The Voyage In The Blizzard - Chapter 69
After reading the legend, Longwei now knew who Yun Qi was and why she was born in this world. And with every day watching her development, he could not stop being proud of her.
Yun Qi, showing the best ability in battle, at 13 years old was already able to defeat several soldiers without using a sword. Having built a reputation for herself as the most insolent student in the entire school, she was exactly like Longwei, but only much better. She could already throw knives and show the keenness of her mind.
The prodigy among the crowd, Yun Qi, despite her graceful movements, was like a wild rose with thorns. And Longwei could only guess what she would become in a few months.
Keeping one secret, Longwei and Lei became even closer to each other after all that happened. Their relationship moved to new levels every day. After all, nothing brings together as a shared secret.
Protecting Yun Qi, they flew like two falcons nearby while she peacefully continued to study and explore this world..
“Grandpa, let me help you with the collection of wool. You work day and night. Maybe you should feel sorry for yourself.” Longwei objected when the old farmer drove him out of the barn.
“I don’t need your help. Go away. And anyway, I only allowed him to be here. Until he returns to the clan of course.” said the old man quickly folding the wool into cloth sacks.
“Please let me help you. You have done so much good for us. Let me repay you with kindness.” Longwei said and approached one of the fluffy creatures.
Grabbing another stick, the farmer was about to throw it at him again, but catching Lei’s eyes he stopped.
“If you want to help, then don’t waste your time. I need to finish all this by lunchtime. And you, don’t stand idle. Go clean the barn.” he ordered Lei.
Singing an incomprehensible tune of the song, Longwei sat right on the pile of snow and began to fold the soft wool into bags. Now, knowing that he can act for the good of the future, which finally awaits everyone with confidence, he was not at all worried about Sun and his dirty plans. For the first time in his life, feeling confident in the future, without holding back a smile, he continued to live from day to day while Yun Qi learned to read, fight and dream.
Catching the eyes of Lei, who had already finished cleaning and now leaning against the wooden wall of the house stood and looked at him, Longwei looked away. Blushing at Lei’s gaze, he continued to fold the wool.
Slowly walking towards him, Lei made several circles around the fluffy creature which was resting it’s head on the snow, and at that moment when the old farmer turned away, he bowed to Longwei’s forehead and gently kissed him.
Pretending not to notice it, Longwei continued to do his job.
Walking and kicking snow on his way, Lei smiled playfully at the embarrassed Longwei.
“You two, are you in love with each other?” The old man asked suddenly.
Dropping the bag from his hands, even more embarrassed, Longwei grabbed it back and quickly entered the barn.
“I know about everything. You can not hide it. But it is your business. Do what you want.” grumbled the farmer. Turning in their direction again, he asked again, “So what? Are you in love or not?”
To which Lei replied, “Grandpa, nothing can be hidden from you.”
“In all my years of life, I have learned to see a lot. And hear a lot too.”
Sitting lazily on a broken chair, Lei leaned back. “Grandpa, have you forgiven me?” he asked suddenly.
From no one knows where, the old farmer took the stick again and without hesitation threw it directly at Lei and when it hit his head, he satisfyingly smiled. Bending over, clutching his lower back, he sat down on the bags and, shaking his head, said, “How can I forgive you. After what you did with my worries.”
“What have I done with them?”
“Don’t pretend you don’t know.”
“I really don’t know.”
Waving his hand, the farmer got up and, holding on to a stick, grumbled about something and went into his house.
Finally, feeling the slightest freedom from the constant supervision of this old man, Longwei grabbed the snow and threw it directly at Lei. Seeing Lei’s expression, he laughed loudly and at the same second regretted what he had done.
Catching him before he could escape, Lei threw him into the snow and hugged him.
Continuing to laugh, Longwei said, “Get up. If your grandfather sees us like this, he will think badly of us.”
“He’s not my grandfather.” Lei answered while continuing to hug him.
“But he doesn’t think so. And in general, you too cruel to him. He is still not a stranger to you. After all, he was a friend of your father. And besides, he helped you more than once when you needed support.”
“I remember everything he did to me a long time ago. But I tried to get closer to him as before, but he pushes me away.”
“You just didn’t try to talk to him normally. Lei, stop it! Stop it!” Turning over, Longwei grabbed Lei by both hands and bent down and noticing a strange look full of sparks, he asked, “What kind of look is this?”
“What look?”
“Yours. What are you thinking about?”
Pulling him to himself, Lei only wanted to approach his face as the farmer threw a stick in their direction and cried out, “Shameless!”
“Grandpa! How many sticks can you throw at us! And where do you get this from? Do you have a whole warehouse of sticks there?”
“Oh, you arrogant!”
Starting to chase the fleeing Lei, the elderly man, waving his stick, frightened all the Snowballs who were sleeping peacefully.
Watching them with a smile, Longwei took a bite of an apple and looked towards the stone wall behind of which there was a school. Leaving the bitten off apple on the stump, he said, “I have to go somewhere.” But no one heard him.
With a light gait, walking slowly towards the wall, he whistled a melody. Twisting a strand of hair around his finger, despite the frost, he did not feel uncomfortable as before at all. Now everything around him had a light of hope. Hope for the future.
Climbing the wall and just as quickly jumping off it, while there was no one, he quickly ran and hid behind a box full of wooden swords.
Hearing the quiet and gentle voices that came from the direction of a beautifully built building with patterns in the form of birds on the walls and with a roof on which there was a small lighthouse with one window, Longwei decided to listen closely to what they were talking about.
Through a small window that was on the same level with the ground, he slowly raised his head and he could see a bright white room where almost all of the young students were studying something.
Sitting at small tables on which were books and papers, the tired-looking young soldiers tried with all their might to look interested in what the old man in a white long robe was saying.
“And here everything has changed.” he thought. Trying to find Yun Qi from the crowd, he first recognized the son of Xiaoli, who bore his name, then Xing Fu, who was a copy of Baofeng-Xue, and then the son of Eagle, who, like him, was in a fur hat.
Laughing at this resemblance, he closed his mouth and continued looking for Yun Qi.
Finally, seeing the hand held high, Longwei immediately recognized it from behind.
“Yes Yun Qi. Do you have any thoughts on this?” asked the teacher walking a little closer to her.
Standing out from the crowd, despite the fact that she did everything as Lei told her, namely, she behaved more cold-blooded and rude, tried not to go with everyone to the bathroom and, most importantly, do everything so that her thin voice sounded rougher, Yun Qi still was very different.
Delicate and intelligent features and piercing eyes betrayed her uniqueness. Still, having received what she considered the honorary title of “Most Warlike Disciple,” Yun Qi quickly created a loud reputation around her.
As the child of the legendary Longwei who was rumored in almost every corner of this world, she was repeatedly teased by her peers. Having created numerous legends about Longwei, which said that he killed Xing Fu or that he intends to take over all three clans, her classmates more than once tried to hurt her feelings by calling her the “son” of the villain. But having a brave and stubborn character, she quickly brought them to their senses with one blow of her fist.
Wiping away the curly strand of hair that had stuck into her eyes from her face, Yun Qi lazily glanced around at everyone and said, “What you just said is not right.”
“And what is right then? This is the most important thing that a person should keep and develop in himself.”
“Master, what kind of world are we living in?” she asked impudently.
Looking at her with some contempt, another teacher who was a little younger than the others said, “And so we will continue on.”
“But I didn’t finish!”
“Yun Qi sit down!”
“I said that I didn’t finish. What kind of teacher are you who does not let the student finish? Or do you think that only your opinion matters?” Yun Qi objected.
Baofeng-Xue’s son, Xing Fu, pulled her hair slightly and whispered, “Sit down.”
“No. I’ll finish it.”
“Yun Qi! Sit down or get punished!” cried the teacher waving his hand.
Before Yun Qi could object, an old man in a black fur mantle entered the hall and grabbed her hand and wanted to take her away.
“Let me go! And you call this a school!”
“Yun Qi! We put up with your antics every day, that’s enough! You bring too many problems. Not only you are constantly fighting with everyone, you also do not show the slightest respect for your elders.”
“And by respect you mean suppressing my thoughts?” Yun Qi said, breaking free from the elder’s hands.
“Take him away! And don’t let him escape.” ordered the younger teacher.
“Let me go!”
And then, unable to endure any longer how his daughter was treated, Longwei, breaking the upper window with a crash, jumping over it was already in the spotlight.
“What are you doing here?!”
Quickly snatching Yun Qi out of his hands, Longwei cried out, “He made it clear that he wanted to say something. Or opinion of others is not important to you?!”
“You can’t be here. Go away! Guardians!”
“Who do you think you are? And these are the most respected teachers of all Three Mountains!”
Watching with obvious interest how Longwei pushed away the guards and with impudence approached the young teacher, all the young soldiers were glad that finally, the lesson became interesting.
Whispering to each other, they continued to look at the legendary Longwei, and then one of the young soldiers said loudly, “You are Longwei! I heard a lot about you! Is it true that you killed Xing Fu? Is it true what you want? Take all three clans for yourself? ”
Starting to make noise, everyone began to shout and argue until the elder tapped the table with a stick. “Not only have you burst in here, you are also creating chaos! What are you allowing yourself? An adult warrior, and what an example do you set for everyone.”
Standing in front of Longwei, Yun Qi said, “What example are you setting? Are you telling this to my father? You teach us all day to keep cold-blooded and pure mind while you and your subordinates are full of poison. You yourself said that a warrior should be without emotions in order to survive or to accept death with his head held high. And now you are blushing with anger.”
Noticing the reddening on the teachers’ faces, which clearly showed that they were trying their best to show their calmness, Longwei laughed and gently pushed Yun Qi’s hand.
“Am I right? Brother Xing Fu, why are you silent?” she asked, looking at the son of Baofeng-Xue, who was diligently sitting and reading his book.
“Longwei, your presence always leads to chaos. You have already earned a bad reputation in these parts, and now you are still able to go out and speak sarcastic sentences. Maybe what they say is true, maybe a real monster is hiding behind a beautiful mask.” going up to him said the young teacher.
After clearing his throat, Longwei said with a smile on his face, “So you’re saying I’m beautiful?!”
“Guardians!”
“What an ill-mannered you are. Talk to me in that tone and haven’t introduced yourself yet. Weren’t you taught that you should introduce yourself and only then throw phrases.”
The young teacher threw his long and loose hair behind his back and frowned with an embittered look. But in fact, it was clear from him that he was holding on with his last strength so as not to hit Longwei in the face.
“Children! Do not take an example from him. If you want to learn about beasts and how to become a better warrior, then better study the movements of the clouds, this will help you more in life than the teachings of this person.” Longwei said pointing at him.
“Longwei! Show us how to kill the beast!”
“Yes! Better tell us about them! Is it true that beasts can read your mind?!”
Jumping up, all the young soldiers surrounded Longwei from all sides.
“Well, since you want a real lesson. Then listen.” Longwei began.
“Stop this show! Longwei! Having lost the head of the clan, you decided to indulge in willful behavior? It would be better if you continued to lead the life of an outcast.” said the young teacher bitterly. And suddenly changing the expression of his face to a frightened surprise, he slightly bowed down and lowered his eyes.
Influencing him in this way, Lei entered the hall and said, “How lucky I am that I was not your student.”
Showing obvious respect for him, the elder and the other two teachers bowed their heads and fell silent.
Taking a quick glance at Longwei, Lei said seriously, “We have to go.”
“Give me a minute.”
“We have no time.”
“Longwei tell us about the beasts!” shouted someone from the crowd.
Realizing from Lei’s gaze that something serious had happened, Longwei said, “I’ll tell you next time! No, I’d rather show you the real beast next time.”
“Alive?!”
“Sure!”
Taking Yun Qi by the hand, Longwei walked towards the main exit through enthusiastic voices. But stopping, he turned and looking at the young teacher said, “When you are fighting beasts, try not to become a beast yourself.”
