you choose a side. Do you want to side with your ancestors after everything they have done to our kingdom? Or do you want to save on the side of the people they have done wrong things with? A huge war is about to arrive and we expect you to let students choose a side before it’s too late.”
“All I want is to know where Mi Young is. Then you showed me all of these things. Now, I’m confused and filled with so many questions.” Se Heon says. “And you’re telling me there is an upcoming war? For what?”
“Things are starting to change, child.” Zhong Liu says while standing up. He stretches his body before continuing, “Anyway, as for your friend, we’re going to meet her anytime soon.”
“How? I can’t leave the school.”
“Hours ago you were willing to drop out from the academy just to find your lover. And now that I’m offering you a free ride, you’re suddenly backing out? How cowardly.”
“First of all, she is not my lover. She’s just a friend.” Se Heon replied with a glare. Zhong Liu gave him a whatever-you-say look to which the other party ignored. “And second, what I mean is how can we get out of the school and find where Mi Young is?”
“Do you really think so lowly of me? I’m not that weak, you know.”
“I know you’re powerful. I have seen enough. I’m just making sure we’re using a safe way.”
“Trust me, I can learn how to control my power. Besides, I’m the best when it comes to teleportation.” Zhong Liu says as he dusted off his robe. “So what do you say?”
