The Voyage In The Blizzard - Chapter 52
Throughout the day, feeling intense anxiety and pressure, Longwei did not think that at the end of the day he would not be able to think or talk about anything at all.
Looking ahead with empty eyes, he did not say a word.
Only Xing Fu’s voice was heard. “Lei, what are you waiting for?! After all, it was you who was Longwei’s teacher for some time, and I think that only you should test Longwei’s powers. And besides, I want to see with my own eyes how a student is superior to a teacher.”
Lei bowing coldly and without any emotion said, “Yes Master.”
“That’s why I love examination fights, because you never expect everything to turn out. Who will win and who will show their true colors.” Sun added with a smirk on his face.
Xing Fu pushed Longwei slightly towards the field and said, “Don’t disappoint me. I have big plans for you, whether you like it or not.”
Longwei, as if spellbound, simply walked into the field which was covered with snowdrifts.
Without thinking about anything, not realizing what was happening, he looked down.
As night fell, the faint warmth of distant fire gently brushed his exposed skin. The wind walking to and fro slowly brought a blizzard, covering everything around with a thin snow veil.
Hearing Lei’s footsteps that finally stopped in front of him, Longwei stood straight with downcast eyes.
The silence was interrupted by the howl of the wind.
Standing opposite each other, after a short but long time for them, the two of them did not know how to take the first step and start this fight.
They didn’t know until Lei’s quiet voice sounded through the blizzard. “Longwei.” All he said was his name. And unable to stand on it any longer, Longwei pulled out his sword and struck the first blow.
The sharp blade met the flat surface of Lei’s sword. The sound of cleaving air sounded in their ears.
Freezing for a few seconds in this position, giving all the power to the swords, they both pushed each other away and Longwei finally came to his senses.
Still with downcast eyes, fearing that all the watching soldiers and Xing Fu would notice his uncontrollable feelings in his every move, he tried to strike as hard as possible. As if he was fighting a beast.
Without giving Lei a chance to strike back, Longwei continued to attack him with his sword.
A step forward, a step back, a sharp turn and a slight jump, the sound of a flying sword sounded in unison with Longwei’s heavy breathing.
Blocking the blows, Lei gripped the heavy weight of the sword, breathing deeply through his mouth on purpose. The steam escaping from his nose covered his face.
Longwei, unable to channel the force into the sword any longer, remembered that heaviest breath and the expression on Lei’s face when he was at the peak of releasing dangerous feelings.
Taking a few steps back, Longwei, holding the sword in front, felt the gazes on him.
Lei, not standing still, moved forward, wanting to get closer to Longwei. Using his sword as an excuse to seize the moment and get a little closer to him, Lei struck one blow after another with ingenious movements. Until Longwei’s sword was thrown aside.
As if pinning him in the air, Lei left the battlefield behind and finally led Longwei a little further away from everyone.
Deep snowdrifts made any movement almost impossible.
Longwei, still not raising his gaze, dodged every blow. But without the sword, he never touched Lei.
“Will you continue this fight without looking at me?” Lei asked raising his leg high up.
Bending back quickly, Longwei said nothing.
“Look at me.” Lei said in a commanding tone.
And when this time there was no answer, Lei was no longer able to carry on a conversation with the blizzard. He grabbed Longwei by the arm and flipped him over his shoulder.
Pushing him further into the snow with all his strength, Lei said, “Look at me.”
Feeling the weight of the person sitting on him, Longwei growled and suddenly hit Lei in the face. Grabbing his collar, he finally looked into his eyes. Despite the darkness, Lei’s eyes shone like two of the brightest stars.
The long-awaited meeting with glances awakened in them all those feelings that were tempered by the circumstances.
Continuing to squeeze his collar, Longwei knew he had to stop, but still couldn’t take his eyes off Lei’s face.
“Lei. Lei,” he whispered softly.
Lei wrapped his arms around him and threw him back to the ground. But Longwei, not wanting to lose, pushed him away with both feet.
Standing on their feet, looking into each other’s eyes, breathing heavily, as if in a dance, they wandered around until one of them again entered into battle.
Longwei, swinging his legs, kicked Lei in the chest in one high jump.
“Lei.”
Stopping all his flying blows in the air, Lei clasped both of Longwei’s arms back, and now was so close behind of him that Longwei felt a burning breath on his neck.
Leaning forward, thereby shifting Lei’s entire weight onto himself, Longwei released one of his hands and grabbed him by the collar and flung him forward. Lei, standing on his hands, did a somersault and the next moment Longwei, wrapping him with both legs, was at one level with his face.
“Longwei.”
“Lei.”
Throwing him aside, Lei took out a small knife from the inner pocket of his vest and threw it sharply at Longwei, but he, knowing this technique well, caught the flying knife just as sharply and threw it back.
Lei stooped down, pulled out another one and threw it again, but having overtaken him in this, Longwei knocked down the flying tip with his knife.
Blow after blow, knowing that the forces of both were equal, they still continued to play this role. Pretending they were just fighting, but actually using every painful blow as a strong desire to be touched.
Without having time to get as close as possible, they were still in battle as two warriors.
Using all his cunning fighting techniques, Longwei flew up like a bird and pushed Lei to the ground. Wrapping his arms around his neck, he tilted his head down, closer to Lei’s glowing eyes.
Over time, the snowstorm intensified, making the entire field almost invisible.
The two distant figures, moving rapidly, seemed like blurred patterns on the glass.
Realizing that they were too far away and hard to see, Lei quickly pulled Longwei to him and a warm kiss covered both of them.
Eagerly grasping each other, they still continued to move as if they were fighting. But despite the movement of their arms and legs, their lips were entwined.
“We need to finish this.” said Longwei, and suddenly jumped up and swung his leg, thereby again sweeping Lei off the ground.
“In that case, hold on.” Lei answered.
Further, the battle took on a more brutal character.
Lei, releasing all his powers like a beast, walked non-stop towards Longwei. His arms and legs moved faster than the wind.
Without giving the slightest rest, Lei struck one blow after another, and only a slight pain kept Longwei on his feet.
Dodging every swing of his foot, Longwei was finally able to kick him, causing him to fly away.
Excited by such a beautiful fight, On remarked, “They both move very beautifully. This is not a fight, but a whole art.”
To which Xing Fu replied, “They are both the best in this world. But one of them is stronger than the other.”
“And here is the answer to your question.” On said.
Longwei, at the very moment when Lei literally wrapped him in his arms, grabbed him around the waist, lifted him up and threw him back. Lei fell to the ground with a crash and felt a sharp pain in his back.
Aiming his sword at his face, Longwei was serious, and even angry.
“Lei, I think we both know who will be the next great warrior of the entire world.” said Xing Fu loudly.
Longwei without saying anything, attached his sword to his belt and walked towards the soldiers sitting by the fire.
Patting on the back, Delun and Baofeng-Xue were saying something in one voice, but Longwei did not hear them. Still feeling the heat in the places where Lei was striking, he suddenly felt very tired.
Sitting next to Xiaoli and Yue Liang, he lifted his head up. The sky was covered by a blizzard, yet it seemed to him impossibly beautiful. And all thanks to the fact that he looked at everything through the prism of love.
Noticing Yue Liang’s gaze on himself, he turned his head and saw an apple in front of him.
Holding it out, Yue Liang said with a smile on his face, “I tried to keep it closer to the fire, I think it’s not so icy.”
Longwei took it and said, “Your father is pleased with you. Which means that soon you will finally return to your clan.”
Playfully hitting him on the back, Yue Liang said, “You can’t wait to get rid of me. So this is what Master Longwei is.”
“Master?! Sounds strange.”
“Why?”
After finishing eating the apple, Longwei threw the leftovers into the fire. “To tell the truth, I don’t really want to be a teacher or a master. I feel embarrassed. Around me, all these soldiers, and they wanted only one thing, to finish training and then just defend their world. But I, I just hid in my hollow dreams, and now, for no apparent reason, I suddenly become the teacher of an entire clan. I know that half of these soldiers hate me. And maybe there is something to hate for. ”
Listening to him, Yue Liang trembled slightly from the wind, rubbing his hands together, he watched the fire dance despite the wind. “Longwei.” Looking around and making sure everyone was busy dragging the logs back to the village from the battlefield, Yue Liang said quietly, “You know how I feel about you. Longwei.” Lightly touching his hand, Yue Liang whispered, “I deeply respect you. But my respect is nothing compared to my feeling that does not give me peace.” Taking advantage of the moment when the snowstorm became stronger and the fire began to slowly go out, Yue Liang approached him and now when his breath was so close, Longwei suddenly heard a heartbreaking cry.
