The Villainess’s Revenge - Chapter 326
To the people surrounding Lady Melissa, the crowds- the people in the crowds, the sellers, the vendors, it looked as if it was just an accident- her bumping and then falling onto her ground, and they would much rather spend their time trying to make a living so that their family could eat rather than help her, which was understandable.
From their point of view, it looked like the man who had bumped into her was sorry, that the man was in a rush, and that was why Lady Melissa had ended up falling to the ground because the man was in a hurry to do or to get to something.
Lady Melissa slowly and slowly increased her pace, without even realizing it, as Justin increased his pace as well in order to keep up with hers, after all, he couldn’t get her injured or for her to disappear from his sight.
Lady Melissa let out a sigh, a little disappointed that in the capital- the busiest place in the United Kingdom didn’t even have a single shop that sold potions, or at least not one she could find so far.
Lady Melissa was starting to doubt herself, subconsciously, she started to think whether it was a mistake perhaps, coming here, that she’d just get nothing- that she’d just end up wasting her time and all of the time here she spent would be on nothing.
She had really hoped it wouldn’t be for nothing, not when she had already risked her life for this- not when she had sacrificed so much time she had for this, and looking at how things were going, she was going to be pulling multiple all-nighters for the following day or the following two days.
Justin could sense that his mistress was worried, he already had his own suspicions, deducting that whoever had bumped into her earlier was after her- it was a warning, a warning, but why? What did Lady Melissa even do for them to give her a warning?
It wasn’t as if the woman was killing people on a daily basis, she was simply going out to the capital, to look for a few potions, and he could see her composure cracking slowly and slowly, as she got more and more nervous.
Lady Melissa was about to go back home in her carriage when in the distance, she spotted a merchant, it wasn’t a shop, it was just a person selling potions, or what looked to be potions in a cart.
Lady Melissa felt it was eerie since the woman was all alone, there were no other shops near the surrounding area where her carriage was, and there was quite literally no one there- it was as if the place surrounding the woman was just…dead.
Lady Melissa knew that this was bad- she had a horrible gut feeling about this, but she ignored it, she decided that she’d take the risk, as with every step she took, she could feel the noises getting further and further away from her, her heart beating out of her chest, as she tried to calm herself.
Lady Melisssa couldn’t give up now, not when she was so close to getting what she came here for not when she had sacrificed so much time and put her neck out for this, she just couldn’t give things up.
Lady Melissa knew that she reeked of desperation and sadness, and maybe that was why she continued to take another step, and another, and another before she eventually reached the merchant.
“Excuse me, but what are you selling?”
Lady Melissa politely asked the elderly woman, a sweet smile on her face as Lady Melissa noticed the wide grin on her face, as the elderly woman looked straight through Lady Melissa’s hood, staring into her eyes.
Lady Melissa’s heart stopped beating for a split second, there was no way that an old woman like her could see through Lady Melissa right? There was no way that the woman was seeing Lady Melissa’s eyes, yet with every second she spent there, her gut was sinking over and over and over.
“Oh dear, I’m selling potions, would you want some?”
The elderly woman replied, as she stopped staring at Lady Melissa, as she revealed some more potions to Lady Melissa, each one of them having a different scent, a different texture and a different color to them, some of them didn’t even have a scent.
“What kind of potions do you sell?”
Lady Melissa politely asked, as she tried her best to maintain her calmness, whatever that was happening here was very shady, and even Lady Melissa herself knew it, yet she had no other alternative.
“I sell hypnotizing potions, you know in case you wanna make some guy fall in love with you, i also sell some sleep potions in case you have insomnia, or just can’t sleep because of some medical condition.”
“I also sell health potions, you know to make you healthier, I also sell growth potions, as well as weight potions in case you want to gain any weight or lose any sort of weight. What kind of potion do you need?”
Lady Melissa left the old woman, thanking her after she had gotten the potion she had came for in the first place, and Lady Melissa felt as if she had just entered some sort of teleportation device, because the moment she woke up, she knew that something was definitely wrong with where she was earlier, with the elderly woman who sold her those potions.
“She has your eyes, you know.”
The elderly woman said, unknown to Lady Melissa’s knowledge.
Although this was the same place she had been earlier, she felt as if that the elderly woman wasn’t who she seemed to be when she was there talking to the woman, it felt like time had stopped, and not in the romantic ‘time had stopped’ or any other emotional way, but it genuinely felt like time had stopped- at least to her.
