Then Comes Spring When Winter Ends - Chapter 109 Merman Not Mermaid
While Heather is thinking of coming over, Derek was contemplating to go over, Kwi Shan had managed to piece together Crystal information and was able to locate Heather’s location. He had mobilised some of his underworld forces to do a surveillance on the said place. He has been troubled to whether he should informed Jade regarding his plans but he knew he can’t hide anything from her, he might as well come clean with her.
He missed her so much despite seeing her everyday because the time spent with her were truly too little compared to in the past. His work demands and in addition there are spies and traitors among his workers and he is trying to lure them out. His other concern is his uncle’s comeback. He is unsure if his father could handle the emotional toil. In all honesty, he felt drained too but he can’t afford to wallow in it. He felt a pair of eyes staring at him.
Jade was looking at her husband’s constant changing emotions. He only does that when they are or he is alone. In front of others and even when faced with father he still put on a mask. She knew his burdens and wished he shared more with her. She went to him and without saying a word she inserted herself in his embrace.
Derek welcomed his source of distraction, comfort and motivation. He took in her scent that he just love so much and felt the knots in his heart undo. He just love this woman in his arms. He tightened his hold afraid she might disappear right before his eyes like his mother. He buried his head at the crook of her neck. She felt warm and wet fluid flowing down from his face. She kept still to allow him to express this rare moments of weaknesses. He thought of the scene his mother sacrificing herself for him so that he could live and he will cherish the chance she had given him since he found the person he would willingly give up his life to protect as well.
He regained his composure and patted her head lovingly as he made up his mind. “Wifey, I can’t afford to lose you, Father will handle the business here, please keep an eye on his health, I am planning to strike first in Russia, to gain an upper hand. I can’t afford to take any chances. Our child will be born soon an di want him to come into a peaceful world. I can’t let him come into a world of chaos. If I were to judge correctly Heather would be making plans to come here and she would plan to be here on April’s wedding. I know how much everyone means to you, I would not allow her to do as she pleases.”
“Then, what about you? You are more important than anyone, don’t sacrifice yourself just for everyone, I would never forgive you if you do that. This child would not even bear your name, if you dare to leave us behind. Stay safe okay, I won’t even ask you to bring me along because I know you would never agree but you need to keep yourself alive. Promise me.” Jade said while gripping both side of his face.
“I promise you, I have already thought of a name for out son, I want our son to be name Jayden Lee Cheng Huang.” Derek said as he planted a kiss on her lips.
“I don’t accept that name, I will wait for you to come home to register that name. If you aren’t back by that time, I won’t even bother to register our child name. I will strip him off his sure name and name him Lu instead.” She stared fiercely at him.
“Alright, alright. I, Derek Lee promised to keep myself safe and be back before the birth of our son and I promised to come back alive no matter what, I also vow not to do anything stupid to harm my life because I have a goddess waiting at home for me.” He swore solemnly.
His last sentence caused a smile to form on Jade’s worried face. He smiled back at her gently and embraced her as if it was his last. They both cried silently refusing to let the other know their worries.
He got up to get ready for work, he told her most likely he’d be leaving in few more days after her performances. Jade could not sleep back after Derek left, got up to prepare herself as well, today would be the opening of her Art Gallery. In another few more days she’d be conducting a section of Tales of Triumph and Defeats alongside China Philharmonic Orchestra at Concert Hall of NCPA. He would not miss any of her special day and he plans to keep her safe from harm during her performances an opening day. He had to discuss his plans with Father Lee as well.
Jade was sitting at her vanity table when she accidentally tapped her secret compartment and it revealed her locked safe. Using her finger print she opened the safe. Inside was a bunch of documents and the medallion. She picked up the medallion and her fingers ran along the inscription on it. It was a string of code, it got her excited and she took a pen and paper and started working on deciphering it. Finally, she managed to decode it, it was a phone number.
Anxious laced with excitement, she gingerly dialed the number, a lady answered the phone, “The sea is green not blue, not just fish and sea creatures reside, whatelse is there?”
Jade tried her hardest to rake her brain, she remembered one of the agent who stayed with them before he left, he mentioned something that goes along this line. “Merman not mermaid”. Her heart raced as she said those words.
“Please hold on while I transfer your call.” Beep.. Beep.. Beep..
