The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 23
“HUH? WHO’S THAT” Screamed out the Ice Empress.
Amra looked in the direction of the voice’s source, the little grey orb floating in Yuhao’s mental sea, “Ah, so you are finally awake.”
The mysterious voice echoed out once again as all of the spirit beasts, except for Amra felt a pressure that they feared. The voice came from an entity whose soul was ranked on a completely different level than they were. “Yes, I am. Thank you for allowing me to do so.
Daydream’s eyes opened wide in surprise as she never thought the entity from back then was so powerful, “Y-You are”
The grey orb in Yuhao’s mental sea began glowing before shooting across the space to begin floating in front of the crowded group of beasts around Yuhao.
The orb continued speaking, “I can’t remember much about the things from my past’s history; however, I do know my name and some of the knowledge attached to the law I possess. My name is Electrolux, otherwise known as the Calamity Necromancer, the only possessor of the Divine Law of Necromancy.”
Hearing the mention of the foul art of necromancy, Kunou hid behind Yuhao while the Ice Empress got into a semi-battle stance. Even though the Ice Empress has been with the group for two weeks now, they still have not been able to discuss and mention all the future events and plans they know of, which happens to include who the grey orb of energy belonged to.
“No need to worry little beasts, from the memories I still have, I have mainly pursued in the necromantic arts of purification, and not the demonic arts you may be imagining. While I do have access to a plane of undead creatures, I can assure you that all of these creatures are created through evil beings or natural resources.”
The Ice Empress calmed down slightly, however, Kunou still remained behind Yuhao. Seeing the situation settling, Yuhao questioned Electrolux, “You said that it should be obvious what the egg is for? I still don’t understand. Could you fill me in?”
The necromancer flatly replied, “Very well. See you are not focusing on one of the most important points. The owner specifically gave you an ‘attribute-less’ egg. Not just a simple python egg. While not impossible to find, as we have one here now, they are extremely rare as eggs are almost always affected by the parent’s species. The snake inside hasn’t even undergone its first evolution which it does so to focus on a specific attribute or element. If it had already, seeing as its mother was a Grass Python, it would have most likely developed into an earth or nature element spirit beast.”
Light shone in Yuhao’s eyes as he seemed to piece things together, “So are you saying that I can somehow manipulate its development?”
“Yes, spot on. This is a perfect opportunity to get a skill that is extremely rare to find, if not impossible, but extremely well suited to your spirit. You should be able to use your spirit power, boosted by your mental energy to imprint the idea for any skill, within limits, into the egg.”
Yuhao nodded, “But then why doesn’t anyone else use this method?”
Electrolux’s orb shook slightly, “No. While this may really strong and an obvious solution for all spirit masters, remember the egg would be classified as zero years and therefore useless for every other spirit master, aside from you who has a cultivation technique that can increase the ages of your spirit rings.”
Now with everyone understanding the benefits this egg can bring to Yuhao, they all entered into thought as to where it would be best suited and what the skill could be. Knowing that he will not come up with a perfect solution straight away, Yuhao left his mindscape, returning to focus on the physical world.
He carefully picked up the egg, ensuring he doesn’t damage it in any way, before paying and leaving the Divine Bennu. It was still early morning and most food stalls and stores were still closed. Seeing as he did not have the ability to stock up on food in his storage bracer, Yuhao walked across the main road to the nearest inn. Given that he has a couple of days before needing to continue his journey, Yuhao decided to stay in Snow Rock City for at least one night.
He entered into the inn, funnily enough, named, Snowy Daydreams, and booked a room. It’s interior was almost at the same quality as that of The Divine Bennu, being made from a high-class brick, with countless pelts and furs from strewn across the floor. There were several rooms Yuhao was able to just make out, branching off of the main reception, leading to the dining areas and private lounges. As he made his way to the front desk, the receptionist, a slender, blonde-haired woman greeted him.
“Good morning. Welcome to Snowy Daydreams. How can I help you today?” She said, presenting her pearly white teeth when she smiled.
Yuhao couldn’t help but smile back, “Good morning. Is it too early to inquire about getting a room for this evening?”
“No that is perfectly acceptable. We do have several rooms available seeing as this is one of our quieter months during the year. Each room costs ten gold a night, with payment required beforehand.”
Yuhao hearing the price not being as expensive as he expected decided that two nights is worthwhile. “I will need one room for two nights, please,” he replied, sliding his hand into his pants pockets to pretend to take money out of them instead of his bracer, and then placing them on the counter.
The receptionist counted the coins and deposited them somewhere below the counter, out of sight. “Here you go. Your room is fourth from the left. As all of our rooms are, it is soundproof and insulated from spirit power fluctuations. We at Snowy Daydreams hope you enjoy your stay.”
Yuhao smiled to her before walking down the corridor into his room. As he entered, he sensed the room sealing itself off, stopping people from intruding and listening in. After getting settled and placing the egg safely on the nearby table, he sat on the bed and re-entered his mindscape.
“So what are the best ideas you all have come up with?” Yuhao inquired.
Seeing as all the beasts looked at each other, Amra took the lead in replying, “Well, we have decided on one possibility for each of your spirits, giving you the final decision between them, that is if you like the idea. Firstly, for your spirit eyes, we think a skill to allow you to copy a target’s skill would be very useful. For your FrostFire spirit, we believe either a gravity-based or modification skill would be suitable, especially considering their uses outside of battle. Lastly, which is probably my favourite is developing a space element skill for your Steel Space Dragon. You are planning on using it as your main spirit so this would only support that fact. We are not too sure about what the most suitable skill would be, but maybe something such as teleportation.”
