The Whirlwind Marriage Of A Vengeful Empress - Chapter 12
Li Qingling was shocked at her daughter’s appearance. She noticed she was about to fall. She quickly stretched her hands out to grab onto Yunqing, which resulted in both of them ending up on the floor. Li Qingling immediately called their housekeeper for help.
“Zhang!”
“Aunty Zhang!”
“Oh my goodness, Yunqing, hon, what’s wrong with you,” she cried out, frightened.
“Aunty Zhang!”
Soon enough, a middle-aged woman came rushing into the room. As soon as she entered, Li Qingling screamed, “Get Mr Ling! Tell him to get the car ready! Hurry!” She did not waste any time to ask about the problem as she saw her madam sitting on the floor while holding her young miss who was unconscious in her arms. She dashed out the door to call Mr Ling; he was the Butler of the Zhu Family Mansion.
Not long after, an elderly man walked into the room with a younger man. The elderly man was Mr Ling. It seemed Aunty Zhang had informed him of the situation as he quickly gave orders to the young man to help carry the young miss. The young man immediately lifted Yunqing up as he rushed out of the room. The young man walked in large strides as he headed out of the Zhu Family Mansion with the others following behind.
Li Qingling had panic written all over her face. This was her only child. If something untoward happens to Yunqing, how could she possibly continue living?
The driver had already gotten the car ready at the front of the house. So the young man gently placed Yunqing at the back seat. Meanwhile, Li Qingling also sat at the back seat as she helped secure her daughter in her arms. She kept on rubbing the hands of Yunqing, trying to give her almost lifeless form some warmth, hoping it could make some impact.
Luckily, the drive to the hospital did not take much time. The doctors and nurses attended to her immediately. They wheeled her to an unoccupied operating room that they rushed to prep.
Li Qingling’s whole body trembled with fear. Was she going to lose her daughter?
She paced back and forth continuously. She couldn’t be at ease until she hears that her daughter is fine.
She became even more scared as a nurse rushed out of the operating room. The nurse was so fast on her feet that she couldn’t even question her about what was happening. The nurse went back inside after retrieving two (2) bags of blood for the second time.
It was a good thing that Yunqing was not of a rare blood type and that they also had a stock of her blood type in the hospital’s blood bank. Otherwise, it would have been difficult because her mother could not donate to her since she was an immediate relative. Doctors only use blood donated by the patient’s close relatives as a last resort for fear of complications. Since a blood transfusion from a blood-related family member can increase the risk of complications.
After a short while, a bespectacled middle-aged man came striding in with his long and fast strides. “Qingling,” Zhu Yusheng called out. Li Qingling turned around and, upon hearing her name to see her husband striding towards her. The tears she has been holding in for a long time were finally let out like a dam spilling over. “Yu…Yusheng, Qingqing is…. Qingqing… she…. She is…,” she hiccupped through her speech. She was not even able to form a coherent speech.
Zhu Yusheng just hugged his wife, who was now a sobbing mess. “Qingqing is going to be alright. She’s strong. She will be fine,” Zhu Yusheng said, patting his wife’s back as she cried. He kept reassuring her that their daughter was going to be okay.
A while later, the light indication an ongoing operation in the operating room went out. The surgery was done. A tired-looking doctor in scrubs came out. Zhu Yusheng and his wife, Li Qingling, immediately approached the doctor.
“Doctor! How is she?” Zhu Yusheng and his wife asked simultaneously with worry etched on their faces. “Is my baby girl alright?” Li Qingling added with soft sobs.
“The surgery was successful. The patient is out of the first wave of the critical phase. Only when she wakes up can her life be really out of danger,” Doctor Qian Ming said, looking worn out from the surgery. Yunqing’s parents were a bit relieved when they heard the words of Doctor Qian.
Doctor Qian Ming has been on call for several hours now, so he was already annoyed, but the report he got about the patient worsened his countenance. This was the second case of a suicide attempt he had received today, and he wasn’t looking happy about it.
As Dr Qian Ming was briefing them on the successful operation, his pager beeped, indicating he had a message. So, he left the rest of Yunqing’s parents’ briefing to the ȧssistant doctor and the head nurse.
‘Hmph! If the person wants to harm themselves, then the families of such people should stop troubling us with saving their lives,’ Doctor Qian Ming snorted under his breath as he was leaving.
Though he was a doctor, he really hated it when he had to treat a suicide patient. He usually thought of them as people who treated their life as trash. To him, such people were selfish as they did not care about how their loved ones would feel. Like if they were so tired of living their lives and eager to die, why do their families still bother to force them to continue living such lives? What if the person attempted suicide again and succeeded at the next trial? Wouldn’t the effort used in saving them be wasted?
He got to his office and checked his phone for the message.
“Good! Just what I needed to let loose,” he sighed before sending a reply back.
The reply he sent was: Be there soon!
He checked the time and saw that he was supposed to get off work 10 minutes ago. So, he was free to go, and he had 30 minutes to get there.. So he quickly freshened up and then changed into a clean set of clothes before leaving to meet up with his friends.
