The Whirlwind Marriage Of A Vengeful Empress - Chapter 21
After a while, the clacking sound of heels against the cold floor could be heard as it drew nearer. The door swung open in one push. And a dainty figure dressed in a plaid turquoise short gown strolled in.
“Humph! It’s good you are not dead yet,” Wei Chujiu said haughtily as soon as she saw Zhu Yunqing.
Wei Chujiu was once very good friends with Zhu Yunqing, but their friendship was strained due to the crafted web of lies Zhu Yanyu told her. Wei Chujiu had Caught Tang Chonglin and Zhu Yanyu having an affair. When she tried to tell Zhu Yunqing about it, they twisted the plot and made it seem like she tried to seduce Tang Chonglin. So before she could tell Zhu Yunqing the truth, they had already made Zhu Yunqing believe the twisted lies they made up. So when Wei Chujiu tried to approach Zhu Yunqing with the truth, she flared up at her. Zhu Yunqing humiliated her and accused her of tainting her cousin’s name as well as trying to steal her boyfriend. That had stopped them from being friends, but it obviously didn’t stop Wei Chujiu from still caring about Zhu Yunqing.
“I’m happy you are okay too!” Zhu Yunqing replied with a soft smile.
‘True friends really will never leave you, huh!’
‘I should at least fix the only good friendship I have right now,’ she sighed. For her to still come and check up on her means she still cared about their friendship. The other friend of Zhu Yunqing was merely a minion Zhu Yanyu had placed close to her.
“Humph! I’ve seen what I wanted. You seem fine. Don’t forget, you still have to go to school!” Wei Chujiu said before she turned to leave.
Rising to her feet, Zhu Yunqing blurted out, “I am sorry!” Her face held a tense look.
Her words seem to halt Wei Chujiu’s steps.
“And I should accept your apology, why?” Wei Chujiu retorted angrily. She glowered at the door as if that was who she was angry at.
Zhu Yunqing felt a jab of pain when she heard Wei Chujiu’s words. She could feel the regret and sadness of the original Zhu Yunqing.
“Humph! This empress is apologizing, and you are being arrogant. Well, whatever, I have to fix this anyway.’
Then with a rueful expression, Zhu Yunqing said, “I know there is no reason for you to forgive me. And I will not force you either. I am only asking you to just hear me out. I have my own grievances too, but I had to pay dearly for it.” Her expression turning bitter at the end, her mind had wandered off to her past life.
An inaudible sigh left her tight lips before she continued, “But even if you won’t listen, I still have to say this to you. I am sorry. I can say it a couple more times if you want.”
“I am sorry, I shouldn’t have doubted you and broken our friendship. After all, we have been friends for so many years now. I am sorry, I should have believed you when you said you didn’t betray me.”
When she was done saying her piece, she tried to gauge Wei Chujiu’s reaction but couldn’t as Wei Chujiu had her back to her.
“Humph! I wouldn’t have fallen for the lure of such scum. I have high specks, you know!” Wei Chujiu grumbled out after a brief awkward moment of silence. She felt wronged that her best friend had accused her of trying to seduce that scum. He was quite an ȧsshole. She could not even fathom what Zhu Yunqing saw in him.
“Hmm! I know!” Zhu Yunqing admitted.
“And you shouldn’t have trusted their words so easily.”
“I know!”
“You should have trusted me.”
“I know!”
“You were too naïve.”
“Alright! Alright, I am! But I won’t be anymore!” Zhu Yunqing said, accepting everything she threw at her. The original Zhu Yunqing was really at fault, and since she was now her, that meant she was the one at fault. So she just agreed to whatever Wei Chujiu said.
“Y… you….,” Wei Chujiu obviously had nothing else to say anymore. Her tears were already gathering by the side of her eyes in wait to flow down. Her shoulder’s trembled a bit. She had missed her best friend all this while, and she was really not happy with the strain in their friendship.
“Can I have my friend back now?”
“Humph! You want only your friend back!” Wei Chujiu said through puffed her cheeks as if she was still angry. She finally turned around to face Zhu Yunqing.
For some reason, she felt that Wei Chujiu was no longer angry with her. So, she smiled before saying, “Can I have my best friend back now?”
“Wuuh! I am not perfect, okay, but I’ll never betray you. You should always remember that! Why did you take so long?” Wei Chujiu snivelled as she hugged Zhu Yunqing. She finally let go of her tears, and it came pouring down like a dam that had just been released.
“I missed you~~” She cried out, embracing Zhu Yunqing even more tightly.
“Me too!” Zhu Yunqing’s smile widened. She now had another supporter against Zhu Yanyu. She knew she could not solely rely on her family. So it was a good thing that she fixed her relationship with Wei Chujiu.
The pair of friends had finally reunited. Their friendship bond was like a never-ending flowing river with flowers that bloomed all year round blooming along the river bank.
“I heard you’ve been at the hospital.. What happened? Did those scums do anything to you?” she asked with furrowed brows.
