The Unusual At Trost Academy - Chapter 42 The Day Scorpio
The day was December 2nd. We all knew what was coming. Akumura and Naomi were on guard. Brit, along with some other students, had managed to cast a barrier around the school. Bill and I were sent to know when they start moving. Helena was thrilled, to put it lightly. “It’s once in a dynasty! I get to do what my great great great grandfather had done, no, I get to do what no one in my family has done before! Take on not only Alucrad, but Dracula as well!” If only she were that energetic about running the company.
Bill and I sat at a port at the edge of town. I looked at him. He seemed like a completely different person from the last time we fought together. “So, I was wondering,” I felt washed up, “How would you feel about-” I cut myself off. He looked at me. “About what?” I sighed. I can do this. “How would you feel about a date once we’re done with this?” He fell backward. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to-” He jumped up, “If we survive, sure. I’ll be grateful if we do just that.” My face got hot. “R-really?” He nodded, “Yeah.” It felt like my whole life had been leading up to this one moment.
The moment though, didn’t last long.
A ship pulled into the harbor, and docked right next to us. A man jumped down from it, and looked at us. “You two wouldn’t happen to know where the closest restaurant is, would you?” He had an accent somewhere between English and Italian. He stood tall, and had long hair, almost as long as mine. Bill pointed downtown, “Three blocks down, there’s a pretty good Italian place. Used to go there all the time. four out of five stars, not too expensive either.” The man nodded, and walked off. Bill looked at me, “That’s him.” I nodded, trying to seem confident. My facade didn’t last long though, because Bill grabbed my hands, “Stop shaking,” His voice was oddly calm for the situation, “We need to remain as inconspicuous as possible.”
“It’s harder than it looks.” He sighed, and pulled out his phone. “Well, I’m letting Miss Harley know. We’ll go from there.” We started walking to the school.
When we got there we were met by Jamie, Pisces, and Miss Harley. They used a keypad of sorts, and a section of the barrier opened. We walked inside, went to the arena.
Akumura and Naomi were sitting there, both of them had their weapons at the ready. “Hard to think,” Akumura looked at Bill, “A month ago, I beat your ass here.” Bill chuckled, “Yeah, whatever, you had an unfair advantage.”
“And how is that?”
“Simple. I was in the middle of and had just been through a transformation.” Akumura scoffed, “Whatever. If we manage to get a rematch, I bet I’ll still kick your ass.” Naomi scooted over to me, “Told ya, Saiyans.” I laughed a little, but the dread kicked back in right away.
Everyone in the school sat in anticipation. Chasan was trying his hardest to keep everyone calm, but clearly, it was not working. The fear in the air was almost tangible. Without warning, the loud speakers turned on, and with a screech of feedback, a voice started booming out of them, “So, you’re locking yourselves up,” it started, “Not the smartest move, but whatever.” There was a loud bang from outside, “I wonder how many times we’ll have to hit this until it breaks. 10 times? 25? 100? No matter,” there was another bang, “It’ll wear down eventually.” Brit’s expression sunk, “He’s right. Even with the most talented and proficient magicians in the school, we can’t keep it up for long.” Bill grinned, “So I get to fight Dracula?” Jamie punched him in the stomach, “STOP ACTING LIKE THIS IS A PRIVILEGE! I GET IT, YOU LIKE FIGHTING! NOW IS NOT THE TIME THOUGH!” Bill recovered from the shock. “YOU HAVE TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!” Her voice started breaking, “Please… I can’t lose another family…” Bill sighed, and put his hand on her shoulder, “You’re not going to. Look at how many people we have here. The Hoops are a local gang, once we take care of them, then Alucard and Dracula will be a cake walk.”
After a series of barrages on the barrier, we heard a shattering noise. “Everyone,” Chasan started, “Please, stay calm!” A girl in the seat in front of me started hyperventilating, only to be stopped by someone next to her using healing magic to restore her breathing. “It is most important in a fight to keep your composure. There are 50 of them! We have an attendance of 3,486! We can wi-” the doors to the stadium flew open, and the loudspeaker screeched again, “If you may, turn your attention to the main entrance! The show has begun!” We all looked at the door, or what remained of it. Akumura and Bill stared intensely. Naomi started shaking. “It’s going to be okay,” Jamie grabbed Naomi’s trembling hand with her own, “We’ll make it through this.”
The arena filled with a mob of darkness, a gang clad in black. Chasan calmly walked through the crowd, and stood in front of Alucard. They talked for a second, but then both Chasan and Alucard flew backward. This, ignited something in a majority of the students. Everyone, excluding Jamie, Naomi and I, jumped down in the action. I looked behind me. Jamie was crying, and Naomi was frozen. “Oh for God’s sake,” I slapped Naomi, “SNAP OUT OF IT! YOU ARE A FUCKMOTHERING VAMPIRE! YOU’VE TAKEN ALUCARD BEFORE, YOU CAN DO IT AGAIN!” She looked at me, her eyes were hollow, “I-I don’t know if I can. He’s far more powerful than he was. Almost like he wasn’t using his full potential last time. I mean, look at him.” She was right. He had a more slender build than before. Jamie shook her head, “I-I can do this,” She wiped her eyes, “I know what I can do.” She grabbed her rifle from under her seat, and soared into the sky. I grabbed my scythe, and jumped down in the chaos.
