The Whirlwind Marriage Of A Vengeful Empress - Chapter 20
Sigh! She heaved a deep sigh before she spoke.
“Tang Chonglin and I broke up. More like I caught him cheating on me with Zhu Yanyu. And it seems they’ve been at it for a while now,” Zhu Yunqing said with a melancholic smile, after sighing deeply. ‘I can only tell her this to stop her from inquiring further,’ Zhu Yunqing thought.
“Ooh~ my daughter. You’ve suffered a lot. He was never good enough for you, anyway. How could Yanyu do such a shameless thing?” Li Qingling lamented and quickly wrapped her hands around her daughter in a warm hug. She had a wistful and sad look on her face as she comforted her daughter. She was almost on the brink of tears.
‘You are right, he is not worthy of even a strand of this empress’s hair.’ That seemed to be the empress in her talking.
“It’s fine. I am alright. I’ve learnt from my mistakes. I won’t fall for her innocent act again!” she beamed cheerfully. She was also trying to not worry Li Qingling. She did not like to dwell on sorrowful experiences anyway. Zhu Yunqing had it easy to some extent; she was just too naive to see the real faces of those around her.
“Hmm! Yes, my darling is going to be fine~,” Li Qingling said.
The room became filled with solemn silence. The pair of mother and daughter spent the rest of their time wrapped around tightly in each other’s embrace as if something would go wrong if they didn’t.
The next day, Zhu Yunqing was discharged very early that morning.
‘Ahhhhhhh! Finally!’ Zhu Yunqing sighed, standing in front of the hospital with her arms stretched out, inhaling the non-antiseptic air. The freshness of the air made her feel more relaxed. She had to admit it was quite peaceful in the hospital except for the previous day when Sun Qiuyue and her daughter came looking for trouble. Well, she had to face those scheming dogs anyway.
The drive back to the Zhu Family Mansion was a short ride. Her thing was taken into the house by the maids. Looking at the things that were being unpacked, one would think Zhu Yunqing went on a vacation. Li Qingling could be quite excessive when it came to her daughter.
As soon as the maids were done arranging her things and left, she roamed around her room. Trying to familiarize herself with the things that were unfamiliar to her yet were familiar through the memories she gained. She ran her hands through across anything she could touch as if she was trying to feel for the presence of the original Zhu Yunqing. With her flowery bed and comforter, her white dressing table and a full-length mirror on the side, the soft and woolly couch at a corner, and the small woolly ottoman found close to the bed—the room sparkled with simple vibes. Though from a wealthy family but Zhu Yunqing seemed to be an epitome of simplicity. Though each furniture that could be found in the room was expensive, they were not showy. It was obvious she did not have a gaudy personality. She was quite simple at heart.
Zhu Yunqing moved around the room like she was on an inspection, after all, this was where she was going to live now. She moved toward the closet. The closet was an array of colours. The closet had an air of extravagance, most likely as a result of Li Qingling’s excessiveness. It was filled with various items that she could never have imagined were real—beautiful dresses, shoes, bags and purses, and whatnot. She could hardly believe that some could be made even after seeing them. Her original fashion craze side seems to be poking its head out at the marvellous sight. Looking at the items, she thought, ‘I probably would not be able to wear all these things if I did not have her memories.’
A sweet and tender smile crept up on her cute and full puffy lips, making her round-shaped face more pronounced. At least she didn’t lose her green-hued eyes, but these eyes were much more fascinating than hers. The eyes were so lovely like the reviving grass after a cold and long winter. They reminded her of the greenery of her courtyard after it rains. It’s a pity they had become a bit dull.
Her hair, on the other hand, had totally changed. Her midnight black long hair, which was a beauty to behold, was now a soft smoky grey ombre coloured one. Although the length could not be compared to her previous one, this was also okay—it was almost reaching her waist. Though, it gave her a subtle, mysterious, and attractive vibe. She had the body of a stunner, a perfect hour-glass figure. She even felt that her former self, who was considered a top beauty in BeiMing State, could not even be compared to this.
After carefully inspecting her body, she sauntered towards the bed and flung her body onto it.
Ahh~ so much better,’ she sighed internally as soon as her body sunk into the softness of her bed. It was so much comfier when compared to the hospital bed. Her eyes shut as she breathed deeply. Her ċhėst heaving up and down with every breath she took.
After a few minutes, her rest was disturbed.
She could hear a distinct voice and knocks in her head.
Knock!
Knock!
“Young Miss! Young Miss!” a maid called out.
“Young Miss!”
‘Young Miss! Huh! Who is calling someone? Who is she calling? Oh, wait! That’s me!’ her eyes immediately snapped open upon realization. She quickly sat up on the bed before responding to the calls.
“Yes! What is it?” her mellifluous voice sounded out.
Hearing the response, the maid replied, “Young Miss, Miss Wei is here to see you. She’s waiting in the living room for you.”
‘Miss Wei?! Who is…? Ah! Right!’ suddenly realising who that was. She sighed heavily before replying to the maid, “Let her come up.” She was too tired and lazy to go down the flight of stairs after just coming up. She ran her hands through her hair, trying to fix the messy strands. Her hair had become messy when she flung her body onto the bed.
“Okay, Young Miss.”
