The Villainess’s Revenge - Chapter 308
“I deserve that, can you please just end this nightmare though? I don’t want to suffer an eternity of hell, maybe hell is even better than this, just please- end my never-ending suffering, I beg you.”
Duke Gaston said, begging Lady Melissa as the woman genuinely held out her hand this time, though Duke Gaston was reluctant to touch her hand, a little nervous that she would just drop him, again.
“Fine.”
Lady Melissa said, as she decided that she’d be so nice as to teleport the both of them back to square one, her house- more specifically Lady Melissa’s room, as Duke Gaston was extremely grateful that the hell he had been experiencing from earlier was finally finished (after all, getting hit in the balls and penis numerous times repeatedly wouldn’t be the most pleasant experience for an individual).
“Learnt your lesson yet, Gaston?”
Lady Melissa asked the man, an entertained smirk on her face as the man looked like he had given up, she was definitely going to use this torturing method much more often later on in the near future.
“I’ll tell you how and why I found you, I’m sure you knew of the woman who kidnapped you, Lady Camilia, she approached me with a deal that I couldn’t refuse, and not in a good way, though the deal didn’t include anything about you. All she told me was to disappear for a few hours.”
Duke Gaston said, explaining a little bit of what had happened earlier on, just a few hours or days ago (Lady Melissa assumed it was a few hours or days) before Lady Melissa had been kidnapped by Lady Camilia.
“I wanted to say no since I usually don’t do business with people who give little to no information, but her deal, I couldn’t refuse it, I’m sorry that you got kidnapped Lady Melissa, it was never my intention for you to have gotten kidnapped or anything of the sort.”
Duke Gaston said, as he added to his explanation from earlier, as well as apologizing to Lady Melissa, feeling that he was partially to blame because of Lady Melissa’s kidnapping, since if he had just tried to prevent it, then Lady Melissa would have never been kidnapped in the first place at all.
“Before you say anything, I would like to continue my explanation and answer your last question since I’m not done yet. The reason that I decided to help you with your kidnapping was that I felt bad, I felt that the reason you got into this mess was because of me, since I played a big step in it, and if I had just tried to prevent this from ever happening, then you would be okay, and the kidnapping wouldn’t have had even happened in the first place. I know you’re wondering how I found you, which I’ll explain later on but for now I’ll stop here.”
Duke Gaston said as he let out a sigh, inhaling a breath of air as his eyes glazed over to Lady Melissa who was still taking some time to process this entire thing, already wondering what kind of deal the woman had offered (more like forced) to Duke Gaston.
Whatever it was, based on Duke Gaston’s grim expressions and serious attitudes, it definitely wasn’t a good sign, meaning that he had been struck with a bad deal- he had been forced to do this or else something bad would obviously happen to him or his loved ones.
As much as Lady Melissa was mad at the man- (spoiler alert, she was VERY mad at Duke Gaston) she felt that he was partially not to blame, since well, he didn’t have a choice in the first place.
No matter how much she tried, she would always end up being the second choice, after all Duke Gaston had a heroic heart, of course, he’d choose to save some other people other than her, he was a knight at heart.
As much as it stung her, as much as it hurt her to face the reality that she was always going to be the second choice, be it to her loved ones, or even to strangers.
“So you chose them over me, right?”
Lady Melissa asked, a saddened expression on her face, she couldn’t help herself but her mood had dropped a bit since, she was reminded of the fact that she was second, in a way, similar to Duke Mason.
‘God is this how he feels all the time?’
Lady Melissa wondered to herself, with all the comparisons between Duke Mason and Duke Gaston, Duke Mason was bound to feel insecure of himself, no matter how hard he would try and seem that he wasn’t.
“Meliss-”
Duke Gaston was interrupted by Lady Melissa, who didn’t even spare another glance at him, instead, she just sounded so cold, she should’ve expected it, she was always going to be everyone’s second choice no matter what happened.
Why did, for once, Lady Melissa think that things would just change in this life? Lady Melissa then decided to do what she was always best at doing, pushing others away, it was all she knew what to do in the first place.
“Just…go…please.”
Lady Melissa said, trying to keep herself and holding back the tears from falling down, yet in a way it was inevitable, she felt embarrassed and humiliated, what was there to even cry about in the first place?
So what if she wasn’t people’s first option? So what if she was going to constantly be everyone’s second option? Lady Melissa tried to convince herself everything was fine, that it was alright, yet the tears just couldn’t stop but fall.
Duke Gaston felt horrible, looking at the woman in front of him, as he put on his jacket, giving her one last glance before he teleported out of Lady Melissa’s house, he felt guilty, knowing that the reason she was crying right now was because of him.
