The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 14
Notice:
The Fire Ice Hammer-Scythe will now be called FrostFire. The name did seem clunky and jarring initially, and thanks to some of your comments which mentioned options for it, I found myself liking this one. Let me know what you think of it. Thanks for the idea Raze_!

The following morning, Yuhao had once again set out on his journey. Currently, within his mindscape, the two more mature conscious spirit beasts were vehemently discussing the best next course of action for their host. Amra was adamant that Yuhao should look to increase the number of spirit rings on his Steel Space Dragon spirit to match his spirit eyes as it was the spirit essence that they would be showing at Shrek Academy. Daydream, on the other hand, was pushing for Yuhao to venture up into the Extreme North to save her precious ‘Bing Bing’ and get his first spirit ring on his new spirit essence.
Yuhao was torn between both options as they each had their own advantages and disadvantages. In Amra’s case, they would strengthen their ‘main’ spirit essence through a second ring, increasing their chances to enter Shrek Academy. Due to them still having just under two months, they could take their time to find the most suitable spirit and possibly breakthrough to rank 30 and get a third as well. However, in this case, they would be missing out on absorbing a 400,000-year-old spirit with her respective powerful spirit bone. Contrastingly, in Daydream’s case, they would gain the 400,000-year-old spirit and spirit bone, however, would be restricted to only having only three weeks to search for a spirit ring for his dragon spirit due to the massive distance to the north and the one week it will take to travel back to Shrek City.
As the two spirit beasts argued, Daydream’s stubbornness began to wear out Amra’s pride. Eventually, they agreed on a compromise that Yuhao, similarly agreed to. The plan was for Yuhao to rush as fast as he could to the Extreme North, completely avoiding the four cities and stretches of spirit beast forest on the way. Once in the Extreme North, they would receive the Ice Jade Empress Scorpion spirit and bone, which should push him into rank 30, before spending the remaining three weeks searching in the Icebound Forest. The Icebound Forest, while located just south of the Extreme North, did have a wide range of non-ice attributed spirit beasts according to Daydream, from her experiences there over a thousand years ago.
With all concerned parties firmly in agreement on the correct course of action, Yuhao sped up, alternating between running at a sustainable, ten-hour long pace, eating from his storage bracer once a day and cultivating to not only restore his energy used, reduce his eating requirements, but also negate the necessity to sleep. After almost two and a half weeks of this daily routine occurring for Yuhao, with his physical endurance having noticeably improved, he had arrived in the desolate and uninhabited Extreme North.
Unlike the original Yuhao who required Daydream’s shedded skin to keep the cold at bay, thanks to, not only his new FrostFire spirit that made him immune to the effects of the heavily-saturated ice element essence in the atmosphere, but Amra’s fused bloodline, even with the reduced fire essence it now has, still kept any other coldness from affecting him.
As Daydream was directing Yuhao to a suitable location to call upon the Ice Jade Empress, they rounded one last snowy mountain. AS they did so Yuhao managed to catch a glimpse of the Ice Devil Titan King walking away in the distance. Even though it was several tens of kilometres away, it was still quite visible due to its massive size, at almost one hundred metres tall, his enhanced eyesight from his spirit eyes and bloodline, but also the Douluo planet’s reduced curvature as it was at least three times the size of Earth. Upon seeing Yuhao’s interest in the beast, she thought he was simply curious about its origin, “That is the Ice devil Titan King. Leader of the Titan Ice Devil clan and descendant of the Titan Giant Clan. Here in the Extreme North, it is said that the Ice God’s blood flows through its veins.”
“A perfect option for me” Yuhao murmured just loud enough for Daydream to hear.
Daydream’s eyes opening comically, “WHAT?! No way. I didn’t join you only for you to throw your life away. The chances of you, let alone any human being able to beat it here in the Extreme North is basically zero!”
“I am not going to fight him now, obviously. But when I am much stronger in the future he is definitely one of my goals. What is more of a legendary achievement than not only beating one of the three North Emperors that is classified as the largest living creature on the whole continent but making it one of my spirit rings as well.” Yuhao commented back, unsurpassed by her reaction. When he and Amra talked about their future plans, the lion had a similar reaction.
Daydream frowned seeing his determination, before replying sulkily, “Hmph, if you lose when that happens, I-I will haunt you forever.”
“Yeah, yeah, you do that. Let’s focus on what we are doing now though. Let us finally find this scorpion.”
She nodded, “Just head over to that small rockface over there and we can get started. We will obviously have to wait for a little bit to ensure the titan doesn’t come back.”
Yuhao without replying trudged over through the metres thick snow. Once he arrived Daydream stated, “I am going to bring her over now. I will have to release my aura to attract her real body here so make sure you don’t move or release any energy. While I hope she will be open to listening to what I have to say, I haven’t seen her in several years so I can’t be confident.”
As they waited for ten minutes to let the Titan walk away, Yuhao moved around some larger rocks near the rockface to cover his body. They had discounted the ‘bury his body in the snow’ idea as his very high natural body heat caused the snow in contact with him to slowly melt into a puddle.
“Ok, I am starting.” Daydream stated.
As she said this, an intense undulation of soul power slowly appeared within his mind before spreading outwards rapidly. It felt for Yuhao as if he was overlooking the earth from the sky above and was an entirely different feeling from when he normally used his Spiritual Detection ability when venturing the forests. This soul power continued past the 100-kilometre diameter mark and was soon followed by another energy that Yuhao could not accurately confirm but guessed as Daydreams own spiritual energy. Contrary to Yuhao’s expectation, she did not release her own aura but actually used her spiritual energy to imitate that of the Snow Empress, a beast that no spirit beast would dare contest. While the other spirit beasts in the area believed the initial aura as that of the Snow Empress, the Ice Emperor had known her for a long time and therefore was able to clearly see through the imitation. The combined might of these two energies begin to coalesce into Daydream’s spiritual body, floating only a few metres in front of where Yuhao quietly sat behind the rocks.
As her body completed its formation, she sent a thought outwards along her spiritual force, “Ice Emperor, I know that you have sensed that I am here. I wish to speak with you.”
