The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 3

While Michael may argue that he stayed in the bright, light grey room for months or even years, it was only twenty-four hours later that when changes began happening around him once again. Slowly, one by one, people began appearing in the same places as the last group, prompting Michael to realise that Thanatos will return, and he will finally get noticed and sent to Elysium. As soon as the room filled up, the far wall once again split apart to reveal a figure. This figure, to Michael’s surprise, was not Thanatos, but another figure he recognised, Morrigan, the Celtic and Irish God of Death and War.

As she finished sorting dead, with there being a lot fewer people sent into the Fields of Punishment this time around, Michael was once again floated right in front of back. Luckily for him though, Morrigan did, in fact, turn around to scan the room before she exited, which earned him a gasp in shock from her when she saw him right in front of her.

“Now who are you little one?” She questioned.

Michael went to reply, only to find that he still could not speak. As if realises her mistake, Morrigan faintly blushed with mild embarrassment before waving her hand over him, with Michael feeling something click inside him, which he linked to the action.

“Thank you. To answer your question my name is Michael Arlo, and I appeared here in this room with the last group of people,” He replied.

“Oh, that is not good. You must have felt very worried all alone. Who was it that left you here? Was it Hel? No Hades?” She began firing off before a look of realization came across her. “No, it was Thanatos, wasn’t it? I never did fully trust him to do his job properly. Well, it is his loss. If you didn’t know Michael, you are what we would call a very valuable soul, in the Pantheon Realm.”

Hearing this confused him, “What do you mean by that, if I may ask?”

She nodded, “Well, once a soul reaches a certain karmic value, above what a soul in Elysium can hold, we are able to perform special actions and in return, receive this extra value as power, additional faith or life. Thanatos must have had something really important going on before he was called here to miss this, especially seeing as he has lost a fair amount of all three due to the actions of the Thanatos cult. Which funnily enough you played a major contribution in stopping. Ironic is it not?”

Michael couldn’t help but nod at this statement, as Morrigan continued.

“Well as for your special actions you can take several routes. The simplest, and one that several famous people from your planet have taken, is to enter into Elysium in your peak health and age. While not requiring anywhere near the karmic value you have access to, it is still open to you if you wish. Secondly, you can be reborn again on Earth as a baby with some gifts, but do keep in mind, the earliest you can be born is the time of your death to avoid a soul paradox. Lastly, and probably my favourite to partake in and offer is reincarnation. This has close to unlimited possibilities for you, seeing as all universes fiction or non-fiction do exist and who wouldn’t want to enter into their favourite universe.”

While definitely contemplating the first two, he couldn’t help but agree with Morrigan’s third option. “Just before I decide what option I want; can I ask how would reincarnation work? Would I get to choose the world and time? Would I keep my memories? Would I be able to choose who I could be, or would I be simply reborn as myself? Would I get any wishes along with it?”

Upon enquiring into reincarnation, she couldn’t help but do a small fist pump, causing Michael to chuckle lightly. “Yes, you can choose what world you get reincarnated in and what time period you wish, with your memories. These memories of this meeting and your past life will be protected stopping anyone from reading them, if that is possible in that universe. While you will get some wishes, which will be largely dependent on what universe you want to be reincarnated into, you will need to use one of your wishes to be reborn to as a specific person. And don’t worry, if you decide to be reincarnated within an already existing person, I will be effectively copying their souls. This means that while you will get all the memories and powers of the original soul, you won’t be killing them forever and they still get to go to the afterlife.”

Michael slowly nodded as he took it all in, “Ok, I will go with that option, the third one then. I don’t have any family to wait for. While I am sure I would be able to have an enjoyable time with my comrades and parents in Elysium or live a new life on Earth, reincarnation in my favourite universe is just too attractive to pass up.”

“And what universe would that be?” Morrigan inquired, curiously.

Michael smirked, “Soul Land or as it is more commonly known, Douluo Dalu.”

“Ooh, that is a good one. A lot of potential routes to explore, routes for power, not to mention using the information you already know about future events.” Morrigan couldn’t help but add. “So within that universe, there are several things you will need to decide. Firstly, what timeline you would like to enter in. For wishes, as long as none of your wishes are too large, I am sure should I should be able to complete three in total.”

Michael nodded and thought for a couple of minutes before replying, “While each have their own benefits, I think I will have to go with the second timeline, during Huo Yuhao’s era. As for my wishes, I would firstly like to be reincarnated as Huo Yuhao himself, straight after birth. Is it possible, within the limits of the same wish to keep Huo Yuhao’s original spirit eyes and add what my equivalent spirit essence would be on top?”

“That would be fine. It will be a little more expensive to do so however will not cost enough to stop the other two wishes, as long as they are within reason and don’t give immediate power. Power is expensive, but potential and knowledge are much more efficient.” Morrigan contributed.

“Ok, thanks for letting me know. For my second wish then, could I have a high-quality cultivation technique that will always be effective no matter what spirit essences, rings, bones or skills I have and use?” He asked.

“That is very doable. That wish is quite small so would you like to specify any benefits of the technique?” She asked.

“Do you mind if I list some things and you tell me if they are possible?”

She quickly replied, “Go ahead.”

Michael took a moment before starting, “If it is possible, could I have a technique that can improve my body, soul and spirit energy, actively and passively. The technique since it improves my body, could not only negate the decrease in cultivation speed that ultimate elements and attributes cause, as it allows my body to acclimatise faster, but also help to induce spirit awakenings. Lastly, maybe it can gradually generate some form of energy that increases the age of my spirit souls and bones. Not too sure what the energy is called though.” After finishing his listing looked up to the Goddess in question.

Morrigan smiled, “It is called origin energy, and all those things but origin energy are acceptable. Spirit awakenings will take a long time to happen without you doing additional physical exercise. As for origin energy, it is something that goes against the natural laws of the world. While it is possible in the universe, it is limited to spirit beasts using their own essence to do so, that they gain over hundreds of thousands of years, or extremely rare resources that are originally found in the Divine Realm. To add it in, it would cost almost all of the remaining karmic overload.”

Yuhao thought carefully about whether or not it is a good idea. He considered wishing for something along the lines of blacksmithing or herbology knowledge but that can be gained in the universe. While Morrigan stated that you can find ways to increase the ages of spirit rings and bones, they are extremely rare or way too late to really make much of a difference. “Very well, add it in. I will have it as my third wish.”

“Just so you know, it won’t be generated as fast as some of the fanfictions you have read. Even with constant physical training and this cultivation technique, the rate of increase those fanfictions have will simply cause your body to overload and explode. With those three wishes, you have used up almost all of your overloaded karmic value. Is there anything you would like changed? Something really small?”

“Umm, I don’t know how I could use it effectively. Is it possible for you to look into my future or something and use it in the most effective way possible?” Michael inquired, with a curious, but interested look.

“While we usually wouldn’t, since you were left here by Thanatos I will do it for you. I won’t be able to tell you what your future looks like or where I made the change. Is that fine?”

Michael smiled, accepting it, “Yes that is perfectly fine. I don’t think I want to know my future anyway. Would kind of ruin the fun, don’t you think?”

“Yes, most definitely. Well, I have made the change. Is there anything else you would like to ask, before I send you off?

“No, I don’t. But thank you very much for your help and this opportunity. You have been much kinder and more patient then I would have thought any God or Goddess would be.” Michael replied sincerely.

“It was my pleasure. Well, I hope you have a good second life, Michael, or should I say Huo Yuhao.” Morrigan unleashed a ray of light into the closest wall, opening up a spatial rift that Michael’s noticeably less shiny, white soul, flew through.

As Michael made his way through several spatial rifts that closed a few seconds after they were created, he passed by the Douluo Divine Realm’s prison, that not only held the Golden Dragon king but several other god class beasts. For one such beast, it was lucky enough to be close enough to the rift to slip through before it closed, following Michael in his descent to the planet.

As Michael entered the planet’s atmosphere, he fell straight down towards the floor, through roofs and walls to enter into the 2-month-old Huo Yuhao. As soon as he entered, he began assimilating with the existing soul, allowing the original soul to enter the afterlife, and as per the wish asked for by Michael, now, Yuhao, provided him with two spirit essences. Following this, Yuhao fell asleep to fully acclimatise and his new body. One hour later, the beast that followed Yuhao into the planet quickly realised that the Divine Realm was sealed off from spirit beasts. It came up with an idea that will allow it to once again be rise to the Divine Realm, not as a spirit beast, however, but by supporting a spirit master with the greatest mental potential.

Consequently, after using its spirit power to scan all children below the age of six in a one-hundred-kilometre radius, it decided that Yuhao was this child, easily surpassing others. What the beast did not know, was that this potential came exclusively from Yuhao’s thirty-five years’ worth of mental development and not the original child itself. While the original Huo Yuhao did have great future accomplishments as a mental-attributed spirit master, luck played a major role in allowing him to fuse with a conscious one-million-year-old spirit beast that guided and helped him with a large portion of his cultivation progress. After confirming that he had chosen the right child out of the three other children in the mansion, he proceeded to fuse with Yuhao’s bloodline and completely seal its powers into eighteen perfectly safe, separate seals. This will allow the child to slowly absorb his power as he gets stronger. Similar to Yuhao, the beast also fell asleep to fully complete the fusion and ensure it doesn’t harm the child in the process.
