The Voyage In The Blizzard - Chapter 22
“Savior? Yue-Liang I should clarify something for you. I didn’t kill that beast, I just squeezed it’s eyes and that’s it. The one who killed it was my Teacher.”
Yue-Liang gently smiled, stepping closer to him again he said, “But if it weren’t you then I wouldn’t be here. Because of you I could survive and it was you who disturbed that beast from killing me. I saw your face there on the Battlefield. You looked so angry that I thought for a moment that I mean something to you. It doesn’t matter if it was you or your teacher for me. What is important for me is that you helped me to survive and stay alive and what is more important is that you risked with your own life.”
“But still it is kinda unfair. You and other warriors kill hundreds of beasts on the Battlefield but I just squeezed out it’s eyeballs. So why, all of a sudden, did I become a hero?!” Longwei asked trying to hide that bulge in his pants which was (yes) still there..
“I wonder why you still don’t know what is the most important thing in this world.” Lowering his head Yue-Liang, one could say was flirting with him but holding himself from acting harsh he stepped back and whispered, “The most important thing is self – sacrifice in the name of bravery. You almost sacrificed yourself Longwei and that is enough to call you a hero.”
Without saying anything Longwei blushed a little.
“Alright, Longwei, I won’t take your time. I should go back now. I bet my father is already beating every warrior and soldier in my clan.” Casting a strange look at him Yue-Liang turned around and left him.
After the heroism of Longwei, in the First clan everyone was talking about him and how there were even lots of false rumors.
Saying that he and Yue-Liang are lovers, everyone quickly turned this into a fact.
And no matter what Longwei said against this “fact” everyone just ignored him.
Trying to convince everyone that what they are telling is not true he was on the verge of insanity. And what made him even more mad was the fact that Lei wasn’t there. Searching for him everywhere he still could find him. It was like he evaporated.
Unable to endure this anymore he went straight to Xing-Fu and surprisingly enough he wasn’t alone. The head of the Third clan and Yue-Liang were there too.
Thinking that this is a good moment to clarify things again Longwei approached them and without any ceremony said, “What happened on that battlefield, yes, was indeed very scary experience. Yes, I found Yue-Liang who was bleeding on the ground. I helped him to stand up and maybe I helped him to survive. And yes, I saw the beast. I attacked it. I squeezed out it’s eyes and then it tried to kill me. In that moment my Teacher Lei killed the beast from behind. And that’s it. It is not a big deal. So could you please stop acting like I am some kind of hero who saved the whole world from frost and beasts. I just don’t feel good about it. My father told me once that no matter what but you should always be honest with you and with others. So I don’t want to become a hero by just a single act of simple bravery. And by the way, I am here only for one year and then I will be free to live my life as I want. That is why please stop thinking that I am a hero. Master On, Master Xing-Fu, my apologies ” saying this Longwei bowed in front of them.
For a few seconds none of them said anything. But then On broke the silence, “You have saved my son so according to my clan’s rule I must reward you. You don’t want fame, you don’t want to be a hero then what do you want? Ask me anything.”
Longwei opened his mouth and was about to say something but Yue-Liang interrupted him, “Father, I think I should reward him myself.” He looked at Longwei the same cunning and kind smile appeared on his face. “He is my savior so I think it’ll be better if I reward him myself.”
On nodded his head, turning towards Xing-Fu he said, “Young men understand each other better.” Looking at Longwei On with his cold eyes tried to show some kind of emotion but failed. “Longwei, I will never forget your kind action. So if you need anything just tell me.”
Patting him on the back, On went away.
