The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 36
The next day, Yuhao arose from his cultivation trance just before the rising of the sun. He quickly notified Wang Dong of the time, before both roommates looked out of their window towards where the sun is starting to rise from the horizon.
Following the guidelines for the Purple Demon Eye technique, Yuhao began slowly inhaling through his nose and gently exhaling through his mouth. This continued for several minutes until the sun rose completely above the easterly horizon. At this time, purple qi appeared, trailing the sun’s path. Upon catching sight of this qi, Yuhao’s breaths changed to one slow inhalation for the short time before the qi completely vanished. This purple qi was absorbed through his eyes into his brain and mental sea. It invigorated and refreshed all of his senses and at the same time, increased his neural transmissions.
As the qi vanished, Yuhao closed his eyes and let out a long exhalation that produced a faint white qi out of his mouth. When he reopened his eyes, for a few seconds, there was a glimmer of light purple in the centre of his eyes.
As this light in his eyes faded, a tiny bead of purple qi appeared inside Yuhao’s mental sea. Currently, this qi is too small to be used in any way, however considering his current talent for the mental attribute, it won’t be long before this bead becomes another source of power for him.
Both roommates released a relaxing sigh once the temporary high from the purple qi settled. Wang Dong casually bumped his elbow and said, “Let’s go and get some breakfast. After yesterday’s training and this morning, I could even eat double!”
Yuhao laughed as he too felt that he could eat way more food than he usually does. “Sure! Let’s go.”
When Yuhao and his roommate arrived at the dining hall, their hunger had only increased. They decided to eat from a slightly cheaper window to allow them the ability to eat a much greater quantity of food. While quality is important in meals, sometimes it just can not make up for the quantity required to sate your hunger.
After fifteen minutes of speed eating, with only a few students joining them in the dining hall during that time, they decided to spend the rest of the morning relaxing while exploring the academy grounds. This decision was considerably influenced by Yuhao himself, as he remembered that this would be the day where he would have his first interaction with Ma Xiaotao.
The two left the dining hall and cut through the school building for new students as they headed to the east along the south side of Shrek Plaza. Soon afterwards, they arrived at the alley to the lakeside.
As they passed through the forest next to the alley, Sea God Lake, with its gleaming waves that were reflected in the sunlight, and its water that was both clear and crystalline, was presented before their eyes. Even though Yuhao had managed to catch a glimpse of it when he entered the academy, in the early morning, just as the sun was beginning to shine down on it, it looked so extremely beautiful.
“So beautiful!” Wang Dong couldn’t help but inhale deeply, physically exerting himself as he stretched his body.
When he stretched his body, Wand Dong’s shirt was inevitably pulled up, as if to tempt Yuhao to sneak a peek at the perky female butt that Wang Dong can’t hide using her disguise technique.
Yuhao however, was not one to give in to temptation, not to mention that while his body was currently in the exact age where boys would be expected to begin exhibiting attraction to girls, mentally, through both lifetimes combined, he was over forty-five years old.
Cultivation allows the human body to develop at a much faster rate compared to non-spirit masters, allowing Wang Dong’s body to be at the same development as a normal 15-year-old. However, Yuhao does not classify himself as a pervert, so while Wang Dong has been staying in the same dorm room as him, he has been actively avoiding noticing his feminine features, such as his butt, that his roommate’s masculine disguise technique failed to hide.
‘I don’t know how the original Yuhao never even considered that ‘he’ was a ‘she’. There are so many obvious things that expose Wang Dong’s true identity, without mentioning the most obvious thing being her martial spirit, which only females can have for heaven’s sake! Hopefully, in a few years, we will be close enough that she will feel comfortable with me enough to say it,’ Yuhao thought.
Quickly shaking himself out of his thoughts, knowing what is soon to happen, he focused on the far side of the lake. Not soon after, a red dot appeared, causing the mist to rise up around it as it began travelling towards them.
Sensing Yuhao intently gazing towards the lake, Wang Dong couldn’t see anything for a couple of seconds before he opened his eyes wide and stared. He could also see a red-coloured figure that was currently heading straight towards them at a rapid pace.
“Who is it do you think?” Yuhao said, acting oblivious while simultaneously getting prepared.
Wang Dong was getting more and more shocked by the second. “It must be an inner-court student!” She exclaimed.
As the figure got closer, Yuhao was also able to see it even better. The whole slender figure of Ma Xiaotao, from head to toe, was coloured red. Her hair was red, her mask was red, her clothing was red, and her long, thigh-length boots were red. The only parts that weren’t red, were the fair-skinned arms and neck that were not covered by her battle dress.
Oblivious to the danger that this individual could put them in, Wang Dong excitedly stated, “This senior seems to be very strong! Look, they can even run on the surface of the water without releasing their Martial Soul.”
As the figure got closer, Yuhao made the last move for him to be fully preparedsummoning his FrostFire Spirit. This was summoned alongside his Spirit Eyes to hide his one-hundred-thousand-year-old ring, of course.
This was something that Yuhao had discussed with his spirit beasts. He knew that to receive the best possible resources and combat training from the academy, he would have to show even more talent than simply being a rank thirty spirit master at his age. This was why he had decided to show his FrostFire spirit, and if the time is right, show them his third spirit as well. Yuhao never understood the reason why main characters in books always hide their strengths, especially when they not only trust the people they are showing them to, but also when these same people can support them considerably.
When Wang Dong saw the hammer-scythe spirit and the illusioned red ring, which to her was purple that appeared at Yuhao’s feet, so many things were going through his mind, ‘He also has another spirit? Why is he releasing it now? What is that spirit? I have never seen or even heard of a martial spirit that looks like that before!’
In the period that Wang Dong was thinking to herself and Yuhao was preparing, the figure had already approached the hundred-metre radius of the shore. A frightening surge of heat engulfed them in that instant that awoke to Wang Dong to the realisation that this incoming person wasn’t moving towards them in a friendly manner.
Startled, Wang Dong released his martial spirit as azure wings spread out from his back. He attempted to grab a hold of Yuhao, however quickly stopped his movement when he noticed Yuhao exuding his spirit power.
His spirit power leaving his body quickly morphed into freezing cold ice energy which began to slowly push back the intense heat that was coming out of the red figure, that Yuhao knew was Ma Xiaotao.
If Yuhao was one greater rank higher, then his own ice energy would have completely overwhelmed Xiaotao’s own fire energy. However, currently, the difference in power was over three greater spirit ranks, so Yuhao was only able to use his ultimate ice energy to push the non-focused, heat aura back slowly. Even though he is quite resistant to her fire and heat, not immune as it is over two greater ranks, he needed to do this to ensure that his roommate Wang Dong wasn’t severely injured, if not killed.
With the first issue solved, Yuhao, with the assistance of the Empress Scorpion, condensed a large portion of his spirit power into ultimate ice energy onto his scythe blade. Following this, he swung the weapon towards the spiritually unstable Ma Xiaotao, launching the energy in a wide arc. As she was currently not in her right mind, she didn’t have the capability to defend herself.
Sensing a slight danger to its owner, a loud and somewhat painful cry of a phoenix abruptly rang out, as Xiaotao’s martial spirit manifested itself. It was a dark red phoenix, with black energy currently covering the entirety of its head. The phoenix flew in front of its owner and used its head to receive the incoming ice energy.
The two opposing forces battled, one of ultimate ice, against one of evil fire, until the ice energy managed to break through the phoenix manifestation. As the ice travelled through the manifested spirit, Yuhao could visibly see the black energy diminish somewhat from the phoenix’s head, alongside all the surrounding heat and fire being exuded from Ma Xiaotao dissipating.
The ice energy travelled through and past the phoenix before impacting against Ma Xiaotao’s stomach. The manifested phoenix quickly flew back and into its owner just before Xiaotao’s entire body was covered in a thin sheet of ice, knocking her out. She fell straight into the Sea God Lake since her spirit power was no longer keeping her on top of the water’s surface.
“Quick Yuhao, someone is coming!” Daydream shouted out from inside his mental sea, standing next to all of Yuhao’s conscious spirit beasts who had been watching the incident closely.
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Yuhao replied back, before quickly swapping to his Steel Space Dragon spirit and using his third spirit ring to summon a portal. He quickly grabbed the gobsmacked Wang Dong by the hand and dragged him through the portal, straight into their dorm room.
