The Unusual At Trost Academy - Chapter 33 New Living Naomi
We all stood in Chasan’s office. “So, you all have a reason for being here,” Chasan’s voice was shaky, “You all are exceptionally talented, and most of you are who Alucard wants. So, you, along with the current student body, will put your abilities to the test. We have one month to prepare, unless, you want to turn yourselves in.” Bill slammed his hand on Chasan’s desk, “We aren’t going to do that! At the moment, no one stands a chance against Dracula, even Akumura.” I looked at Akumura. He looked tired. More than usual. “Sorry, can I speak to Akumura, alone, real quickly?” Chasan nodded, “Yes, that would be fine.” I pulled him out of the room.
“What’s wrong?”
“What?”
“Something’s wrong,” I looked at his eyes, “I know. I’ve lived with you long enough to know when something’s up.” He shrugged. “You didn’t use your true form in the fight, did you?”
“Maybe. What about it?”
“You know how much that drains you! And using it for a tournament fight!” I slapped him in the back of the head, “You know better!” He rubbed where I struck him, “Okay, I get it. I didn’t have much of a choice though, Bill’s gotten stronger. Especially now that he has his new form.” I sighed, “I know. But why couldn’t you just take the loss and leave it at that?”
“I think Brit said it best,” he pointed to his head, “It’s a matter of pride when you get down to it.” Bill stuck his head out, “We need you guys, so hurry it up.” Akumura waved his hand, “Yeah, yeah, I know. We’re almost done.”
“No we-”
“Almost done.” I didn’t argue with him. Today left me drained.
We walked back in the room. The aura of the room was somber. “So, someone is going to die.” Jamie sounded like she was holding back tears. “Not necessarily,” Chasan grabbed a book from his shelf, “But it is likely. If what Ms. Hellsing said is true, then the Black Hoops are far more dangerous than I imagined. We need to make sure that they are not able to reform after this.” Chasan flipped through the book, “Yes, this is the one,” he handed the book to Brit, “This should have some magic you can use to temporarily keep the school safe. It only lasts an hour though, so use it only when necessary.” She nodded, “Got it.”
“It’s best you get some rest. Today has been, taxing, to say the least, on all of us.” We all nodded in agreement, and left.
We grabbed everything, and hauled it to the new dorm. “I was too hard on her.”
“What?”
“On Scorpio. Her company is currently ran by a Vampire Hunter, so she offered to help. I was too hard on her.” Akumura shook his head, “No. It’s fair, I mean, when I first met you, you were being attacked by one. You have all rights to be afraid of them.” I set my box down. “So, this is it, huh?” Akumura nodded, “Yup. Finally, another guy to live with.” I punched him in the shoulder, “Whatever, I know you peep on me.”
“Uh huh, just like how you are too loud with your, nighttime activities.”
“WAIT HOW’D YO-”
“You really should wear headphones before watching those Japanese cartoons.”
“Oh, yeah, the anime. That’s what you were talking about.” He opened the door. The room was even bigger than I imagined. It had a living room the size of the regular dorms, and three rooms going off of it. I picked up the box, and ran into one of the side rooms. “I call this room!”
“Alright.” I set down the box. There were four beds. It was twice the size of the regular dorms, and actually had a window. “This is more like it.” I collapsed on one of the beds, “I can get used to this.”
Shortly after, I forgot how crowded living with other people was. Scorpio’s bed was surrounded with a wall of boxes, Brit already had books thrown all over it, and Jamie’s wings took up half the room. “Uh, guys,” I moved Jamie’s wing out of my face, “We might want to talk about space management.” Scorpio poked her head over her wall, “I think I’m fine.”
“For now, yes, but those boxes are gonna fall over soon.”
“I know. I’ll deal with it then.” Brit shook her head, “They’re gonna fall right about,” There was a crash in the other corner of the room, “Now.”
“Great,” Scorpio groaned, “I’m almost certain you used some magic to do that.”
“No, it was clearly unstable. You have the larger and heavier boxes on the top. It’s basic architecture.” Jamie sighed, “Sorry about my wings, by the way.”
“It’s fine, I’ll get used to it.”
“Are you sure?” Brit struggled to pick up a box, “I’ve lived with her for almost three months and I’m still not used to it.” Jamie rolled her eyes, “Whatever, you haven’t talked to me about it once.”
“I have, you just don’t listen!”
“Sorry, what?” Scorpio laughed a little. So, this is what Bill had to deal with. Almost makes me feel sorry for him. “For God’s sake!” Brit tried throwing the box she had, but it landed on her foot when she let go of it. “Shit!” She jumped back on her bed, and kept reading. Scorpio sighed, and started picking up the boxes. “I wonder how Bill and Akumura are doing.” I didn’t really. I was just trying to start literally any other conversation. “Not sure,” Jamie tucked her wings in her shirt, “should we check on them?”
“Nah. They’re probably fine.”
