The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 22
As Yuhao opened the sturdy, wooden, restaurant door, even being so early in the morning, there was a lot of people already inside. Each table was made from the local Icebound Forest trees, all aged at least several thousand years. With plant-type spirit beasts being able to begin the protect themselves once they reach a thousand-years in cultivation, the furniture alone was extremely high class and boasted the strength and prestige the owner held.
As soon as he walked in, a waiter quickly showed him to an empty table. He was given the offer of several customary drinks, with which he chose spirit gr.a.p.e juice, a drink he grew to like quite a lot back in Soutuo City. The drink was served within the minute, leaving Yuhao to sit in wait for his food.
As he sat there, he couldn’t help but hear a man a couple of tables away murmuring to his partner, “Did you hear? Apparently the owner brought back several parts from a snake spirit beast. It is rumoured to even be over ten thousand years in age! I wonder who is going to be served some of that!”
His partner jiggled in excitement, “Oh wow, I hope it is me. That food will very saturated in energy and could potentially push me into making a breakthrough. There are so many parts of a snake to eat. Surely between the two of us, we will have at least one serving of it.”
Yuhao’s curiosity was definitely peaked. Cooking spiritual beasts was a good way to improve cultivation, however, there were several special methods you need to learn to in order to cook it without issues. People in the past who have eaten beast meat without using the special methods led to a massive build-up in impurities, overloading with origin energy causing them to explode and also being poisoned from the meat itself. Snakes generally have poisonous blood that saturates their muscles and flesh, and the method to detoxify this meat is not widely known. It is one of the things he wishes to try sometime in his lifetime, so this could potentially be that time.
After only ten minutes of waiting, the waiter carrying his food arrived.
“Here is your meal sir. It is Soft-Boiled, Fourteen-Thousand-Year Grass Python Eggs, with a side bowl of Moon Rice and one uncooked, attribute-less egg as well. The chef specified that the uncooked egg is not for eating, but you would know what to do with it.”
Yuhao nodded at the words however was unsure as to what the eggs use was. He did have one question though, “Could I ask what the difference between Moon Rice and Moonlight Rice is?”
“Yes, that is a reasonable question. Moon Rice is a special form of rice created by the owner. He has spent quite a while understanding how Moonlight Rice is created and has replicated some of its effects in his creation. The entire bowl of rice will satisfy a spirit master, no matter the rank, for six days, even if it is consumed all at once,” The waiter stated.
Yuhao grinned in hearing the answer, “Thank you and extend my thanks to the chef and owner.”
The waiter smiled in turn and replied, “I will. Enjoy.”
As the waiter walked away to help seat another person that entered the restaurant, Yuhao couldn’t help but begin eating.
He started with the boiled snake eggs, by attempting to peel the eggshell off of it. As soon as he touched the shell, the entire thing broke away from the inside egg mysteriously. Getting past the surprise he used his spoon to scoop out his first mouthful. The eggs reminded him back on Earth when he used to have Soft-Boiled eggs there, with the only difference being the yolk, while still gooey didn’t act like a normal liquid and more like jelly. It bounced and wobbled on top of the albumen, or as he called it, the white egg part.
Very eager to try it, he put the egg in his mouth, shortly followed by eating some Moon Rice alongside. Both flavours worked tremendously well together. It had a warm, gooey taste which surprising ended with a cold, refreshing after-taste. It was hands down the best food he has ever eaten and quickly spurned Yuhao to continue eating and savouring the rest of it. His spirit gr.a.p.e juice went very well with the flavours, matching the savouriness of the egg and rice with the sweetness of the gr.a.p.es.
As he continued eating, the food entering his stomach began being absorbed automatically by him. Both his blood essence and spiritual power being circulating rigorously, saturating his whole body with the python’s origin energy and sustenance. He noticed that his muscles became a little denser and his inner organs and meridians became a little more durable. The rest of the energy travelled down to his spiritual sea, filling up the energy he has used from travelling to the city, before slightly purifying his sea.
Other ordinary cultivators would have had much greater effects from this process, however, Yuhao’s cultivation technique and bloodline seals have already achieved several of these effects previously. While only having minimal effect, every action that strengthens him is appreciated.
After thirty minutes of the most enjoyable meal Yuhao had ever had, all that was left was the uncooked, attribute-less egg. The egg was obsidian black with very faint dark grey lines zigzagging across the shell. It gave off a really faint energy signature, signifying that it is an egg from a spirit beast.
Even though Yuhao was analysing it intensely and trying to think of what its usage could be, he was stumped. No matter what he thought, he could not seem to think of a use. Yuhao knowing just sitting there won’t help him in discovering this mystery, decided to seek help from Amra and the rest of his conscious beasts.
Yuhao used a little of his spiritual power to create a realistic representation of the egg in his mindscape. Seeing their host focusing in the mindscape, all four conscious beasts crowded around him.
“Hi guys, so I have this egg here and I am not sure what I should be doing with it” He stated.
All of the beasts looked from him to the egg.
Amra, who was looking intensely at it inquired, “What type of egg is it? I can sense it is from a spirit beast and the shell matches that of a reptilian species.”
Yuhao nodded, “Yes it is a reptile. An egg from that dead snake we discovered in the forest as a matter of fact. It was a grass python.”
Amra looked even closer at the egg, trying to find a good use for the egg, however, even after several minutes he was still as clueless as Yuhao. The egg was very ordinary and just seemed like any other egg you would find from a spirit beast.
As the spirit beasts were surrounding the egg, an aged voice echoed out across the mindscape, “Big lion, little host. It should be obvious what the egg is used for.”
