This Crayfish Is Not Edible - Chapter 227
The sky turned ominously red and a huge red dragon flew over them, casting shadow all over the kingdom.
Startled, Xia glanced up. “Who….who is that? That’s not Long…” he murmured worriedly.
“Drag….dragon!!!” Farah screamed out loud holding his hands up high. He pulled Xia’s sleeve and gestured for him to look up. “Cultivator, look, look, that a dragon, right? I’m not mistaken, right? Tel me cultivator tell me?”
Xia flung his hands away and wiped his sleeves. “Yes,” he affirmed, yet still the king kept tugging at him, “yes that is dragon! So stop pulling me,”
This snapped the king out of his dazed state. He glanced at the dragon and then glanced at the beautifully dressed Xia. “miss… no, mister cultivator….is that your dragon your friend?” he whispered in hesitation.
Xia shook his head. “My dragon is gold and black,” he then glanced at Felia and whispered, “change of plan, you both come with me. I don’t think this place will be safe at all,”
He dragged Felia and the kind with him.
“What do you mean?” Farah whispered confusedly.
“The dragon, whoever it is, is extremely pissed. Most probably a lot of lives will be lost. If you guys stay here, you both will end up as fodders to its rage,” he whispered and continued pulling them out the palace.
A few black-dressed guards tried stopping them but one word from their king silenced them all.
Xia Felia and Farah hurriedly walked past many panicked civilians towards the two giants’ direction.
“They fight seems to be concentrated next to the royal restaurant,” Felia murmured. In fact the dragon also turned around and flew back, casting a huge shadow below.
Xia glanced at the golden underside of the dragon, frowned. ‘Is this dragon a friend or a foe?’ he thought as he followed it relentlessly.
A few human cultivators followed it as well. Some shot arrows at it and some threw spears at it. But nothing reached the dragon’s skin. It was as if a small force repelled all these attacks from it.
“A shield! It’s deployed a shield around it,” Xia exclaimed as he glanced up in awe. This dragon was much larger than Long Aotian’s form. Its huge head was as large as a two storey building and its long coiled body as wide as the palace itself.
It angrily roared, sending a huge cloud of red flame into the sky. The black cloud became threateningly red. Thunder and rain followed.
Xia took Felia and Farah over to a corner. “You both stay here. I’ll go look out,”
Felia had a reluctant look, but she agreed. She glanced at her brother and sighed.
“Felia….I—I…”
“Save your word for later. I will never forgive you for what you did.” she said, shutting his excuses.
Farah softly hugged her stiff shoulders and whispered, “my dear sister, I—I thought it was for your own good that you separate from that…that beast. He is not human. Why would you love an animal?” he whispered confusedly.
“What do you know about him? He is the kindest, most decent man I’ve ever met in my life and he is so darn cute. How is he a beats, huh? I’ve seen humans who are more despicable than him. They are the real beasts, not him,” Felia snapped back at him with a glare.
Farah had no word to refute her. Her words proved to be true. The parents looking golden tribe ended up being the most black-hearted, then…maybe the beast who Felia loved might have a pure heart…..
His heart wavered. “I…”
“You don’t have to say anything. All you ever say is beast this, beast that. I don’t want to hear another refusal from you. I love Raijin, beast or man. He is the one for me. Get that through your thick head,” Felia shouted out loud, startling Farak. She softly panted, glaring up at him. “the audacity. You ordered them to capture my lover, now you are acting innocent…I hate….yo….”
“I was actually going to approve of your union,” Farah stopped her sentence mid-word.
Felia who was raging like a beast paused. She peered into her brother’s clear eyes finding no malice or bad intent. “You…..are you saying the truth?”
Farah nodded rapidly. “I believe you now. Human are indeed more despicable than you beast..No lover. I wish to give that man a chance,” he said.
“Really? Then promise to release Jin Jue and to release Raijin”
“Okay. I will order it. And who is Jin jue?” he said passively.
“My maid!” Felia shouted out loud. “You even gave her orders to protect me, yet you don’t know her name! Brother….” She said disappointedly.
“Oh okay, I will free her at once,” Farah emphasized strongly on the word free. His sister watched him with scrutinizing eyes. ‘She is still was not convinced by my words.’ Sighing, he whispered, “I approve of your marriage. This is a royal order. You can marry whoever you wish to and I will not have a say in it. As a royal princess, your lawfully wedded husband will become a prince by name and shall have all your assets, if and only of you permit it,” he said patting her little head.
Felia froze over. She glanced up at her brother. In her eighteen year of life she had been taught that she had to marry whoever that her brother saw fit.
It was the royal rule. The fate of a princess.
The fate of a royal woman in general.
When she turned eighteen, she accidentally met the prince of Ameterus. From then on her life was in complete chaos. He kept following her without her consent. Even after refusing many times, he still insisted on marriage. After a while, even her own brother agreed to their deal to marry her off to him.
Betrayal….that’s what she felt at that time. She was not able to neither refuse the royal decree nor go against her brother.
Right at that time she got to know of the news of the dragon. If she got the dragon maybe…maybe her brother would not think about marrying her off, was her thought. She hurriedly left with her maid, seeking the elusive dragon. Her journey did not bring her fruition, but it helped her make great friends and find the true love of her life.
After she was poisoned and cured, she planned to live her life peacefully in Suikal with her little puppy. But her stupid brother intervened again. This time he targeted her lover. Her whole life crashed down around her. In panic, she cried and begged, but they brutally tortured Raijin.
Now the same brother stood in front of her, giving him the same golden words. But this time….he was actually freeing her.
Freedom she craved for all her life.
She desperately clung to him and whispered, “brother…don’t lie to me…is your words true? Are you freeing me?”
Farah softly hugged her little form and patted her trembling shoulders soothingly. “Ive troubled you so much, little imp. You are free to do anything. Free to love anyone, free to live anywhere. But you have to promise one thing,”
‘Little imp,’ a childhood nickname Felia had not heard in a long while. With tears in her eyes, she glanced up at him. “What promise?”
“Promise me… promise me that you will live your life happily and in content. And if your man troubles you come find me. I will knock some sense into him,” he whispered softly.
Felia smacked his shoulders lightly. “You are not allowed to touch my puppy,”
“Okay, okay. I won’t touch him. But I’m serious, though. If he worries you anytime, come to me. Brother will take care. I’m saying this not because he is a beast, I would have said the same if you had married a human.” Farah awkwardly scratched his nose.
Felia chuckled softly and wiped her tears away. “You sound really believable,” she whispered sarcastically.
Suddenly the ground trembled below them. Felia swiftly held her brother and jumped further behind. The sudden blast threw them both a few feet up in the air. She summoned her sword in time and slashed at this mysterious force. Her wrist trembled from the recoil of the force. But thankfully because of her move, they both safely landed on solid ground.
Dust covered the road. Nothing could be seen. Felia narrowed her eyes and peered up front.
The place they originally stood was completely destroyed, leaving a huge dip in its place.
“Brother, this place is more dangerous. We need to leave as soon as possible,” Felia hurriedly whispered and pulled the weak Farah behind her.
The ground trembled again, this time associated with two huge roars. The dragon in the sky breathed a ball of fire down below and the huge grey wolf howled, bringing down hundreds of bolts of thunders onto the ground.
Felia got to a safe distance and gawked at the display. “That is my lover,” she whispered proudly. But soon her smile waned away. The huge wolf threw a thunderbolt at a cultivator displaying its side to her. The entire belly of the wolf was charred and black. Even Bloody rib bones could be seen.
“What have they done to him,” she mumbled as the wolf weakly leaned against a building.
