The Wife of Hades - Chapter 122
‘Superstar Idol Yu Xiao is a Playboy?’
Then, there were several pictures included of him walking into hotels with several different women, and also them entering a room. The pictures showed his face, and although they were a little blurry, it was easy to tell that it was him.
Just with the pictures, there was still a chance for him to redeem himself. But, there was finally a video at the end. When he played it, his face immediately turned red as he turned down the sound.
It was a video of him doing an exercise that is not to be named with another woman, and his face was clear in the video, although all other areas were blurred out.
He gulped as he slowly closed the phone, looking around the room, which was gravely silent.
“I. . .”
“That’s you, right?” This time, it was the manager who asked.
Yu Xiao did not know what to say. It was obviously him, but he didn’t want to admit it! His fans all thought of him as a pure boy, and that was also the image the company had built for him. However, lying to his agent now was not a good idea, because the main problem was the fans and not his agent.
“Yes.”
His assistant gasped in surprise, and Miao Mu immediately covered his mouth with his hands to hide his shock. Yang Xin and the other people inside the room were relatively calm, as they had guessed this already.
Many idols, after getting famous, let their inner true self come out, thinking that they now have the money and power to do whatever they want. This seemed to include Yu Xiao. . .
Yang Xin did not hide her disappointment, as she had hoped that Yu Xiao would be a good person. The people who started to indulge in bad or immoral pleasures after becoming famous did not turn bad. They were bad people all along.
Money and fame did not make someone bad. If you were innately good, then no matter with how much money or fame, no temptation could win over you. However, there was a devil inside everyone.
Some people, like Yu Xiao, just could not turn it away.
The director, who was sitting at the center of the room, sighed and said, “Well, now we have to figure out a way to fix this, right? The fans can’t know this.”
The company had spent a lot of effort and money on Yu Xiao, so there was no way they would give up on him so easily. Now, they just had to come up with a solution.
However, the society and even the fans did not seem to care anymore. Many of them had no tolerance for r*pe, and the fake image of Yu Xiao being a pure and innocent man only made fans more angry.
Just as they began coming up with a response on social media, Yang Xin received a call. It was the producer of ‘The Underworld King’s Beloved Wife’.
“Hello, Producer Qu,” Yang Xin said with a smile, trying to sound pleasant but it wasn’t working.
“Ms. Yang, I am certain you knew what had happened. . .” Although the producer had not directly said anything yet, Yang Xin was more than familiar with that tone and what he was hinting at.
“I know, but trust us. We will solve the issue right away.”
The producer sighed, “We know, but that isn’t the problem now. In the contract, it specifically stated that there can’t be any negative news about Yu Xiao that comes out during filming. And this isn’t small news. . .”
There was an awkward silence before the producer said, “Filming had just begun, and it would really affect the progress of filming because of Yu Xiao. Here, how about this? We will find another actor but we won’t ask for any compensation for breach of contract from Yu Xiao.”
Hearing no response, the producer added, “This is already very generous of us to not ask for any compensation, since we will still have to go find another actor and film all of those scenes over again.”
Of course Yang Xin understood this, and she said, “Okay, thank you very much Producer Qu. I’m so sorry for -”
Producer Qu cut her off, “Just focus on fixing the issue now.”
Then, he hung up.
Right after the call, the social media account for the drama crew released the announcement that they would be changing a male lead and the reaction to it was relatively positive, as everyone was angry at Yu Xiao right now.
“Sister Yang, how could you do that?!” Yu Xiao stood up in anger, “The -”
“What can I do?! Look at the trouble you caused for the company! I -”
Just then, she received another call. This time, it was from the perfume company Yu Xiao was advertising for.
One by one, calls came from all different companies as all of them requested to cancel the contract with Yu Xiao. In the end, Yu Xiao was left with no sponsorships or projects and a whole lot of debt.
Yang Xin had left the room to settle the calls, so they were left with the director and manager inside the meeting room.
“Hurry up and post on your social media, saying that it wasn’t you, and that this is all fake information.” The director thought for a second, “Say that the person in the image just looks like you, and that it actually isn’t you.”
Yu Xiao did as he said and after the post had been uploaded, no one believed it. The people weren’t stupid. It was obvious that the person inside the picture was him.
After several hours of meeting, they were left with no other choice than to apologize.
“Yu Xiao: Hello everyone. I am sincerely sorry for all of the trouble I have caused due to my actions. I apologize to my fans and everyone that supported me. I truly understand the harm I have caused, and I promise to never commit the same mistake again.
I will also be taking a break from the entertainment industry. Sorry and I will see all of you soon.”
The break was true, but the final line wasn’t. After admitting it, there was no way he would return to the industry ever again. All he could do was hide and try to avoid getting eggs thrown at him whenever he walked outside.
The comments underneath were also very violent, especially coming from his disappointed fans, although there were still a few dumb fans who “believed” that Yu Xiao was a good person.
—
As she ate dinner, An Luxia scrolled through the comment section and the post, forgetting to eat from surprise.
Mo Han looked up and glanced at her phone, realizing what she was looking at. He licked his lips and didn’t say anything as he continued to eat. After a while, he reached over and grabbed her phone, closing it as he placed it on his side of the table, away from her.
“Eat.”
An Luxia frowned as she started to eat, still in shock, “I can’t believe it! I didn’t think he was that sort of person.”
Mo Han raised on eyebrow, “Then what sort of person did you think he was?”
An Luxia tilted her head slightly, shrugging, “I’m not sure, but I did have a bad feeling about him.”
She nodded, smiling proudly, “My eye for people is quite good, right?!”
Mo Han chuckled softly and didn’t say anything as they continued to eat dinner.
—
The new actor that was picked was another male actor who was not as famous as Yu Xiao but also had a strong fan base.
He fit the character very well, as his personality was quite cold, just like Mo Han. And, many fans of the novel had pointed out how he fit the character very well, so the novel fans were all very happy to let him star in the film.
—
An Luxia did not go to the filming set today because she had to go to school and take a test. As she was walking to class, she met Shen Liya, and she ran over, tapping her on the shoulder.
“Liya!”
Shen Liya turned around in surprise, “Luxia! Where were you?! I haven’t seen you in school for so long.”
They walked to class together and An Luxia explained the situation to Shen Liya, who was very excited about it.
“I didn’t know you wrote novels!”
An Luxia smiled, “Yeah, it’s just a small hobby.”
After taking the test, Shen Liya suggested going to get coffee together to celebrate, and with no other thing to do, An Luxia agreed.
In the coffee shop, Shen Liya brought over the two smoothies they had ordered, as both of them did not drink coffee.
They sat down, and the atmosphere turned silent. After a while, An Luxia asked, “Liya, is your family in a different country?”
Shen Liya’s expression stiffened slightly before she looked up with a faint smile, “I’m actually an orphan.”
