The Upgrade System - Chapter 42
Dan got to Sofia’s car again to go to the meeting.
‘How come after I bought the new car, I have only driven it once and even that was just to get the car to the office and back home.’
They went into the same restaurant as when they went to a meeting with William, the son of the Overseer CEO’s con.
There were a couple of men around 40-year-old who were the heads of some of the biggest corporations in the state. They had also brought some of their kids around the same age as Sofia with them.
As Sofia sat down at one of the chairs, Dan just stood behind her like the other bodyguards that were brought by the other men but unlike the other bodyguards, he didn’t look like a bodyguard.
One of the middle-aged men asked, “Sofia, is that your bodyguard?”
“Yes, my dad hired him.”
“Ok, I don’t know if he can protect you very well.”
Dan thought, ‘Screw you. I am strong enough to protect her ok.’
The man continued, “How about I introduce to some powerful bodyguards.”
“No thanks, I am sure that my bodyguard can do his job.”
That conversation was set aside and they started to talk about some other important things that Dan didn’t bother listening to.
In the middle of the conversation, the same man who kept talking about introducing some bodyguards to Sofia started to talk about it again.
Sofia kindly said no but the man continued to pester Sofia about it.
“Are you sure that you don’t want me to introduce some powerful bodyguards to you? I know that you might not want to fire a bodyguard that your dad hired but you should still prioritize your safety.”
‘Why do you keep talking about introducing some bodyguards for Sofia? Don’t you have more important things to talk about and I am more powerful than those bodyguards.’
“Are the bodyguards you are going to introduce to me just as strong as your bodyguard?”
“Yes, they are about the same in terms of strength.”
“Then how about this, why don’t you get your bodyguards to fight my bodyguard and if your bodyguards win then I will consider hiring the bodyguards that you want to introduce to me.”
“Of course, that seems fair.”
