The Villainess’s Revenge - Chapter 310
Duke Mason didn’t even appear the day after Lady Melissa had been ungrounded, though she gave the man a pass since, well, he did invite her to a very exclusive party held by the one and only.
However, she couldn’t help but be disappointed at Duke Mason a bit, out of all the three men she had expected Duke Mason to be the one to visit her, or at least try to visit her, she was always the closest to him after all.
Yet, once again Lady Melissa was taught about the harsh harsh reality she had to face, everybody wanted to be her friend just because it benefited them, but when she needed their help where were they?
It was a problem for Lady Melissa, a problem that she didn’t have in her previous life since no one had wanted to be her friend- no one had even wanted to be associated with her even at the slightest things.
Lady Melissa loved the attention, she loved everybody approaching her, people desperately trying to be her friend, yet at the end of the day, she was always reminded that no matter how many people would approach her, or how many people wanted to be her friend, she was alone.
Lady Melissa was alone and she was going to stay alone, in the end, all she had was herself, hence why she was so determined to kill the Crown Prince, she needed to do this, to bring peace to herself.
Lady Melissa wanted to close this chapter of her life, to move on from the Crown Prince and to have her happily ever after, yet she couldn’t do that, not with the Crown Prince still alive at least, hence why she was so hell-bent on killing him.
Times like these made Lady Melissa feel like she was a horrible person, she knew herself, how hypocritical she was and could be, would she even visit Duke Alphonso, Duke Gaston or even Duke Mason if they couldn’t go out for an entire month?
Perhaps she would, perhaps she wouldn’t, whatever the answer was, Lady Melissa herself didn’t know, though she did know one thing, she would at least try to comfort them in her own way.
Perhaps she would write a letter to them, in hopes of making them feel better about the grounding or perhaps she would send them food (not homemade since she didn’t know how to bake nor cook).
Whatever that Lady Melissa would do, she would do it to help raise their spirits, and knowing that she wasn’t getting the same reaction from the three of them obviously hurt her a lot, perhaps things would have been better if she had never interacted with them.
Lady Melissa’s standards or expectations weren’t even that high to meet, all she wanted and needed was a friend that was there for her, a friend who genuinely cared, a friend who would see her as the first option while many others saw her as a back-up plan.
A friend who was willingly there for her, but most importantly, a friend who wouldn’t lie to her, someone who was honest- now, was that so hard to ask? Lady Melissa was definitely going to go and find some new friends later on in Duke Mason’s party.
It was time for Lady Melissa to attend Duke Mason’s party, as she was going to be fashionably late, even though she could probably arrive on time if she wanted to.
She needed to have everybody in the room, everybody to see her, everybody to notice her presence, and everybody to admire her.
Besides, what use would it be if she just came to the party, with only a few nobles insight? She wouldn’t be able to showcase how beautiful she looked and the beautifully tailored dress that was made for her, and only her.
Lady Melissa- as she had planned out, arrived fashionably late, as she was greeted by multiple guards, maids and servants who all looked at her, the maids in jealousy, whilst the guards and servants were in awe of her beauty.
The herald had even stopped and just stared a few seconds to admire how beautifully Lady Melissa looked, hoping that the woman in front of him hadn’t noticed this of course, though Lady Melissa did.
“Now announcing Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla from the Shayla estate!”
The herald shouted, as the music that was playing seemingly stopped, as others turned their heads around, as they were curious to know where the woman had been for the past few weeks or so.
The only people that the herald would introduce were the royal family members, the founding families, and last but not least, the royal family members of other countries, other than that, nobody else’s appearance would be announced.
Lady Melissa maintained her cold demeanour, acting as if she was unaffected by this entire ordeal, the number of eyes staring at her was much different from last time, this time their eyes were filled with playfulness.
And, that was when Lady Melissa knew that she was going to be in for a long night if even half of the people here had a similar personality to Duke Mason, then she was certainly going to regret even accepting the man’s invitation letter.
This was going to be an exceptionally long day, the eyes that were staring at her weren’t filled with jealousy, they were eyes that belonged to a predator as if it was looking at its prey.
Fortunately for Lady Melissa though, she was no prey, contrary to that, she was a predator, just like them, though she was certainly going to be tired of dealing with the number of people that were going to overanalyze every little thing she said and throw shade to her.
However, just before Lady Melissa could even say something, or even walk down the stairs for that matter, the herald made another announcement, as all eyes that were on Lady Melissa turned to the door, awaiting whoever it was.
Lo and behold, the person that was standing behind the doors was none other than Duke Mason and Duke Gaston’s sister, as whispers were spread across the room, wondering who the woman beside Duke Mason was.
Lady Melissa’s eyes widened, shocked at this surprise, Duke Gaston’s sister wasn’t supposed to appear for the next two to three months or so, yet the woman was standing just a few feet away from her.
Lady Melissa’s eyes widened even further when she saw Duke Gaston leaning into Duke Gaston’s sister, she could feel her heart sinking, her chest felt heavy, and it felt like she couldn’t breathe.
