The Villainous Emperor Is My Pet? - Volume 1 Chapter 21 Interlude 1.4
Damn! He could have told me earlier. I go to my room. Feeling lethargic, I put the phone on the table. Talking to my ex who gave me syphilis is not something I wanted to do. I open the window. The sky is bleeding red. There is a thick layer of snow covering the road.
Why do I have this familiar ominous feeling that something bad is about to happen?
My phone starts ringing.
After a moment of contemplation, I pick it up. The person remains quiet for a moment. Sound of breathing is clear. I tilt my head and whisper, “Raymond?”
“Vina, you are awake.”
“Why the f.u.c.k are you calling me?” And it has been six months since I woke up.
“I don’t know,” He answers my unasked question. “I am waiting outside your home. Come to the window.”
What? I dash to the window. On the other side of the road, I see a tall man with honey blonde hair, blue eyes, and caramel skin, wearing a long black coat. He has always been a looker. He waves his hand toward me.
Okay, he is still the same. I say to him over the phone, “You have not told me why you are calling me.”
“I am sorry.” Raymond grins. “I wanted to hear your voice again.”
Bullshit.
“For more than two years, I felt like you didn’t exist in the world anymore. It was lonely. Even if we can’t be together, I want to be in the same world you are.”
This guy can still talk shit.
“You still hate me, Vina.”
“Is there anyone in the world who wouldn’t hate you for that?” I crease my forehead. There is a possibility that some people would be more forgiving. “Anyway, I don’t care anymore. I will keep praying to god that your rotten d.i.c.k falls off.”
“Vina.” There is a chuckle. “You are still the same.”
I have no idea what he meant. But I am not going to ask him.
“Why don’t you come out and meet me?” His voice is husky and low, seductive. “It has been a long time.”
I hang up and then, I close the window. What the hell is this guy thinking? He can freeze to death outside. Why would I care? The only reason that is stopping me from going outside and bury him under the snow is that it’s cold outside.
After pulling the blanket over myself, I close my eyes to take a nap. If I go outside, I have to make dinner. So, I am going to pretend to be asleep until my brother moves his lazy arse and cook.
Sound of knocking wakes me up. It seems that I fell asleep for real. While rubbing my right eye, I straighten my back and yawn. The light knocking continues.
“What the” I feel my blood draining when I realize that someone is knocking my window.
My room is on the first floor.
Who could it be? I frown deeply. Since I am not anyone’s Juliet, it can’t be Romeo. As if the person could sense me getting closer to the window, the knocking stops. I hear the sound of ragged breathing.
“Who is it?” I contemplate whether I should call my brother or Harvey. My brother is downstairs, probably cooking food that his ex-girlfriend used to love or napping on the couch.
“Vina, open the window.” His voice is hoarse, but I can tell that it’s Raymond.
“The f.u.c.k!” I widen my eyes. My hands tremble and the phone drops on the floor. What the hell is Raymond doing? Did he climb to my window? This creepy bastard! I look around for my baseball bat. Where did it go? I am going to kill someone today.
“I know that you are angry with me, but I need to see you.” Raymond sounds desperate. “I realized that you are the only one I love.”
Gross!!! I open the door and yell, “Kyle! Where are you? It’s an emergency. There’s a burglar.”
Within a minute, my brother runs up to the stairs. He stands in front of me with my baseball bat. I scowl at him. “Why do you have my baseball bat?”
“Is that important?” Kyle shouts, panicking. “Where is the burglar?”
“Give it to me.” I snatch the baseball bat and go to my window. I kick it open. When I look out, I see no one. Did he escape? The sky is dark and streetlights are not lighted.
“Was there really a burglar?” My brother takes his head out of the window, looking around. “I don’t see anyone.”
I put down the bat, feeling uneasy. That guy must have escaped when I called for my brother. “It was Raymond.”
My brother’s face turns dark. “Syphilis was here?”
“Yes, he was knocking my window.” The ominous feeling in my chest hasn’t disappeared. I feel like I am forgetting something important. No matter what, I can’t recall that information. “Well, he’s gone. If he comes next time, I will –”
“No matter what, don’t open the window.” My brother tilts his head and gives me a sly smile. “Just tell me when he appears. I am going to take his pictures and call the cops.”
“That’s a good idea.” I approve of my brother’s wits. “We can sue him. Since he is rich, we should get some huge amount of settlement money.”
Kyle stares at me as if I am a lost cause. Shaking his head, he closes the window. “It’s your turn to cook today.”
“I just went through a traumatic experience.” I sit down on the bed. “Can’t you make it? I know that you like cooking.”
“Fine.” He releases his breath. “Elise is more mature than you are.”
“Why must you remind me of her?” I scowl at him. Our eldest sister is part of the lab that is focussing on the vaccine. She has almost no time, but she did call me once after I woke up. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to survive in this house if she was living with us. She likes to nitpick about everything that I do.
He shrugs and walks away. After my parents come back, I will talk about moving back to going back to my apartment.
Since they are at the ancestral house, it will take a week or so. The story should be finished within a few days.
