The Voyage In The Blizzard - Chapter 80
“Dad! Three-headed dragon!” shouted Yun Qi and quickly climbed even higher, raised her hand with a sword and began to wave it.
“Yun Qi!” Running in her direction, Longwei wanted to grab her, but slipping on a pool of blood, fell hard. Having smashed his head, he lost consciousness.
“Stop!” Throwing a knife in the direction of a dragon with three heads flying directly at Yun Qi, Lei missed, and then he kicked off the stone and jumped with a sharp point forward directly at one of the dragon’s heads.
The three-headed dragon, meanwhile, soared even higher, not wanting to hurt him, directed his middle head forward while his other two heads on long necks were directed down.
“Yun Qi run!” shouted Lei.
When he woke up, Longwei closed his eyes from a blinding flash, and when he opened his eyes again, Yun Qi was no longer in the place where she had stood a second ago.
“No! Yun Qi!”
Lying in the middle of the blood and dead bodies of beasts, Longwei, exhausted, dropped his head to the ground.. Unable to stand up, he could only mutter Yun Qi’s name.
Weaker each time, he knew that the end was very near, but still hoping that he would live until the final path, he said the name of Lei.
“Find Yun Qi. Hurry.” he whispered, coughing and gasping for air.
“What happened to you?”
“Yun Qi. Faster.” Pushing his hand away, he was able to shout, “Leave me! Take Yun Qi to the Kingdom and do everything to make her happy.”
Without saying anything, Lei lifted him and with one blow of his sword killed the monster that was running towards them.
Gliding through death, Lei walked forward like an eternal phoenix against the background of red fire, with courage in his soul. With wings which will never betray him.
“Find Yun Qi.” continued to repeat Longwei hanging upside down.
“The three-headedness is the three-headed dragon. Flying through the snow. This is the continuation of our journey.” said Lei as he climbed another rock.
Driving away the dragons like flies with his trusty sword, Lei shouted as loud as possible, “Yun Qi!” Raising her sword as she did, and at the very moment when the fire reflected on his blade, the outlines of the three-headed were visible through the fog of steel.
“Don’t let him go! Catch him!” someone shouted.
Hearing the clink of someone’s armor, Lei ignored him and continued to stand like a statue.
“What are you standing for?! Catch him!”
After waking up, Longwei got to his feet and made a sharp turn around his axis and kicked the soldier in the head and made him fly several meters away.
“You woke up in time.” Lei said with a certain joy and excitement in his voice.
Lifting his head, Longwei was finally able to make out that very dragon.
Soaring high in the sky, the dragon whose wings were the color of malachite, flying through the fire, with a certain calmness not inherent in other dragons, was now heading for the glint of the sword blade.
“Three-headedness Longwei.” Lei repeated.
While approaching, the three-headed dragon accelerated his flight and soon suffocating from the hot stream of wind, Longwei could finally see Yun Qi.
Sitting astride the dragon, she shouted, “When he lands, quickly jump onto his back!”
“Longwei are you ready?”
Without waiting for an answer, Lei grabbed his hand and, dragging him along, jumped up and the earth literally left from underneath.
Grasping the rough and slightly prickly skin of the dragon, Longwei and Lei clinging tightly to the hot flesh for the first time ever laughed loudly. But that was not a happy laugh, but rather a nervous one.
“Are you out of your mind?” Yun Qi asked.
Stopping, Longwei looked down. “I can’t believe we’re riding a dragon.”
Catching the gaze of one head, Lei realizing that this creature was different from the others said, “This is a kind dragon.”
“He will help us reach the solitary mountain.” Yun Qi said while sitting quietly on one of the necks.
Studying the reliefs of the stone surface that remained far below, Longwei still did not know whether to fear or rejoice. But the sight that opened before them could not fail to make their hearts flutter.
Making a strange sound, the three-headed dragon turned all his heads on them and began to study them at close range.
Considering this as a danger, Longwei grabbed his sword, but noticing a certain sparkle in their eyes, which for some reason forced him to trust them, he calmed down.
Large amber-colored eyes, keeping the shine of fire, reflected something other than kindness and calmness. He was not a monster that breathed out fire, he was a creature that was created to contemplate nature, a creature that was part of that forgotten world in which there was no place for war or cold.
Exhaling warm air through their large nostrils, the three heads together made a sound and continued to stare straight ahead.
Stroking the rough skin and examining the pattern on each wing that resembled waves of the sea, Lei said, “If it hadn’t been for this dragon, we might have lost that battle. We were fortunate that our path was less difficult.”
Pulling on Yun Qi’s hair, Longwei shouted, “What are you thinking? Why do you keep prying into the hands of danger?!”
“Do not shout at me!”
“And what else will you order me to do?! I can’t keep track of you at all! What if this dragon would burn you? Do you even know what is dangerous and what is not?!”
“Hush. You scared the dragon.”
“It is not for nothing that almost everyone leaves their children. Seeing how your child begs for danger is equal to death itself.” Longwei said.
“So you regret not leaving me? You are sorry that you created me at all?!” Yun Qi began.
“Looking at your recklessness, yes, I regret now.” Longwei replied without thinking of what he had just said.
Silently turning away, Yun Qi no longer turned towards him.
Pushing him, Lei whispered, “Why did you say that?”
Throwing a meaningful look at him, Longwei said nothing. Staring down, he allowed time to pass through him, taking his life force with every meter that brought them closer to the Kingdom.
Falling asleep from the monotony of flight through the pale clouds, the three of them, warming themselves against the dragon’s hot body, tried to maintain clarity of mind. Although the urge for sleep was still stronger.
Smoothly skirting the clouds and leaning a little to the right side, starting to land, the Three-headed Dragon flew a route known only to him.
From time to time, maintaining a conversation with each other, the dragon succumbed to the gusts of the blizzard that raged below.
Opening his sleepy eyes, Lei at first did not understand what he saw in front of him. But over time, gaining awareness of what was happening, he said, “The Mountain. Longwei, Yun Qi look.”
Approaching the solitary Mountain which had been teasing them from far away for so many days in a row, the three-headed dragon, as if deliberately flying around it from all sides, thereby showing how it looked close, began to land below.
Holding back her curiosity and emotions, Yun Qi only casually looked around the snow-covered mountain and continued to be silent further.
Shielding himself from the icy snow wind that was coming down the mountain, Longwei noticed that the dragon began to fly in a strange way. “Why does it seem to me that he wants to throw us off?”
“Indeed. Hold on!”
Flying almost sideways, the dragon spread his wings in one line. As they clung to him, they felt they could no longer ignore the force of gravity that was pulling them down.
Panting from the strong wind, Lei could not resist falling down.
Grabbing Yun Qi’s hand, Longwei tried to hold on as long as possible, but when the dragon made a sharp turn, their hands let go of each other.
Falling to the ground from such a height, Longwei first began to look for Yun Qi. But there was no one around.
Only he and a lonely, white surface.
