The Yuhao Chronicles - Volume 1 Chapter 47
Zhou Yi went on to speak for the entire morning class. While she stated that it was an explanation regarding the knockout tournament, it was more heavily focused on the actual competition. The two found out that out of the five teams who achieve complete victories aside from them, three of them have three-ringed Spirit Elders just like Yuhao.
Despite this, with the amount of effort they have put in, their teamwork, their talent and their most recent ability to conduct a spirit fusion, they were very confident in aiming for the top two, if not the top spot. Overall, even if they somehow did manage to not get the champion position, it would simply mean that they lost to a better team. This in and of itself would satisfy them as it would mean they would have had a good battle against their opponents.
With no afternoon class to allow students to mentally prepare themselves for the following day’s tournament, they had an early dinner before heading to their secret cultivation spot outside of the academy to test their martial spirit fusion.
After they arrived, Yuhao smiled and boldly said, “Come,” while spreading his arms wide.
Wang Dong was stunned. His gaze towards Huo Yuhao immediately turned vigilant as he whispered, “What’re you doing?”
Huo Yuhao replied in a very natural manner, “Let’s hug!”
Wang Dong’s expression immediately changed, “You”
“Huo Y-” Wang Dong went to say before Yuhao cut him off.
“Have you forgotten how we caused the martial spirit fusion in the first place? The simplest way for us to activate our spirit fusion is to obviously repeat what happened yesterday!” Yuhao said, still keeping a cheeky smile on his face that was starting to annoy Wang Dong.
“You didn’t even explain anything before you asked me to hug you. Are you purposely trying to embarrass me?” Wang Dong said, using his anger to disguise his embarrassment.
Yuhao smiled wider, “Yes.”
This prompted Wang Dong to pounce on Yuhao, however with Yuhao’s greater physique and cultivation, Yuhao was able to easily react. He quickly sidestepped his roommate before quickly stepping in behind him and wrapping his arms around him. With Yuhao being thirty centimetres taller than Wang Dong, he was holding him off the ground quite easily.
Not wanting to actually hurt Yuhao, all Wang Dong could do was helplessly struggle in his strong grip before sighing and giving in. As he did so, he just slumped in his roommate’s arms and activated his Bright Goddess Butterfly spirit. The butterfly wings, due to Yuhao pressing against his back, manifested while wrapped securely around his body. Yuhao followed this by activating his most commonly used spirit, the Steel Space Dragon.
The two stood there for a couple of minutes trying to get a fusion to work with these two spirits. After a further five minutes, they both fell confused.
Yuhao quickly released Wang Dong as he asked his mental companions, “Why is our spirit fusion not working? We are hugging just like last night and trying to merge our spirits.”
Amra chuckled, “It is pretty obvious, little host. Not all of your spirits like you mentioned the original Yuhao had will be able to spirit fuse with Wang Dong. I am guessing your Spirit Eyes will be able to fuse with both of her spirits, however, your Steel Space Dragon spirit is quite profound and unique in its abilities. You will struggle even more than usual to find something that will merge with that. Unless you want to reveal your Spirit Eyes, then your best bet is to try and fuse your FrostFire spirit with her Bright Goddess Butterfly spirit, and if she allows, her Clear Sky Hammer.”
“Ok, that makes sense. Thank you.” Yuhao said before focusing back on the slightly depressed looking Wang Dong.
“Hey, Wang Dong. I think I have an idea.” Yuhao said, causing his roommate to look at him hopefully.
He smiled, “Why don’t I try my FrostFire spirit and your Butterfly spirit. We know that we are able to perform a martial spirit fusion due to what happened last night, it is just about finding what the correct combination is. Since I need to hold my spirit, why don’t you hug me this time?”
“Mhm…” Wang Dong said half-heartedly as he resummoned his spirit and hugged Yuhao’s back. Yuhao released his own spirit. As he did so, the area around them began growing brighter as it rapidly alternated between cold and hot.
To the left of the two hugging roommates, appeared a giant spectre of Yuhao’s FrostFire spirit. Likewise, to the right, an enormous Radiant Butterfly Goddess spectre appeared. After these spectres appeared, they slowly moved together and began fusing. This fusion only lasted for three seconds before only a single spectre remained which simultaneously absorbed all of Wang Dong’s spirit power and almost sixty per cent of Yuhao’s own.
The single spectre remaining was a clear fusion between the two original spirits. It had a large black hammer in its right hand and a large black scythe in its left. On its back, while all four Radiant Goddess Butterfly wings were still there, they had changed to a vibrant red colour on the left, giving off small traces of heat, while the right wings contrasted as they were a bright blue and spread a chill out into the surroundings.
In an instant, the FrostFire Butterfly Goddess swung down its hammer, spreading out a massive oppressive force on the ground. Ice simultaneously began appearing on the floor in all directions around the two roommates. As soon as the hammer’s motion was complete, the spectre swung its scythe across its body, launching three intense beams of fire energy towards the ground in front of it. These fire energy beams simultaneously gouged out the floor while also scattering fire in their vicinity.
As this attack ended, the spectre faded away and the surrounding environment’s temperature turned back to normal. In the two roommates case, Yuhao was panting slightly for the exertion of having a major percentage of his spirit reserves being instantly used up, while Wang Dong who had fainted and was leaning against Yuhao, was being held on his feet solely by Yuhao’s arms.
Yuhao looked around at his surroundings, surprised by the damage the skill had done before picking Wang Dong up in a princess carry. After he did so, making sure he had a good hold, he activated his Steel Space Dragon spirit in order to open up a portal and deliver them back to their dorm room for some much-needed rest.
The night passed quickly with Yuhao cultivating and Wang Dong sleeping. Once again, Wang Dong arose earlier however contrary to yesterdays blissful awakening, he truly felt like dying due to the awful headache he had. He subconsciously groaned loudly which prompted Yuhao to look at him from his bed.
“Good morning friend,” Yuhao said, saying it in an extra cheery voice, prompting a pillow to instantly fly at his face.
Dodging effortlessly, he said, “We probably should go get breakfast soon. I missed out on it as I was cultivating last night, and you did as you were sleeping. With the tournament today, it would be very beneficial.”
Knowing that he was only making good arguments, Wang Dong quickly used his rotated his spirit power in his body to refresh his mind and muscles before groaning a second time and slowly lifting himself off of his bed. They quickly walked down, got some breakfast and gradually made their way to the assessment area, ready to register and participate in the knockout tournament.
