The Wife of Hades - Chapter 127
An Luxia left the house after eating lunch with Mo Han to go work at her parent’s cake shop again. In the summer, the shop often had very good business, so they needed more help.
She arrived at the shop and Mo Han watched her enter before returning back home. Back to doing nothing and being angry at his workers for the next few hours.
He entered the house, where K was already waiting for him to do work. He entered his office and sat down in the large chair, turning back and forth as he began flipping the pen around through his fingers as K reported some information about all the different groups of the HLX around the globe.
“The people in Country A still haven’t found the group leader. . . They haven’t been able to track where the base of the group even is.”
Mo Han raised one eyebrow, narrowing his eyes, “Do I have to go over myself?”
K thought about it for a second, as a million thoughts ran across his mind. If he said yes, then his boss would certainly get mad at him for tearing him apart from his wife. But if he said no, then his boss would wonder why the people in the HLX still haven’t been able to track the group yet.
So what should he say?
“Maybe. . .” K finally replied softly.
Upon hearing this, Mo Han frowned and threw the pen onto the table, “Maybe? What’s maybe? What is even the point of having you?”
K immediately looked down at the ground, silently sighing at his picky boss and also at his dumb brain. He should have just not said anything!
“You can go,” Mo Han said.
“But there is still some information I haven’t reported yet. . .” K looked up, only to receive a glare from his boss, so he immediately left the room and closed the door behind him.
Mo Han opened his computer after K had left and clicked on a black application on the desktop of his screen. The screen turned black and after a while, a few green letters popped up.
He entered in passcode after passcode, and then several fingerprints before the application finally read, “Success! Application opened.”
Then, Mo Han clicked on Country A, and tons of random green numbers popped up on the screen. Mo Han pressed on the keys furiously, and after several minutes, another red word appeared on the screan.
“Error. No information found.”
Mo Han knit his eyebrows together and angrily slammed his fist onto the keyboard, causing another error message to appear.
This was the first group that he could not track any information of. . . Who was the leader behind it? The group he was looking for was probably behind a ton of illegal dealings and attacks, but few people even knew of it’s existence.
Why couldn’t the HLX find it?
Just as he was about to try again, there was suddenly a knock at his office door.
—
An Luxia entered the kitchen to find Yu Xinyi also in her parent’s bakery.
She raised one eyebrow, “What is Ms. Yu doing here?”
Yu Xinyi grinned and ran over, “An Luxia, you’re finally here! I have to tell you something!”
An Luxia was forcefully dragged out of the back kitchen and to one of the tables, seated down to talk to Yu Xinyi.
Without wasting any time, Yu Xinyi immediately began her complicated love story, “So I went to go find An Yuchen at the hospital, and you know how I have been practicing baking recently?”
An Luxia did not even nod her head and Yu Xinyi continued, “So I brought him the cookies I baked and guess what. . . He told me they tasted delicious!”
An Luxia smiled a little awkwardly, not wanting to tell Yu Xinyi that her brother was the type of person to tell anyone their cookies tasted good even if they weren’t actually good.
“And then we went and ate lunch together, and he gave me his pork belly! Pork belly! And then I gave him some of his back and then we ate lunch together! And then. . . I left,” she said, slouching down against the chair.
An Luxia sighed and leaned forward closer to Yu Xinyi, “So when are you ever going to confess? I’m telling you, my brother has a ton of pursuers, in the hospital and out! If you don’t hurry up and confess, then you won’t have an opportunity anymore.”
Yu Xinyi frowned, pursing her lips out unhappily, “What are we friends for? I need you to keep those evil vixens away from my brother Yuchen!”
An Luxia sighed, “I know, I know. But I can’t do it forever. . . I want to have a sister-in-law too, okay?”
Yu Xinyi smiled, blinking her eyes dramatically, “How do I look?”
An Luxia rolled her eyes, smiling as she folded her arms together, “Ch!”
Yu Xinyi frowned again as she slouched down against the chair once again, “Ah, what am I going to do? How am I going to confess? An Luxia, you have to help me!”
“I know!! How about. . .” An Luxia thought for a second and her eyes lit up as she snapped her fingers together, leaning towards Yu Xinyi excitedly, “I have an idea! So, it is time for you to confess! We can do it. . . here!”
An Luxia said, lifting her arms up, “In this coffee shop! We will have the lights all closed and empty out the shop. Then, I’ll find a way to get my brother here. You will stand in the middle of the room in a pretty, flowing white dress.”
As she spoke, An Luxia closed her eyes as her dream began once again, “And, my brother will walk in, and the lights will suddenly turn on! He will walk over to you and you will ask him if he wants to be your boyfriend! And then. . . he will say yes! And oh, I will have a sister-in-law!”
Yu Xinyi watched An Luxia and gulped, not sure how to respond, “Okay?”
She wasn’t so sure if that was a great plan because she did not want to take the initiative and confess, but it seemed like she had no other choice but to go with that plan.
However, the next second, just as An Luxia was going to continue on with her plan, she received a phone call. She pulled her phone out and blinked a few times when she saw the name on the screen.
Then, she waved her phone at Yu Xinyi excitedly, who also widened her eyes when she saw the name.
“An Yuchen?! How does he know we are talking about him?!”
An Luxia put a finger up to her mouth, signaling for her to be quiet as she took the call and put it on speaker mode, “Brother, what is it?”
An Yuchen seemed to be driving as there was the sound of cars honking all around him, “Xiaxia, where are you?”
“I’m at mom and dad’s shop. Why? Are you coming?” An Luxia said excitedly, raising one eyebrow at Yu Xinyi, who felt her heartbeat also speed up.
“Yes, I’ll come over,” An Yuchen responded, which made Yu Xinyi shriek softly as An Luxia quickly put a finger over her mouth.
However, An Yuchen’s next words crushed all of Yu Xinyi and An Luxia’s thoughts into tiny little pieces, as they shattered down onto the cold ground.
“I am with my girlfriend right now. I’ll bring her over and introduce her to you, mom, and dad.” An Yuchen spoke, unable to hide the hint of excitement in his voice.
An Luxia and Yu Xinyi’s face fell right away and An Luxia was also very surprised to hear about this news, no less than Yu Xinyi. After all, she had not really thought of her brother having any other girlfriend except her best friend.
“What? Girlfriend. . .” An Luxia muttered softly.
“Yes, she was my college classmate. We will be there in about ten minutes.”
Seeing Yu Xinyi’s depressed expression, An Luxia also knit her eyebrows tightly together as a rush of anger overflowed her from nowhere. She lifted the phone closely up to her mouth, screaming into it so loud that the other customers nearby looked towards her.
“You don’t have to come anymore! I’m leaving!”
Then, she hung up the phone, slamming it onto the table.
—
Just as he was about to try again, there was suddenly a knock at his office door.
Mo Han looked up a little annoyedly and said, “Come in.”
K entered the door and looked down, his hands folded together, “Mr. Mo, there is a man at the door that wants to see you.”
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know. . . I have never seen him before. However. . .” K’s voice died down.
“What?”
“The man. . . kind of looks like you, Mr. Mo.”
Mo Han looked up from his screen, frowning as he stood up and walked out of the office, marching over to the front door.
Indeed, there was an old man that appeared to be around his 50s standing at the door in a black shirt and black pants.
When he saw Mo Han, a crooked smile appeared on his face as he stepped forward.
“Who are you?” Mo Han immediately asked when he saw the man, not in the mood for any nonsense.
The man was not taken aback by his words, but instead, his smile widened even more as he slowly replied, “I am your dad.”
