The Villainess’s Revenge - Chapter 323
Lady Melissa checked the time, only now noticing the amount of time she had spent being kidnapped, being kidnapped hadn’t surprised her and scared her as much as the first time she had been kidnapped.
Of course, she was still a bit worried and nervous when she was kidnapped, but it was nothing like how she had been during the first time she was kidnapped- she was scared, afraid of what could and might happen to her.
But with everything that’s happened after the first time she had kidnapped, she had grown less afraid of death, in addition to that she knew Lady Camilia wouldn’t kill her immediately that time, even though she didn’t know why she had a feeling that Lady Camilia was going to need her for future purposes.
And Lady Melissa’s instincts were right once again- Lady Camilia indeed wanted to use her- wanted to take advantage of her power, when she had her own- a test, it was a test of Lady Melissa’s life.
No matter what situation Lady Melissa was forced to come across- chances were that it was usually a test of Lady Melissa’s life, she had now become a target for utter chaos and problems.
At this point Lady Melissa should’ve just become a mathematician because then she’d at least be solving some problems- even if those very same problems weren’t problems of her own, it’d be a good distraction for her.
It had been a little over an hour during the time that Lady Melissa had spent with Lady Camilia, which was getting kidnapped and then coming back, it was less than the first time around, probably because Lady Melissa had a clear objective this time around, unlike the first time.
Though it was a little unfair of Lady Melissa to say such a thing since most of the times when she’d jump into problems of her own she’d try to just feel the problems, and then think of a plan and objective.
In addition to that, Lady Camilia did have sort of an objective the first time around that Lady Melissa was kidnapped, as in to kill Lady Melissa, however, that was an unrealistic objective at the time because she didn’t prepare the necessary resources and people for that.
However, this time around Lady Camilia had done her homework- this was sort of an unrealistic objective that she had assigned Lady Melissa to do, after all, Duke Gaston was one of the generals for the army’s troops, it was practically impossible for her to kill him, the man alone could murder 10 soldiers alone without even getting injured.
Lady Camilia knew that the task she had assigned Lady Melissa was practically impossible- she wanted Lady Melissa to die, but at the same time the woman gave Lady Melissa sort of a chance maybe.
Plus, Lady Camilia wanted to see if Lady Melissa was even capable of doing such a thing- after all, she knew that the woman had broken many such rules in the past, who’s to say she couldn’t break this one?
The best thing Lady Melissa knew to do was to make the impossible possible, after all at this rate it should probably be her middle name or her motto ‘The only thing I’m good at is making the impossible possible.’
It was a cheesy phrase of hers, but it was catchy, and it’d certainly be a good reminder for her in the future in case she had any sort of doubts in herself when she was going to attempt to do something.
Lady Melissa wasn’t surprised that none of the maids and servants had noticed her disappearance- since she had already told the maids and servants only to panic about her disappearance if she disappeared for over five hours and so.
Of course, she didn’t inform her parents about this, and she doubted that the maids or servants had done so either, when her parents hadn’t checked up on her at all in over a month now, even with gossip articles talking about her.
Lady Melissa already had asked Sophia to fetch her a gossip article, and just like it had expected- it was talking about Duke Mason’s grand party, the ‘highlight of the year’ was what some were saying.
Others were even starting to get a little afraid, considering the fact that it hadn’t even been three months from the King’s party and Duke Mason’s party, and an incident like this had already happened.
There were quite a few people saying that they deemed Lady Melissa’s actions ‘unwomanly’ though Lady Melissa didn’t care as much, considering the fact that she saved dozens of people by being ‘unwomanly’.
Lady Melissa just couldn’t believe the fact that some people would rather talk about her actions being ‘unwomanly’ and her not being feminine enough when those very same actions they believed to be ‘unwomanly’ helped save dozens of lives.
Who knew what’d happen if she didn’t help? Perhaps the guests would still be perfectly fine, perhaps everything would be alright without her help- or perhaps things would be more of a mess, everything would be more chaotic.
There was always a chance, perhaps somewhere in some other universe, maybe Lady Melissa wouldn’t have even attended Duke Mason’s party, maybe in another universe she wouldn’t have even been reincarnated, maybe in another universe she would have gotten her happy ending, but that universe wasn’t her universe.
It was another Lady Melissa’s universe- but it wasn’t her universe, it was someone else’s universe, someone else’s happy ending, someone else’s life, someone else’s personality, it was just someone else.
The thing was that Lady Melissa wouldn’t know how things would have gone if she hadn’t helped, she wasn’t some person who could see the future, she was a regular human being who wanted to desperately kill the Crown Prince while at the same time caring about the people.
And if it was a crime for her to do both of that, then she’d admit to being guilty- she’d admit to being guilty of caring about the people when the King himself didn’t when the royal family members didn’t.
