The Villain’s Little Sister is Spoiled by the Male Lead - Chapter 167
Chapter 167
In the hospital room, Song Luokui held Song Moqian’s hand. Ever since she was young, Song Moqian had always obliged her wishes. He treated her and her brother quite differently – he was strict with her brother, but a compassionate father to her.
When she was a child and got injured, Song Moqian would swiftly arrive unless it was absolutely necessary not to, even if he was delayed due to work duties. In that case, he would send someone over before later apologizing to her.
Whenever he returned from a business trip, he would bring her gifts. He never attended Song Luosheng’s parent-teacher meetings, but he made time to attend hers when she was young.
Although he was busy with work and couldn’t always be there for her, she knew he loved her dearly.
Beside her, Chi Yu sat comforting Song Luokui. He too had been pondering this matter, not because he was overly sensitive, but because he felt there was something amiss – there had to be more to this incident than met the eye.
Until late at night, Song Moqian had not regained consciousness. Sheng Rong told them to leave first, saying she would take care of him overnight and that they should go home and rest, returning the next day.
Chi Yu took Song Luokui home and stayed with her until she fell asleep before preparing to leave. As he exited her room, he saw Song Luosheng.
The two exchanged glances before Chi Yu spoke first, “I will investigate this matter.”
Song Luosheng replied, “I will too.”
“I’ll go back first, and I’ll inform you if I find anything,” Chi Yu said.
Song Luosheng hesitated for a moment, then said, “Thank you.”
Chi Yu raised an eyebrow. “No need to thank me, just don’t come out next time when I’m with her.”
With an expressionless face, Song Luosheng retorted, “Get lost!”
Chi Yu remained unruffled, the corner of his mouth curving upwards as he left the Song Family home.
Back at his own home, Chi Yu entered the study and found his father, Chi Yong. “Father, Uncle Song had an accident and is in the hospital.”
Chi Yong looked up. “I’m aware of this.”
Chi Yu asked, “Was this someone’s doing?”
Chi Yong gave him a serious look. “It’s a complex matter. You needn’t concern yourself with it.”
Chi Yu frowned. “I will investigate it.”
With a sigh, Chi Yong said, “You may investigate, but don’t be rash. A single strand can unravel the entire tapestry – you must exercise restraint.”
Chi Yu took a deep breath. “I understand.”
“Don’t be hasty,” Chi Yong advised. “Those causing trouble will be dealt with.”
Once back in his room, Chi Yu immediately made a phone call…
The next day at the hospital, Song Moqian had finally regained consciousness, though he was still physically weak. The doctor said he would recover fully with some rest.
Song Luokui stayed at the hospital for most of the day. Song Moqian then told her, “Dad is fine. Don’t you have school? Go back to class first.”
Song Luokui pouted, “Dad, I took the day off.”
Sheng Rong chimed in, “Go back to school now, and come back after classes. Your mom and brother are here with me.”
Song Luokui hesitated for a moment. “Okay, I’ll come back after school then.”
“Alright.”
Sheng Rong looked at Chi Yu. “Chi Yu, could you please take her back to school?”
“Sure, Auntie.”
Since Song Luokui hadn’t returned to class after leaving last time, her classmate Xu Jiarong asked if everything was alright at home and if she needed any help upon her return.
“Something came up, but it’s fine now. Thank you for your concern,” Song Luokui replied.
Xu Jiarong said, “I’m glad it’s okay now. Let me know if you need anything.”
“Mmhmm, thank you.”
After school, it was Chi Yu who came to pick her up again. As Song Luokui fastened her seatbelt, she asked, “Don’t you have to go to work?”
“There are plenty of people at the company,” Chi Yu replied. “If they can’t function without me, then they’re not much use.”
“I suppose.”
…
While Chi Yu took Song Luokui to school, Sheng Rong also sent Song Luosheng away. Only then did she quietly ask Song Moqian, “Is this related to that scoundrel from the Lin Family?”
Song Moqian wrote something on her palm with his finger. Sheng Rong’s expression turned cold, her hand gripped tightly by Song Moqian’s. “Don’t worry. They won’t be able to cause much more trouble.”
“You can’t let this happen again,” Sheng Rong said worriedly. “You need to have more people with you. If something happened to you… what would Luokui and Luosheng do?”
Song Moqian smiled and squeezed her hand. “Don’t worry, I won’t leave you a lonely widow.”𝒩eew updates 𝒂t n𝒐vel/bi𝒏(.)com
Tears welled up in Sheng Rong’s eyes as she tightened her grip on his hand. She was scared too, but she had to remain calm.
Song Moqian helped wipe her tears. “I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“Just rest and recover soon,” Sheng Rong said. “There are still many matters that need you.”
“I know.”
Watching him fall asleep, Sheng Rong went to wash her face. They had been together for most of their lives – if something happened to Song Moqian, she probably couldn’t accept it.
After resting for over a month, Song Moqian had mostly recovered, though he still couldn’t be discharged. However, he could freely wander around the hospital every day.
When Song Luokui arrived at the hospital, she saw her father sitting on a chair by the flower bed, basking in the sun, with Uncle Zhang beside him. The two seemed deep in conversation.
Song Luokui called out to them, and they paused their chat.
Spotting her, Song Moqian immediately smiled. “Luokui’s here. How were your classes today?”
Song Luokui approached. “Pretty good.”
Song Moqian didn’t see Chi Yu, who had been following her. “Where’s Chi Yu?”
“He went to park the car.”
Speak of the devil – Chi Yu soon joined them. After some casual conversation, Song Moqian went back to his room to rest.
“My father said he might come to see you tomorrow,” Chi Yu told Song Moqian.
Song Moqian seemed a bit surprised. “He’s finally showing some concern.” However, he knew that aside from visiting him, Chi Yong likely had other matters to attend to. Although he hadn’t returned to work yet, Song Moqian was still receiving updates, and the investigation into this incident was still ongoing.
The next day, when Chi Yong visited, neither Chi Yu nor Song Luokui were present, nor was Song Luosheng – only Sheng Rong was there.
The three spoke in the hospital room for about half an hour before Chi Yong left.
After his departure, Sheng Rong said quietly, “I suppose we’ve truly boarded the Chi Family’s ship now.”
“As long as Luokui and Chi Yu are together for a day, we’re all on the same boat,” Song Moqian replied.
“Children are a debt, after all!”
“But it’s no matter,” Sheng Rong said. “The Chi Family has been around for so many years – no one will dare bully Luokui anymore.”
“You’re right,” Song Moqian agreed. “As parents, don’t we just want our children to be comfortable and able to do as they please?”
“He did mention wanting Luokui and Chi Yu to settle down soon, though.”
Song Moqian nodded. “They can settle down, but Luokui hasn’t even graduated yet. We’ll also need to pick an auspicious date. Luokui’s opinion is the main factor.”
“Mmhmm, I’ll ask Luokui about it later,” Sheng Rong said.
“Alright.”
Song Luokui still didn’t know about the plan for her and Chi Yu to get engaged, because they hadn’t been dating for very long.
She thought she should at least wait until graduation.
So when Sheng Rong asked her, she was confused, “Isn’t it too soon?”
Sheng Rong: “Then when do you think is a good time?”
Song Luokui lowered her head: “…At least until graduation. What if…what if we have a falling out and break up in the meantime?”
Sheng Rong: “…You’re still thinking about breaking up?” She knew how Chi Yu felt about her dear Luokui.
Song Luokui: “It’s just a possibility.” Her voice grew quieter as she spoke, mainly because she felt it was a bit too soon. She didn’t expect Chi Yu to come to her family with gifts and then propose so quickly.
On the side, Song Luosheng chimed in: “Exactly, if they’re rushing it so fast, what if the Chi family looks down on us? Maybe it would be better if Luokui just dumps him one day if she falls out of favor with him.”
Sheng Rong looked at him: “You, someone without a girlfriend, shouldn’t be talking.”
Song Luosheng: …He didn’t have a girlfriend, so what?
