The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 12

As the fox walked towards the jerky, Yuhao began noticing more details about it. It had brown eyes, large pointed ears and a triangular dark brown nose. It had one curved, singular tail, that had its tip coloured a deep purple, with a few, small tufts of black fur. The fox’s presence was very subdued, and if it wasn’t for the beast being clearly visible to him, he would have struggled to know it was there.

Seeing the fox finish the jerky, he took out another, this time holding it in his hand. Upon sensing the food, the fox crept closer, almost into Yuhao’s lap and began nibbling on the treat.

“What species is it Amra?” Yuhao questioned internally.

Amra replied, “It is an Illusion Fox, aged somewhere between 5000 and 6000 years. As you can see, it has five tufts of black hair on the purple tip of its tail, signifying that it has reached this cultivation age.”

“But why was it following me? Did you not say that spirit beasts would be more aggressive? However, I can guess that the rhino that attacked me was just an illusion made by it.” He inquired.

“It was probably following you as foxes are naturally playful and mischievous creatures and obviously it isn’t aggressive as it is a female. Male Illusion Foxes are much taller with bulkier builds. I think you should keep moving though. You don’t want to end up searching for the Ice Worm during the night.”

Yuhao quickly looked up, noticing that he had been sitting here for over an hour now, before packing up his things. He tried to shoo the fox away from him and back into the safety of the trees, but she just sat there looking at him.

Before he got frustrated, Amra stated, “You fed her food, so she probably has a favourable impression of you. Illusion Foxes are quite hard to find and fight due to their illusions, so most spirit beasts don’t even bother trying to hunt them. If you do encounter an aggressive beast, you are definitely more likely to die than she is, so don’t worry about her.”

Yuhao shrugged his shoulders before once again releasing performing his mental energy technique to allow Daydream to find him. Only an hour later, with the fox still following him, he all of a sudden heard a voice echo out inside of his mind.

“Finally, I’ve met a mental-attribute human! What a pity that this sister can’t cry! If I could, my face would definitely be covered with tears!”

Yuhao smirked as this is the exact proclamation Daydream made when meeting the original Yuhao. However all of a sudden he realised one thing that was amiss, ‘Did Daydream just say sister?! Why did Daydream just say ‘sister’? While this is great news due to the aura Amra causes me to release, there is no reason as to why this would hap-…..wait a minute. MORRIGAN! This must be that ‘small’ change that she stated she made with my leftover karma. Oh, thank you so much, you lovely goddess!’

Yuhao was overjoyed in his thankfulness towards Morrigan as she saved him from an extreme repercussion from his bloodline. Immediately after, the ground beneath him suddenly cracked apart, releasing a dim golden-white light from its depths. To Yuhao, if he didn’t know what was underground, he definitely would have been worried about his safety.

As a slightly chubby head and the body of the worm appeared from the earth, an icy chill spread out across the surroundings. Yuhao began to see his own breath due to the temperature change however his bloodline stopped him feeling any other effects from the cold.

The worm’s body was the same colour as white-jade and sparkled in the light. Although it had just emerged from underground, there was no dirt or grime on its skin. The worm had ten golden patterns and halos spread out across its large body, all at least three metres in length.

Yuhao looked up into the worm’s eyes as it began talking, extremely excited for what is to come.

“Don’t be scared, don’t be scared. This sister won’t harm you.” The worm says, speaking directly into his mind once again. It moved its huge head down to eye length with Yuhao as it scanned him, close enough that he could smell the faint fragrant odour it emitted.

“You are the one that is talking to me right?” Yuhao asked it, pretending to be unaware.

The enormous ice worm nodded its head in response before replying, “First off, let me introduce myself. I am the cutest and most almighty spirit beast! I am a queen amongst soul beasts, who is both equally smart and good-looking! I’m an absolute expert who has cultivated for over one million years. I am the Daydream Iceworm who has set the record for the longest lifespan in the Douluo Continent!”

Unsure how to respond, Yuhao replied, “Hello sister Daydream, my name is Huo Yuhao. What do you want me for?”

Sister Daydream’s voice became serious, “This sister wants to become your soul ring the Douluo Continent’s first-ever intelligent soul ring in a matter of fact”

“Very Well” Yuhao replied immediately.

The Daydream Iceworm replied very quickly, as if her speech was prepared, “Don’t worry it wo- You said yes? Great. I will start now. Don’t worry I will be gentle and not cause you any pain!”

The ten golden patterns on the Daydream Iceworm’s body moved rhythmically, as they began to envelop Yuhao’s body. The spirit beast placed her head on Yuhao’s before dissolving into halos of white light and surging both his spiritual sea and sea of consciousness simultaneously.

Inside Yuhao’s mindscape, you could see a completely bewildered brilliant white worm as it looked between the Three-Eyed Golden Lion Emperor’s real body, the lion’s conscious and the vast sea of pure and dense energy.

“Wow! Your body and soul are extremely strong for someone of your rank and age. How wonderful! I only have to seal myself in 8 seals for you to withhold my whole power,” yelled Daydream in excitement. As the final seal fell in place, Yuhao’s spirit eyes materialised internally with a white-gold spirit ring appearing below him, on his mental sea. As he did so, the abilities provided by his first spirit ring under this spirit essence became known and like the original Yuhao, he received the legendary spiritual detection, spiritual sharing, spiritual shock and spiritual interference skills.

As this change was happening inside Yuhao’s body, the outside sky suddenly darkened. An enormous pressure that caused one to breathe and exert force descended from the sky followed by a grey stream of air that rapidly approached and entered into Yuhao’s head.

Seeing these events Daydream shrieked, “Who da-, “only to be silenced by Amra.

“Let it be little worm. He means no harm and we were already aware of his arrival.”

Daydream went silent, as she watched the grey orb of energy entered into the depths of Yuhao’s mindscape sea before freezing in place.

Yuhao, who was also present for this event watched on excited as all the important events in his plan were falling into place successfully. In the background, he could hear Daydream muttering about getting revenge on those beasts that wronged her.

Amra decided to lead off with the formal introduction of himself, “Welcome to the group Daydream. My name is Amra.”

Daydream quickly replied back, “As I said before, I am the beautiful Daydream.”

Amra nodded in return, “So from what I can sense, you have condensed your power into eight seals, just like I have for my bloodline, but not only will those allow Yuhao’s power get stronger as you release them, but also allow for Yuhao to upgrade the years of his spirit rings up to one-hundred thousand years? Up to ten times? That is extremely impressive. But what is that blue orb you have condensed? It looks like a spirit essence, but it is not the same as Yuhao’s other ones.”

Daydream hearing this nodded her head rapidly as he spoke, “Yes! As you somewhat guessed, I have given him another spirit essence. An ultimate ice spirit essence to be exact. It is from some of the several hundred-thousand-year-old Ancient Ice Essence I ate. Well, it is formless at the moment, as it needs a spirit beast to create its form.”

Amra, even at his age was shocked at the worm’s ingenuity to use some of her own ice-attributed essence to create a spirit essence. After a moment of thinking, Amra spoke up, “I don’t see any reason as to why we would need to wait for a spirit beast to create the form. While that may be the better option if you were aiming for a beast class spirit, you, Yuhao already have a beast spirit. If you have two essences, unless you managed to find a way to perform a self-fusion, a tool spirit would allow you to release both at the same time. What do you say Yuhao?”

Yuhao took a moment to think, “I think a tool spirit would be better. It would give me more versatility, not to mention an instant weapon if I ever need one. What would its form be, though?”
