The Voyage In The Blizzard - Chapter 96
Nature, knowing what was happening, raised heavy clouds above all and showed the anger in the form of heavy rain and bright lightnings.
For several days while the war continued, when the once peaceful kingdom again felt what it was many centuries ago, all this again swallowed the minds of every inhabitant.
Following all the instructions of the royal army, the inhabitants sat in silence in their cellars, afraid to go out and see what was happening. For a moment, distant from reality, they felt only fear.
Small children, falling asleep to the sounds and screams of beasts, woke up from time to time and grabbed the hand that tried to calm them down.
The dark green roofs turned black under the color of blood and rain. And from a bird’s eye view, it seemed that death itself marked every house below with its bony hand.
The war between the creatures of damnation and the warriors of the two worlds was perhaps the most brutal story that ever came out of the pen of death.
Going into the attack, the warriors of the First and Third Clans, as always, tried to kill the clawed creatures, but the longer they stood on the battlefield, the more they lost their people.
And yet in a fierce battle, everyone could see out of the corner of their eye what a wonderful world they were in. And even those who, dying, took their last breaths, were grateful that they finally saw such a majestic beauty.
Carrying on his back a wounded warrior who was without one arm, trying to run under the weight of his body, Baofeng-Xue gliding along the grass on which there were already rivers of dark blood of monsters and warriors, continued his way. Running past the crowd monsters that clumsily rushed at him, he finally reached the gate behind which it was calm for several days, he put the warrior on the ground and gave him some water.
“Don’t worry. You will survive. Just squeeze your shoulder.” he said and ran forward.
During all this time in the kingdom, he had already managed to explore almost the entire city. Protecting the inhabitants by using both arrows and his sword, he killed every bloodthirsty creature.
Not noticing how the ice world and the world of waterfalls combined forces and now fought side by side, looking back at the towers of the palace stretching upward, he noticed a silhouette in a tiny window at the very top. But when he heard someone’s voice, he instinctively walked around the statue of an eagle and found a young girl on the ground.
Clutching the wound on her leg, she was unable to stand up, faintly calling for help. And with every sound of her for help it seemed so vague that she would soon lose consciousness.
Baofeng-Xue ran up to her and said, “Let me help you. It’s not safe here.”
Raising her eyes, the girl shook her head and wanted to answer, but then her forces completely left her alone with a desire to survive.
Lifting her, Baofeng-Xue said, “Hold on tight.”
“Home. My home.” the girl muttered.
“Where is your home? Open your eyes!”
Looking around and seeing whole rows of identical houses, not knowing where to run, he decided to continue walking straight ahead.
Finding the empty house, he entered and locked himself from the inside.
Putting the girl on the sofa, he touched her forehead, which was cold as ice.
“Can you hear me?” he asked, lightly shaking her by the shoulders.
Suddenly, a sound like a knock on a door was heard everywhere.
Bending down, Baofeng-Xue slightly opened the curtains and saw that beasts had come to this part of the city.
Noticing a clear change in them, he wanted to ask himself, but refraining from this venture, he simply watched as they dragged bodies and swords along with them.
At that time, the girl began to wake up slowly.
Since the window to the house was ajar, her scream or even a low voice could be easily heard. Afraid that she would cry out, Baofeng-Xue approached her and pressed his index finger to his lips.
Frightened but obviously curious looking at him, the girl froze. Baofeng-Xue, at this close distance, could see how beautiful her dark green eyes were.
Not holding back a smile from the beauty he saw, he blushed and looked down. The girl did the same.
Having completely forgotten that the most bloodthirsty creatures were walking behind a thin door and an open window, the two of them, embarrassed but nevertheless with obvious interest, continued to look at and study each other.
Crouching with pain in her leg, the girl involuntarily dropping her head on his shoulder sighed heavily but quietly.
After making sure that the monsters left, Baofeng-Xue whispered, “Are you in pain?”
To which the girl replied, “Of course it hurts. An arrow pierced my leg.”
“Now I will try to take this pain away.” he said and taking some dried leaves from his supra-chest pocket he applied it to her wound. “It should help.”
“What is your name?” the girl asked, having already forgotten about the pain and about how the leaves created a little tingling sensation.
“Baofeng-Xue.”
“And what does it mean?”
“Blizzard.”
“What’s this? A blizzard.”
“It’s hard to explain. It’s like there are so many dandelions in the air. So many that it’s hard to see anything.” he explained.
Looking curiously at him, the girl suddenly laughed but immediately became serious. “Then I will call you Dandelion.”
“I never thought I’d be given that nickname.” he whispered to himself.
Changing her smiling mood to a frightened girl, she pointed to the door.
Grabbing the sword, Baofeng-Xue walked to the window.
Looking out through the open window, he saw a tall figure in front of this house with disheveled hair and dirt on his clothes. Having recognized who it was, he shouted, “Lei!”
“Baofeng-Xue! What are you doing here? Where is Longwei?” Lei asked, grabbing him by the shoulders and almost lifting him.
“I don’t know. I thought he was with you.”
After releasing him, Lei wanted to continue searching, but Baofeng-Xue grabbed him. “Wait. My son said that Yun Qi went to Tiger Mountain.”
“Tiger Mountain?” the girl interrupted their conversation with her question. Looking somewhere to the side, she said, “I heard from the soldiers that a bloody battle is going on at the foot of the Tiger Mountain. And that there is almost no one alive.”
“Tiger Mountain, is it in that direction?”
“Yes. Yes, it is a mountain between the two smallest waterfalls.”
Lei looked at both of them, his eyes were full of anger and fear but he began to run forward with all his might.
Automatically throwing his sword, Lei, leaving behind him traces of blood, ran forward like an arrow of time.
Hearing nothing, for a moment becoming deaf, the whole world completely ceased to exist for him.
Heavy but warm drops of rain have now become a kind of consolation for everyone, a sign of cleansing from fear and death.
Hanging over all the mountains, black clouds with the patterns of lightning brought the night with them.
A warm raindrops were pouring down and once on the ground, they were mixed with the rivers of blood.
On the way, when he left the city behind, Lei saddled the abandoned horse and pulled the bridles and the four-legged creature galloped towards the tiger mountain.
Under the interference of the rain lines, not noticing the monsters that were running at him, Lei pulled his horse by the bridle once again to add speed and two huge wings flew up sharply but gracefully.
The loud, almost shaking rumble of the most powerful thunder brought Lei’s chaotic mind to itself, and thus sounded in his heart.
Then the next thunderbolt on the ear membrane made him scream loudly. The winged horse once flapped its wings stretched its neck and flew straight to Tiger Mountain.
Being many meters from the ground, Lei noticed several warriors flying to meet him. Royal knights aiming arrows downwards provided support to those who were on the ground.
Flying past him, one of the warriors waved his hand at him, but Lei did not understand this gesture and pulled on the bridle.
Approaching the Tiger Mountain, he did not have time to pull the bridle or say that he was already in place, as Pegasus, reading his thoughts, began to land.
Having landed carefully, the horse looked at Lei and, slightly shaking his head, galloped off and disappeared into the rain.
Brushing off a lock of wet hair from his face, Lei, under the melody of thunder and under the light of lightning, moved to meet death that was waiting for him at every corner and on every branch.
Hearing the sound of a waterfall to his right and left, he realized that he was in place.
“Yun Qi!” he screamed loudly thereby attracting the attention of the beasts. “Yun Qi! Longwei!”
All alone, as it once was on the battlefield, he moved his heavy legs through the grass. He looked around in the hope of seeing Yun Qi. But all that he saw were the dead bodies of the warriors whom he once taught the skill of the sword.
Without going into grief, Lei continued to shout Yun Qi’s name until she finally answered.
“Lei! Where are you?”
“I am here. I am running towards the mountain.”
“Where is Dad?”
“I can’t hear you! Wait for me!”
Before he had time to speed up his step, he saw her figure through the downpour, he grabbed her and hugged her tightly.
“Where is Dad?” she asked, squeezing his hands.
“I don’t know. I’m sorry. Yun Qi, are you okay?”
“We have to keep going. Lei, I think I found the place where Jang Sun died.”
“Then let’s go there quickly.”
Taking her hand, Lei ran forward without knowing the way.
“Longwei is okay.” Lei said to calm her down, although it was a silly idea to calm someone in the middle of the battlefield.
“Lei behind!” shouted Yun Qi.
Looking back, he saw a crowd of Second Clan warriors.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the long body of the beast grabbed Lei from all sides and made him fall.
Wrapping its long arms around him, the monster, looking into his eyes, opened its mouth from which could be seen his heart covered with bloody layers of veins.
Squeezing him with all its strength, the monster did not stop until it heard the crunch of his bones.
Lei shouted loudly and, gritting his teeth in pain, tried to free himself from the monster’s embrace, but it only squeezed him even tighter, like a snake killing prey.
“Yun Qi! What a naughty you are. How hard it is to catch you. How many problems have you brought to all of us. And how many have you killed. Is this good behavior for a beautiful girl like you?”
“It is time to be obedient.”
“Come to us.”
Surrounding her on all sides, the army of the Second Clan, creating a living wall around, went forward, clutching swords in their hands.
“Get away from her!” Lei shouted and the monster that would not let him go continued to squeeze him until he heard the crunch of his ribs himself.
“Get away from me!” Yun Qi exclaimed, and waved her sword from side to side.
“And you are very brave. Very very brave.”
“It’s not for nothing that they called you luck. You really brought us all luck. Just look in what a beautiful world we are now. And it’s all thanks to you.”
“Get away from her!”
“Kill him already!” shouted someone from the crowd and tightening its grip, the monster opened its mouth and squeezing what turned out to be Lei’s fragile bones, it emitted a loud scream, which was immediately replaced by thunder.
