The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 35
After performing the skill, the white-clothed male quickly nodded at Zhou Yi, who bowed respectfully back to him, before leaving just as he came, like a gust of wind. From the start to end, he hadn’t said a word to Zhou Yi at all.
Zhou Yi gazed at all the students who were slowly crawling up and indifferently said, “I have to say, you all have astonished me quite a bit. Today, nobody will be eliminated.”
Once she said this, the students couldn’t help but immediately let out a cheer, especially the few who’d run the least number of laps, who felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted from their minds.
“You should all reflect on what happened here today,” their teacher started saying, “I expect that today was the first day that many of you really tried to improve yourselves, rather than only getting by on your talent. Take your set of chainmail with you and head back to your dorm rooms. Tomorrow, another teacher will be having a class on theory with you all. My next class will be in the afternoon, the day after next. At that time, I hope that I won’t see any trash as this morning.”
As the students happily made their way back to their rooms, nearly every single student showed some form of respect or thanks towards Yuhao. Some did this through verbally thanking him, others a simple nod or short bow.
Yuhao made his way over to Wang Dong who was laying on the ground staring off into the sky.
“How did you do it?” Wang Dong said.
Yuhao tilted his head slightly, “Do what?”
Wang Dong turned his head to look at Yuhao, his pinkish-blue eyes shining in the setting sun, “Motivate everyone, including me to work so much harder. This was probably the single most exhausting experience I have ever partaken in and I can’t help but realise it was because of you.”
Yuhao helped his roommate get up off the floor as he replied, “I don’t really think it is right to see that achievement as something I have done. Maybe seeing me continually running is the reason why our classmates and yourself worked that little bit harder, however that was still your own choice to do so. That was a result of your own determination, your own willpower, your own effort. There were so many reasons, aside from your body and its exhaustion, trying to keep you on the floor, and yet you didn’t… That is all you. Hold onto those reasons and you will find that you have a much greater purpose in your cultivation journey.”
Finishing his impromptu, sagely speech, Yuhao patted Wang Dong on the back and began heading off to their dorm room. Wang Dong just stood there staring at his back as he walked off, mesmerised as he committed to memory the profound words said to him. His interest in his roommate couldn’t help but increase as he resaid these words in his head, which unknowingly began to create the seed of possibility for their future.
As Yuhao walked off, he couldn’t help but think about his own words, over and over again, ‘What are my reasons to get stronger? I always just imagined my reasons to be search out the strongest spirit beasts and skills, protect my family and finally, ascend to godhood. Spirit beast and skills will come in time. My family is already safe, not like anyone but a select few in Soutuo City even know that I have family there. Finally, Godhood is so far away that while having it as an end goal is still valid, it is too long term to really push myself to the limit.’
Yuhao kept thinking about possible reasons, trying to find a solid goal to stand by. Finally, he reached his room, without being able to come up with anything solid.
‘It should come in time,’ he thought. ‘For now, I should aim to get stronger to ensure my future goal will not go unmet. If I am strong enough, any and all goals I set out for myself should be doable.’
Happy with his reasoning, Yuhao climbed onto his bed and entered straight into cultivation. His body was still recovering from the day’s events, which was widely acknowledged as the best time for anyone to cultivate.
Two hours later, satisfied with his cultivation improvement of pushing into the middle of rank thirty-three, Yuhao stood up from his bed, ready to get some dinner. As he was got up, he softly called out to his roommate, enquiring if he also wanted to get dinner as well.
Hearing no response and not wanting to disturb his cultivation, Yuhao got changed out of his clothes that he had forgotten to change from earlier. What he wasn’t aware of was one of the eyes of his roommate slightly opening, innocently peeking and softly blushing as Yuhao took off his shirt, exposing his well-toned and aesthetically muscled torso. The eye enthusiastically watched him search through his things for a suitable shirt, before he put a suitable one on.
As the still oblivious Yuhao began changing his pants, his roommate quickly shut both of his eyes, his face quickly turning red. After several minutes of not hearing any more sounds, Wang Dong opened his eyes once again. He gave a sigh of relief, which quickly turned into another blush as the most recent images continued to circulate in his mind. Following this, it took Wang Dong a full thirty minutes before he managed to focus back on his cultivation.
Only five minutes later, Yuhao returned to the room. He was very surprised seeing Wang Dong in the exact same position as he was when he left, not knowing the problems and struggles that had just occurred.
Yuhao quickly seated himself on his bed and pulled out the Tang Sect’s Mysterious Treasure Record. Before he entered into his nightly cultivation session, he wanted to at least try one other Tang Sect skill. Knowing that all but one of them are not suitable for use inside a dorm room, he was left with practising the Mysterious Jade Hands skill.
Following the instructions, he infused his spirit power into his forearms, wrists, hands and fingers. He kept condensing the energy until he felt his spirit power soak between all of his skin cells.
Curiously, he looked intensely at his hands that now glowed a pure white. As he experimented with the effects, he found that his hands were quite a lot more tensile and tough. His spirit power coated his whole hand, while also filling the gaps between his skin cells. This spirit energy existing inside his skin cells supports the skin in being stretched, but also helps to prevent damage from occurring or poisons seeping into the body through this location.
