The Whirlwind Marriage Of A Vengeful Empress - Chapter 30
Zhu Yunqing raised her hand and flipped the few hair strands that were framing her face back.
“H-hi….. Did Wei Chujiu ask you to meet me here?” she finally opened her mouth to speak.
On hearing her words, Shen Zihao couldn’t help but think, ‘Is this another way of flirting with me?’ He thought that this was a new strategy girls used to trap the rich now.
Yet, even though Shen Zihao thought like that, he still could not fathom why he waited patiently for her to speak or why he actually wished that she wasn’t like those girls who chased after the rich for money.
Not receiving an immediate response, Zhu Yunqing opened her mouth to speak again but swallowed her words back as this time, she was harshly cut off.
“You are in the wrong room!” Shen Zihao’s deep voice boomed as he spoke. His voice didn’t seem to have any hint of his usual harshness in it. He was finally able to rein in his control and stop being in a daze to speak. This was the first time his self-restraint was being tested so much that he wanted to really break it.
“What?!” Zhu Yunqing asked, a bit surprised at the deep voice that just spoke out.
After a brief moment pondering on his words, she realized the meaning behind them.
Upon realization, her eyes widen in shock. She froze for a short while before blinking her eyes. Then, a small tinge of blush crept on her cheeks due to her embarrassment, making her round face look like an almost ripened tomato. The awkward brief silence that followed also made her feel even worse.
She lowered her gaze downwards as she looked at the number card properly. As she looked downwards, she noticed her phone light dim before the screen became black.
She had silenced her phone earlier because she didn’t want to receive the call from a certain someone, but it seemed if she had not done that, it would have saved her from this awkward mess. So, she quickly turned the phone back on, only to see several (12) missed calls from Wei Chujiu, five from her mother, two from the number she had sent a text to earlier, and a few messages from Wei Chujiu asking about her whereabouts.
Then, she raised the room number card that was given to her by the worker earlier and turned it upside down. Only then did she figure out that the number could have been a six and not a nine.
‘Urgh!’ she felt so embarrassed that she literally wanted to find a hole to sink herself into. She closed her eyes for a split second before opening them as the blush on her cheeks darkened. Her eyes darted around the room though she did not dare glance towards where Shen Zihao was seated.
The changes in her expression did not escape the keen eyes of Shen Zihao. Shen Zihao just stared at her in blank amazement before letting out an inaudible chuckle. How can someone’s face form so many expressions within such a short period of time?
She awkwardly stood up from where she sat, clenching the things (her clutch, phone, and the room number card) in her hands tightly.
“I… I am s… sorry. I-I entered the wrong room!” she quickly stuttered an apology with a ninety-degree bow before scurrying off out of the room like she was being chased.
Shen Zihao chuckled at her fleeing back, and the smile remained on his face for some time.
A few minutes later, Fu Yanlin and Qian Ming entered the room with Feng Mingli and Lin Yan tagging along.
“We really need to mark this day, after all, this is the first time that third brother has come before any of us!” Fu Yanlin commented as soon as he came in.
Hearing the words of Fu Yanlin, Shen Zihao’s mind could not help but wander back to what happened a few minutes ago. He couldn’t help but want to come early every day if that could repeat itself. He thought that Zhu Yunqing looked like a little rabbit who was scared of the big bad wolf with how she fled from the room. This caused an amused smile to appear on his thin lips.
Shen Zihao’s smiling face caused Feng Mingli, who was about to sit down close to him, to jolt back to an upright position.
The others were a bit surprised by Feng Mingli’s action, but Qian Ming was the first to question him.
“What’s wrong?” Qian Ming asked.
“I-it’s amazing, Third Brother is s…smiling,” Feng Mingli stuttered his answer.
His response caused everyone else to have an indescribable look on their faces except Shen Zihao, who sent him a stony glare while Lin Yan shook his head internally before smacking Feng Mingli at the back of his head.
“Ouch!” Feng Mingli cried out in an aggrieved tone. Lin Yan seemed to be really obsessed with smacking him.
Well, Feng Mingli’s reaction was normal though a bit overdramatic as usual, but it was definitely a great feat to see a smile bloom on the face of the ever so indifferent and overbearing young Master Shen.
Fu Yanlin suddenly remembered something and said, trying to change the subject of discussion, “Ah! Brother Zihao must have sent away that beauty we saw earlier. He broke the heart of yet another pretty flower again.”
That doesn’t explain why he is smiling! Besides, how could you even tell that she was a beauty? You didn’t see her face!” Qian Ming commented, giving a sharp look at Fu Yanlin. Although the figure looked familiar, he couldn’t pinpoint where he had seen that person as he didn’t see her face.
“Well, if you know much about women. You would know that with that figure alone, she could be recognized as a beauty,” Fu Yanlin retorted.
“Ah! What would a player like you know about women? One day you will end up dating a horse-faced girl,” Qian Ming asked.
Fu Yanlin just raised his hand and used his index and middle finger to gesture a salute with a cheeky smile on his face as he said in a casual tone, “Hey! No discrimination. By the way, thanks for the compliment. But at least I don’t date unconscious patients.”
“I don’t date my patients!” Qian Ming uttered angrily.
“Yeah! Yeah, whatever,” Fu Yanlin couldn’t care less about Qian Ming’s response.
Literally, anything could bring up the childish banter between these two. Even an abstract matter that didn’t seem to concern either one of them could easily become a topic of themselves.
Lin Yan and Feng Mingli just sighed heavily as they watched the two bicker once again.. Meanwhile, Shen Zihao just completely ignored them as his mind once again drifted back to the fleeing scared little rabbit who left the room earlier.
