The Wolf Of Aragnar - Chapter 14
Snap!
‘Fuck!’ Ivan cursed upon feeling weightlessness.
Another shallow branch snapped, causing Ivan and Naina to fall down from the height of a third floor or fourth-floor building.
“Aouu!(Save the Hooman’s)” Fenrir once again moved to save Ivan and Naina as they came falling down.
Being a good man he was, Ivan turned his body to come below Naina and save her from the hard hit.
Ivan fell on the broad back of the Grey wolf, which cushioned their fall, but then their body bounced a little to the side, causing Naina to come under Ivan as they fell on the ground.
Thud!
“Umph!”
Naina: “!!”
Ivan: “!!”
Whether you call it a weird coincidence, faith, or something else, the pair seemed to be finding themselves get such in situations that always cause mortification to one and eternal bliss to another.
For example, currently, Naina was lying on the ground while Ivan was on top of her since they turned over after bumping on to Fenrir’s back. This situation would not have been a matter of great concern, and anyone would have laughed it off if it was just that.
A scene that seemed to have been carved straight out of fairytales. A prince charming kissing a sleeping beauty to wake her from her eternal sleep. But to Ivan and Naina, that was not the case.
Their lips were indeed touching, no, they were squashing each other, but Ivan wasn’t the prince charming, nor was Naina a sleeping beauty. They were in this situation for one and sole reason, an accident.
Naina’s mind froze when she saw the first kiss that she had dreamed about since the time of her awakening to love, being taken away by a young man who wasn’t a prince charming of her dreams, even if he had saved her so many times. She only felt grateful; that’s it. She did not fall head over heels for Ivan. It would have been fine if they developed something called love and affection between them first, Naina wouldn’t have minded giving Ivan her first of everything. Why did it have to arranged in this kind of situation?
She unwittingly raised her legs and smashed it against something that every man treasure more than anything in their life, the family jewels.
Ivan: “!”
With scream suppressed in his mouth at the time of impact, Ivan rolled to the side, holding on to jewels for their dear life.
A current ran through Ivan’s spine as he felt immense pain in his stomach or, more specifically, he felt pangs of pain in his kidneys still occurring even after the impact.
Naina sat up straight, looking awkwardly, and in guilt at Ivan rolling on the ground in pain. She had come to her senses by now.
“I… I’m sorry!”
“Don’t… mind. I will feel better… in some time.” Ivan cried in his mind but acted like he was hurt on a little on the surface.
Ivan stood up and started jumping in one place.
“What are you doing?” Naina asked when she saw his antics. Her embarrassment had gone poof upon seeing Ivan in so much pain.
“Something that will take my mind of the pain and help me feel better quickly,” Ivan replied. It was the age-old wisdom of Saints for remedying the pain that every man feels more than ones in their lifetime, getting hit between the legs. Though not many people agree on it, most men will do it for the sake of relieving pain.
“Oh!” Naina nodded but did not understand how that helped.
Suddenly she felt someone breathe near her neck behind her.
She felt a foreboding as if she knew who was behind her, like a mechanical cloak. Naina turned her head around until she saw from the corner of her eyes that the grey wolf was sniffing her as if deciding whether to eat her or not tomorrow dinner.
“Fenrir, come to me, boy. See, I got a loaf of bread for you.” Ivan immediately said while ignoring his pain and took out the bread from his inventory to attract the wolf’s attention. The wolf was loyal to him, so Fenrir won’t attack Ivan until he does the beast any harm. Fenrir saw that Naina attacked him; therefore, he might mistake her as an enemy. He might attack her if not stopped in time.
Fortunately, Fenrir was just smelling her, maybe in order to remember her, but did not do anything aggressive. Once Ivan showed him the bread, Fenrir ignored Naina and eagerly ran to Ivan before eating another piece of that tasty food.
“Miss Naina, we need to get going. Forest is very dangerous during the night. Therefore, I think we should travel upon Fenrir’s back to the nearest village.” Ivan purposely did not talk anything about what had transpired before between them. He suggested traveling by riding Fenrir’s broad back since that would be faster and also safer.
“Fenrir, do you know where there is a village here… Where lots of hooman’s live…like us?” Ivan tried asking the grey wolf slowly and doing actions so that he could be understood even with the language barrier between them.
“Aouu~” Fenrir seemed to be an intelligent creature, he may not have understood the hooman’s speech, but the general meaning he can understand just by the right actions.
Seeing that the wolf had understood him, and had even sat down without being asked so that they could ride Fenriro travel to their destination faster.
Ivan was delighted.
“Miss Naina lets go… Come on; he seriously won’t bite.” Ivan didn’t have the time to persuade her, so he walked up to her and forcefully picked her before placing her tush
“Ahh! Wait! Put me down..!” Ivan ignored her protest and made her sit on the wolf climbing to sit behind Naina. Anyway, Fenrir would not harm her or him because of the sixty-nine percent in loyalty.
<< Loyalty – A stat to check the loyalty of another person, beast, or different races towards the Host.>>
Fenrir was not annoyed or angered when the hooman’s sat on his back.
“Aouu!” Fenrir was not a magic beast, but he did not have any problem running with two extra weights.
“Kya,” Naina closed her eyes in fear since the wolf was moving too fast even while dodging trees and bushes in the forest. With his hand around Naina so that she doesn’t fall, Ivan was tightly gripping Fenrir’s fur and skin on the shoulders.
Fenrir knew his way around the forest, so he never stopped even once.
