The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 26
The following morning, knowing nothing about what had happened during the night, Yuhao left on his journey to Shrek. Seeing as he had no need to eat food for the next week, considering the moon rice will continually sustain him, Yuhao decided to forgo stocking up on food and leave the city.
As he walked along the road, Yuhao had but one thought, ‘Why am I still travelling like this.’
He activated his Steel Space Dragon spirit before using his new spirit ring, Portal Control. As he did so, a vibrant purple ring of energy appeared in front of him and quickly expanded to 2 metres in height. Through the portal, Yuhao could see one of the roads he had run on as he made his way up to the Extreme North. This road was the closest point to Shrek Academy that he had been on and would, therefore, shorten his trip considerably.
Yuhao walked through the portal, not feeling a single thing as he did so. There was no feeling to indicate that he had just travelled hundreds of kilometres in an instant. He turned in the direction of Shrek and began running.
As he was moving, Kunou spoke up, “What is so important about going to this school?” As she asked the question her head was tilted curiously.
Yuhao was a little confused as Shrek was extremely famous continent-wide, however, remembered that before he met her, she was only five-thousand years old. “Well Kunou, Shrek has been around for nearly ten thousand years and is translated as monster using the ancient Douluo language. They have almost always been the number one location of breeding extremely powerful spirit masters, so I want to go to learn everything I currently don’t know there, as well as improve my fighting skills. I have also heard that the last two Tang Sect members are there, which is another organisation dating back ten thousand years, and they have extremely powerful techniques that I could use.”
Kunou understanding, happily replied, “Un.”
After a few hours of running, with Yuhao using his Armoured Charge skill to speed up the journey, Huo Yuhao finally saw Shrek Academy. Rather than calling it an academy, it’d be more suitable to call it a city. As he ran along the road he was able to see the tall walls of the city beginning to extend upwards from the distant fields. The walls were much taller than both Soutuo City and Snow Rock City and extended for hundreds of metres.
The Academy itself was established on a wide field, allowing it to cover an extremely vast area. It was a city in and of itself, having a population of over two million, with many people from around the continent constantly moving to this location due to its safety and popularity.
It was surrounded by land and flat plains in all directions for many kilometres, allowing the city to become the most important trade city on the entire continent. Merchants were able to access the south, north and western city gates at will; however, the east-most gate was restricted exclusively to Shrek students and personnel as the academy bordered on the city’s eastern walls.
Yuhao slowly made his way over the east-most gate, admiring the brick and stonework that had gone into building the monstrous wall. Even though spirit masters have the ability to manipulate elements, have increased physical abilities and many more special skills that could be used in construction, the wall still would have taken many months to erect.
As he arrived outside the gate, he noticed a large crowd of around five hundred students gathered. He had arrived only a day after the recruitment started for the new year, so the majority percentage of prospective students were still travelling to the academy. With the freshman class only taking one thousand students, most of these people will be unable to enter.
Yuhao walked over to the ten male and female youths that were lining up outside the gate. They all wore uniform showing off their status as outer courtyard, second and third-year Shrek Academy students. When they saw Yuhao walking towards them, the oldest looking male stepped out and questioned him, “Are you here to register for the freshman class?”
Yuhao nodded.
“Do you have your recommendation letter? What capital city did you go to?” The student asked him.
Yuhao hearing this scratched his head in embarrassment. With everything that had happened to him recently and knowing that the original Yuhao was able to enter the recruitment process without it due to being with Bei Bei, he had completely forgotten.
“Umm. I actually do have one. I am from Soutuo City.” He replied.
The student nodded in understanding, “Ah, I’m sorry. We don’t accept anyone that doesn’t have one. If you go to one of the cities now, I am sure you can get one for the freshman class of next year. You seem to be twelve or thirteen-years-old right? You have plenty of time.”
Yuhao looked up in the sky in thought, “I am only ten years old this year. Is there any way I can get in due to special talent? I have already reached over the fifteenth rank.”
“Wow, you look much older,” he stated shocked. “And you have good talent to match too. Maybe if you had reached rank twenty I could have asked about the possibility with one of our teachers, however with only rank fifteen is not enough.” Saying this the boy turned back around and began walking back to his year mates.
Yuhao was excited from hearing this, “WAIT! I have already surpassed rank twenty!”
The student froze for a few seconds before slowly turning around in shock. He frantically said, “Quick! Prove it.”
Without verbally responding, Yuhao released his spirit eyes silently, and before it fully formed, used his Spiritual Deception skill to hide his spirits rings and the glow the spirit creates around his eyes. Once the illusion was perfect and stable, he released his Steel Space Dragon spirit, changing the spirit rings that appeared at his feet to show one yellow and two purple. While this configuration looked so much weaker than its actual configuration of one black and two reds, it was still a step above the optimal rank of two yellows and one purple for a Spirit Elder.
All of the approximately five hundred people in the area suddenly turned silent, as the spirit ring glow was clearly visible to everyone. They looked from the spirit rings to the spirit master who owned them, only to see a clearly male figure, coated in metal armour from head to toe, with vibrant purple light glowing throughout it.
The male student who was talking to him quickly got over his shock and even more frantically replied, “Wait here!! I will get a teacher or elder immediately.” Immediately afterwards, he quickly sprinted off through the gates into the academy.
Acknowledging that this performance was more than enough to substitute for having no recommendation letter, Yuhao brought his spirits back into his spiritual sea and away from sight.
Not even a minute later, the student leader appeared back in front of the gate, with a much older man standing beside him looking straight at Yuhao.
“Come with me,” the man stated before beckoning Yuhao through the gate.
