- Chapter 132 Pandemonia's End and A Staredown
Lucille jumped down from the balcony with Clyde quickly following after. She walked up to the new tower of bodies in one of her palace’s courtyards.
It raised high into the now blackened sky. Small torches started lighting up in the city and in the palace, serving as the only light source in the dark and gloomy capital. But even with their brightness, the tower stayed dreary and the flames only allowed it to cast a looming shadow over anyone that came near it.
And resting atop that tower was her very own descendant, although from the very distant and far ‘future’.
“Princess Edge Lord sitting atop of their edgy tower brooding~? Please let down your glorious silver hair~!”
Clyde twitched at Lucille’s singsong voice and the words spoken by it.
Nothing was heard in response to Lucille’s call. But a bit later, she saw him sliding down the tower to come meet her.
“Lucille.”
“Yeah? What is it?”
She said so with a casual tone, even when she could feel the somberness tone in Cole’s voice.
“When I die, even if that may be a thousand years later in the future…”
“…Will I go here and become like these people?”
Although Cole had said it as a question, something was telling Lucille that he was already convinced of the fact.
“Cole, the people here are people who have sinned or the offspring of such people.”
Lucille wasn’t sure of what to think of the people who could still find ‘love’ in such a place. But whatever she was thinking barely mattered. Her focus was on the man wondering if he’d get suck in the place that was sort of hell.
“I have as well.”
“I took the brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers of many on the enemy’s side.”
Cole stated it as a fact because it was. His face didn’t show any emotion and nor was there any kind of shaking in his voice. It was as if he had come to terms with such. Lucille didn’t know the exact reason why he decided to suddenly ask her this.
Maybe he had done some thinking at the top of that corpse pile.
“Whether indirectly or directly, it doesn’t change the fact I’m simply an over-glorified mass murderer.”
Lucille didn’t say anything in response to Cole’s statement. It was how she viewed most war heroes and knight commanders. If the people of their world were judged purely based on if you committed a ‘sin’ or not, the〈Demon Realm〉would have been full to the point of bursting.
Instead, they were sent to a respective realm after their death depending on how the world perceived them.
A hero? A hero.
A villain? A villain.
If you were neither, then that means you had regrets in your life apparently. And that meant you would be turned into a spirit or a mindless ghost.
“If I don’t have a place here after my death, then I guess I will either continue to reincarnate with my memories or stay stuck in limbo.”
“Why do you think you’ll keep your memories?”
“Because I still have them right now.”
The conversation went cold from there. Cole took the sleeping Eva from Clyde’s arms and decided that he best go home by now. There were other things he wanted to ask Lucille but maybe it was best to wait until both of them weren’t that busy.
“So, I’ll be bringing Eva back home. Ah, but before we go, may I ask one more question?”
“Sure, I don’t see why not.”
Lucille shrugged her shoulders. One more couldn’t possibly hurt.
“While I like this suit, is it possible for me to get an alternative combat uniform? And maybe a stab vest or bulletproof one. If not, I understand. I can just go and either procure one through my own means or make one–”
“Stop right there!”
Lucille cut Cole off before he had the chance to say anything more. Although the expression on her face and the way her hand was raised showed that it was more out of fear than impatience.
“That is in no way problematic so please don’t make anything.”
“…Alright. Well then, I bid farewell to you.”
Cole sent a message over to Felicia and he had quickly arrived home. Letting Lucille and Clyde figure out how they would meet his demands.

At this point in time, Libra and Zhujiao had hurriedly gone off on their adventure. Zhujiao had made a fuss about not being able to say goodbye to Cole but Libra said that Cole would have wanted it that way.
This sparked off a massive misunderstanding in Zhujiao’s head but that didn’t really matter. It got him on the road.
But that’s not the story for today, that’s the story for next time.
The story right now? Well, that would be Felicia having a staredown with a dragon that just oozed out evil and wickedness before Cole was finished with his business. Now, what could possibly make this situation worse?
The fact that neither Val, Lala, or even Braith were home.
The dragon had the same hard black scales that Val sported when he was in their dragon form but it didn’t have the same royal purple shine. Instead, it had a cold glint to it that would make one shiver at the slightest touch.
What? You’re asking about how did this happen? Does that really matter?
It happened when Felicia decided that she was bored and didn’t want to go watch any movies or clean the house since she was done already. So, she went over to the〈Fantasia Zone〉to seek company.
‘Maybe I should ask Cole to get a dog… or a bear! Wait, both could work. But a dog is probably the safer choice because I don’t want Eva to get hurt…’
“Hello? Lala? Val?”
“No answer, huh?”
“Braith?”
She called out to all of them but not even a tumbleweed passed by.
“Huh, not even the kid is here…”
Felicia scratched the back of her neck, not sure of what to do now. The sun was still high and she had a feeling that Cole and Eva wouldn’t be back so soon.
She could try to visit a neighbouring village and maybe hit a bar, but she wasn’t a drunkard and wouldn’t go drinking in broad daylight. There was also the fact that she was in a maid uniform. There was also the narcissistic part of herself thinking:
‘Ah… I’m so pretty and cute that there’s no doubt that there’ll be some punching bags– Uh, I mean dangerous and rough men looking to hit on me.’
It was when her brain had reached this train of thought, she could sense something coming her way. She looked back and could see the giant winged reptile that could be mistaken as some rich guy’s project for their weird aeroplane.
*BOOM*
The ground underneath them shook underneath their weight. Their landing caused winds to violently flare up against Felicia’s face. She had to eat a few strands of her hair because of that. Well, at least no leaves or twigs smacked her in the face miraculously.
「VALERION VON BLITZKRIEG! I have come to challenge thee! For 」
「Ho? What is a mere human doing lurking near a mighty dragon’s lair? Have you come to offer yourself up to that sad excuse of a dragon? If so, I must kindly suggest that you offer yourself to me instead! The great–」
But before the mysterious dragon could introduce his magnificent self, he was cut off by Felicia. As for how she was able to do that, not even Sir Dragon knew.
“Ah, I’m not human.”
「hA? Surely, you are jesting.」
Sir Dragon raised an eyebrow at her words, or it looked like he did. His voice swinging up an octave for just a split second. As Felicia studied the dragon’s… snout? She noticed that it looked to form the image of a sneer.
「Those fragile arms, slender body, bones that break at the slightest touch. How could you not be human?」
The dragon’s tone quickly turned into that of an annoying know-it-all. And that was one of the types that got on Felicia’s nerves the most.
Felicia could feel a vein pop somewhere in her body. She took a deep breath and started to menacingly walk over to the dragon. Not that he was intimidated by her or anything. He saw it as cute actually. A mere human dare challenging his greatness? It wasn’t often he saw something like that.
‘What a foolish human.’
「Ho? You’re approaching me? Instead of running away, you’re coming right to me?」
She paused for a bit, mildly stunned(?) at the dragon’s words and tried to stifle a bit of laughter. But no less than a second later, a bloodthirsty grin appeared on her doll-like face.
“I can’t beat the shit out of you without coming closer.”
「HA! What crude yet brave words coming from a mere mortal.」
The dragon said with a bit of laughter in his voice. But he didn’t have the time to waste on a mere monkey. He gaped open his prized jaws and proceeded to devour the ignorant maid in front of him. He had expected to hear screams of agony by now but…
“Oh, thanks.”
…It was the calm voice ushering out thanks instead.
‘…Huh?’
Sir Dragon became confused. What was this weird human thanking him for? But not a second later, he found out why.
