The Unusual At Trost Academy - Chapter 62 Night Of Nights Jamie
For some reason, I was excited. Despite what was coming, tonight, I was ecstatic. Scorpio and I basically had the same dress, except the colors. Hers was dark yellow, with Topaz lining the bottom, but mine was a simple light blue, matching my eyes. Pisces refused to wear her dress until we were the dance started, and Brit had ended up buying a suit with Akumura and Bill. For once in months, my mind was off of what had happened, Alucard, Dracula, the Black Hoops, Lucifer, Cthulhu, all of it disappeared.
The school’s ballroom was, as expected with everything on the campus, massive. Pillars held up the roof, and tables with concessions lined the area. A DJ setup was already at the front, and music was already coming from it. “Magnificent, isn’t it?” Chasan walked next to me. I flinched, then recomposed myself. “Yeah, I definitely would say that. Certainly bigger than any room I’ve been in.” Bill and Scorpio walked around the room, while Akumura, Brit, and Pisces talked to other people in the room. I took a shaky breath, and went to get a drink.
Music blared from the speakers set around the ballroom. Scorpio and Bill danced together. Brit, Pisces, and I watched. “Ya know,” Pisces looked at them, “Most of the time, I wouldn’t let him be with her like that, but tonight,” she took a picture with her phone, “I think I’ll let them. They’ve earned it.” Brit nodded in agreement. I looked for the closest clock. 8:45. I sighed, and nodded as well. Akumura walked up to us, and sat next to me. “Man,” he looked at everyone, “If only she were here to see this.” He wiped his eyes, and sighed. “No use dwelling on it now though. We’ve got another issue.” He looked at Bill and Scorpio, who, for once in their relationship, looked like they were enjoying themselves. Of course, the second I thought about them, Scorpio looked directly at me, then back to Bill. Pisces laughed, and put her hand on my shoulder. “One of these days, I’ll get you someone like him.”
Bill and Scorpio sat next to Akumura. The second they sat down, their expressions went from happy to almost scarily serious. “Any signs of him yet?” Bill asked, looking at me. “No, not yet.” Brit said, projecting a model of the school with her wand, “If he were to come directly for us, which I’m assuming he will, he’ll be at least on campus. As for right now, if I were you two, I’d leave and prepare to released the Demons. I can tell he’s close.” Bill and Scorpio nodded, and stood up.
The calmness I felt earlier was replaced with fear. The entire Angel race, my entire race, wiped out by him in an instant. I looked at Brit, then went back to my thoughts. Chasan was nothing more than a messenger during the war. How was he going to even be able to survive a single attack from Lucifer, and even more importantly, how was I supposed to survive? His entire trip here was for two reasons, finish off the Demons, and have my head. “Hey,” Pisces grabbed my face, “don’t psych yourself out. We’ve got all the time in the world, as far as we’re concerned.” I felt something roll down my cheek, and Pisces wiped it off. “I know, I’m scared too, we all are. But we cannot afford to let that take hold.” I nodded, and wiped my eyes, “I know. I’ve tried to keep it together, so I guess this is just me letting it all out before we go.” A buzz came from under Pisces’s chair. She reached under, and grabbed her phone.
“Hey, Pisces,” Scorpio yelled over what sounded like high wind, “you might want to check outside.”
“Why?”
“We’ve got our army, and they’re on the way, and by the looks of things,” she paused for a second, “it looks like Lucifer is too.”
“Got it, I’ll get everyone out there.” Pisces and I stood up, and split up to look for Brit, Akumura, and Chasan.
I frantically searched the room for someone, going as far as to fly above the crowd. Eventually, I found Akumura talking to a group of people wearing all black with white bandannas. I landed behind him. “Sorry to interrupt,” I said, tapping Akumura on the shoulder, “may I steal you for a minute?” The guys Akumura was talking to started cheering. Akumura nodded, and we walked into the crowd.
“What is it?” He asked. “He’s on his way, along with the Demons.” He looked at the crowd, the back at me. “Okay then,” his hair turned white, “let’s get this son of a bitch.”
Akumura and I walked outside. Surely enough, a cloud of black and red flowed over the school, lead by Bill. The Demons landed, one of them walking out of the crowd, toward Akumura and I. He wore a suit similar to Lucifer’s, but instead of being white with blue trimming, it was black, with a red tie, exactly like Bill’s, along with that, he had a fedora looking hat, that was so dark it absorbed all the light around it. “I don’t believe we’ve properly met,” the Demon held out his hand, “the name’s Satan. I take it you’re-”
“Jamie Charleston.” I hesitantly reached out, and took his hand. “Please do understand,” he said, letting go of my hand, “I’m only doing this out of hatred for Lucifer. If it were up to me,” he towered over me, “you’d be just as dead as he’s gonna be.” Bill put his hand on Satan’s chest, “We talked about this. We’ll discuss our racist feelings later, right now, we’ve got a much larger threat.”
Pisces walked out of the ballroom with Chasan and Brit in toe. “Satan,” Chasan glared at Bill’s father. “Messenger boy.” Satan glared at Chasan. Brit stood between the two, holding one of the spell-books Pisces had given her. “Alright, here goes nothing,” she held her wand up, and closed her eyes, keeping the book open in her hand. A white light shot out of the tip of her wand. “That should at least slow him.”
“What did you do?” Satan looked at her, intrigued. “I cast a simple protection spell over the school. It’s far stronger than the one I used when the Hoops attacked, but I don’t know how long it’ll hold.”
As if he was listening, a ball of flame rammed itself into the barrier, echoing the sound of impact across the campus. Brit continued to hold her arm up, but she was quickly wavering. A series of swords rained down, bouncing off the shield, until one managed to make its way through, landing right next to Satan. He tried to grab it, but when he did, a loud hissing and smoke came from his hand. “It’s him.” Brit’s arm finally gave in, and an explosion erupted from the center of the school.
Brit held her hand out, and our weapons appeared in front of us. “If we’re going to do this,” she said, holding her wand in the direction of the explosion, “you bet your ass we’re going to do it right.” The army of Demons began creating a formation while chanting “BLEDP’H!” Bill and Scorpio held their scythes at the ready. The air around Aleister became increasingly warm. Pisces held her rapier to her chest. A sword made of shadow appeared in Satan’s hand. Chasan held a bow of light. I picked up my rifle, and flew upward. Shortly following, Bill, Satan, and Chasan, all of us, facing one enemy. “Are we sure this will work?” I asked, looking at Bill.
“If it doesn’t,” Bill looked back at me, “we’re pretty screwed. So let’s hope it does.”
