The Way of the Sword (BL) - Chapter 168
Rong Shui set her eyes on the excited and confident Qian Dalai, he wore the simple clothes given by the sect and no ornaments, but the way he held the sword was not similar to other novices.
She smiled slightly, she knew it would be nice to make friends with a child who was very frank and sincere, mainly, she saw talent in the child. She knew that nobody would become a strong somebody one day.
Whereas 16-year-old Qi Pei and 17-year-old Lei Ning are long-time friends of Zhie Quan, they were not nobles but sons of wealthy merchants. Of course, they were marginalized in the noble group, but they didn’t care as long as they could follow the young master Zhie Quan, as a consequence they were treated a little better by Bohai Xiulan, as Zhie Quan is a dear friend and faithful follower of the boy.
They looked around slightly and didn’t pay attention anymore, they had a much simpler mind, they just had to do their best to win a place.
Lei Ning groped his chest until he found the round locket near his chest, this was an item his father had long bought to protect him at least once from a surprise attack. The long shape of the eyes and thick lashes framed the light brown rum-like irises and the thin pink lips made up the fair-skinned face, the black hair like ripe black olives gleaming in the sun was pulled back into a high ponytail.
A very attractive young man, but very serious and had delicate eyebrows that made his face look soft, 14-year-old Ji Huo was attracted to the older teenager, of course, as a narrow-minded young woman with little experience of life, she thought it would be good to get the boy’s attention using the mockery with other novices considered “poor” to be seen in a comparatively better way.
“Old brother Lei, don’t you think this baboon-faced little boy is very arrogant?” Ji Huo spoke loudly still holding Rong Shui’s arm. She spoke with a happy smile at having received the older teenager’s attention, who looked slightly shocked, but Ji Huo didn’t notice it.
Her self-centered and selfish temperament failed to make her realize Rong Shui’s displeasure at such rude behavior and Lei Ning’s surprise at such a lack of education in a person who placed himself on the level of a nobleman.
“Who is little sister Ji talking about?” Qi Pei asked after a moment of silence from his friend, he didn’t want to embarrass the other person, but knowing his old friend this kind of useless and rude conversation was annoying for the other teenager. Even Qi Pei felt that the young girl’s rudeness was too much and for no apparent reason, as everyone was in quiet silence.
“From that person with the round cheeks,” Ji Huo not noticing the coldness in Lei Ning’s silence kept talking loud enough for all the new group 7 disciples to hear and everyone looked to where the 14-year-old was pointing.
Ji Huo wasn’t lucky enough to have Sun Jie’s sunny beauty and Rong Shui’s calm and gentle beauty, she was just a young girl with an unremarkable appearance, which left her with low self-esteem most of the time, especially, when she a stark contrast to her pretty friends.
Without guidance from adults or guardians that would lead Ji Huo to cultivate a noble and dignified character that would be far better than having a passing beauty, she could only get even uglier in her personality, despite the sweetness she showed to her friend Rong Shui and how she acted like a flatterer to Sun Jie.
Of course, life would come to put Ji Huo in the place of the insignificance she should be until she could evolve in her character.
The eyes fell on Qian Dalai’s body, group 7 would take a little longer to be called. Thanks to Wen Jie damaging the wooden puppet, so the puppet was taken to Elder Han for restoration, it would only take about 10 minutes to fix, as the damage was not to the puppet’s core, but only the outside was worn away.
Qian Dalai wasn’t the only one with round cheeks and far from looking like a baboon, but in Ji Huo’s childishness, she just said anything that would offend anyone.
However, Qian Dalai’s indifferent gaze was surprising for a 10-year-old, but with such an old soul why would he care about a child offending him?
“What was it you have nothing to say? So at least you already know you have this ugly face and these big, fat cheeks!” Ji Huo who was intimidated and embarrassed by the little boy’s indifferent gaze continued to talk nonsense as the eyes of the other novice disciples fell on her after the shocking indifference of a 10-year-old boy.
“I don’t talk to weak people” Qian Dalai spoke into the air while sighing as if just giving Ji Huo a look was very painful.
“You!” Ji Huo was agitated. She didn’t believe she was weaker than a poor boy in simple robes and who didn’t have any protection tokens. That is, he had no apparent wealth.
“If your friends want to talk, I’ll all be heard,” Qian Dalai said with an almost fierce smile, the steady gaze that stared at Lei Ning seemed to want to provoke the older teenager into a fight.
Rong Shui wanted to laugh a little, but she didn’t want to add more fuel to the fire and didn’t want to make her young friend any more embarrassed, so just casting an amused look at the 10-year-old was her only reaction is holding Ji Huo’s arm tightly and not to let the girl humiliate herself further.
Lei Ning and Qian Dalai were exchanging glances for a few seconds before Yun San interfered as he saw group 7’s agitation already drawing the attention of the bored audience.
Yun San’s eyes were on Qian Dalai’s figure from the moment he stepped into the battle arena, he didn’t know if it was because he was comforted earlier by the child or just the fear that this child would cause some kind of confusion, but he paid attention to the 10-year-old boy’s movements, almost like an older blood brother.
Yun San was right, it didn’t take long for a fool to tease this little battle maniac and for Qian Dalai to want to fight the older novice disciples who seemed to have a stronger family history, which could lead to a loss already that it was possible that these same disciples had special techniques or prior training.
Of course, Yun San was thinking too much and decides to interfere so that Qian Dalai doesn’t get hurt or kicked out of the test for rioting.
