Then Comes Spring When Winter Ends - Chapter 136 Fallen Hard
The guards looked at each other, feeling conflicted, both were their bosses, they should make way for the lady boss because of anything were to happen to their bosses relationship, they might be getting the blame. Just before they could come to a tacit agreement, a loud thud is heard.
That loud thud came from inside the room. Boss!!! You must be kidding us, trying to move in your current condition.
Jade’s heart stopped for a moment oblivious to the guards thoughts. She then gathered all her strength and pushed away all the obstinate obstacle and rushed in, she saw him lying on the ground, his face pale from the pain he is enduring. He looked up and saw her hovering over with concern on her face and it was focused only on his face. The tears that he shed did not have the time to dry and he shed new tears. He is crying not because of pain, maybe partly because of pain but he nearly lost her. She was about to walk away and he couldn’t let her. His guards dragged Dr Sin in and another went to get the military doctor.
Dr Sin was speechless, he didn’t know if he was supposed to laugh or cry. Derek was supposed to be smart but why is he so dumb today, he decided to keep his opinion for now but years to come, this is something he would tell the Lee kids.
The nurses all rushed in at once as well, seeing the patient they just operated lying on the floor was truly a shocking scene. The impact of the floor must be painful, hopefully the implants does not get broken. The doctor and nurses chased everyone all out including Jade, they quickly gave Derek strong painkillers making him drowsy and trolley him out for a series of xrays and once again into the operating theatre, for wound wash out. This is to clean all the exposed wound to ensure infection is kept at bay.
Jade could only stared at the floor guiltily and then she stared hard at Dr Sin. Dr Sin who was sitting in a relaxed position suddenly felt he was being watched, corrected his posture, and looked around to find the source of the uneasiness he felt. He felt the room temperature dropped a few degrees when he realised Jade was staring at him. He quickly raised both hands up in surrender motion.
He understood the meaning of her stare, he quickly said, “In my defence, you asked if he could hear, you didn’t ask if his voice was loud enough. I had to go very near him to listen to his instructions, his voice was barely audible. However, the nurse bell is just by his hand, he could have pressed the button for attention, he didn’t have to try and get out of bed. At least, now you know you married a good fine young man.”
April who was drinking apple juice, almost choked on her drink hearing Dr Sin’s explanation. This is a good example of a shameless doctor.
Jade retracted her watchful and accusing gaze. She then asked the extent of Derek’s injuries. According to Dr Sin, from the information he gathered from Derek’s men, as Derek was about to take a step closer to Heather, he halted his step because of the news he heard regarding Jade, and at that moment, he realised Heather’s intention. He warned everyone else and had jumped out of the blast zone but unfortunately for him, because he was the nearest to the blast site and the unstable structures above him due to the blast, collapsed on both of his legs, causing both of his legs to fracture badly.
He would still be able to walk in the future but he will need multiple surgeries because he has exposed wounds on his left leg, that wound would need to close up first before they could insert an implant to hold the bone in place. For now he is on external fixation to keep the bone in place. Once, the implant is in, then he needs to wait for at least another two months for the new bone to grow strong and hold the implant in place before he could start some weight bearing exercise.
All these will require a lot of dedication and effort but Dr Sin knows Derek well enough and is confident Derek’s recovery will be a speedy one yet tough.
Father Lee arrived only to find everyone looking dejected and gloomy. Nobody seems to have realised his arrival nor nobody paid any attention to him.
