This Exciting Life - Chapter 10 That Was Kind Of Scary
I had barely fallen asleep when I heard loud and frightening roars from multiple directions.
Now, you may think that a proper MC in another world should be brave and rush out to kill monsters as natural as breathing, but I don’t care what you think.
Uh uh, I’m going nowhere! Chicken and me are juuust fine inside the protective barrier. Safe, warm and cozy is the best.
I crawled further into my thick blanket and curled into a big bun. I started singing to calm myself.
“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.. No eating here tonight, wuuw! No eating here tonight. I’m on a diet!”
After an hour or so, it went quiet. Like eerily quiet.
I peeked out from under my blanket and listed over to one of the windows and peeked out from behind the curtains. I couldn’t see a thing.
“Yeah. I’m not going out there.”
Though I was indeed curious, I had no knowledge on how to use my magic and would basically be nothing but a pig for slaughter if I went outside. Well, at least it was quiet now and I dragged myself back to bed.
But I couldn’t sleep. Now that I was awake and it was dark, I started to notice all the new strange sounds and inputs, like the wind caressing the branches, animals making owl-like sounds, distant roaring and screeching.
It was seriously scary even with a protective barrier. Eventually I couldn’t stay awake and off to dreamland I went, again.

Morning came and all the scary went away. Everything really seems different when it’s daytime.
After a wonderful shower, I felt clean, fresh and ready to face a new day and a new life.
I looked in the mirror and I really did look like myself, aside from a few differences. I couldn’t help but twirl and smile foolishly at my new height, bigger cup and beautiful skin. Not to brag or anything, but I really was a stunner.
“You go girl!” I laughed and high-fived the air.
After getting clothed I went into the kitchen to make breakfast. God had filled it with tons of food and spices, but it was only a one-time gesture and in the future I’d have to fill it up myself.
I still had a lot of minestrone and garlic bread left in my storage, but it was a bit heavy for breakfast and decided to make scrambled eggs and toast. I turned on the recording stone with classical music to go with my breakfast.
Yeah, a quiet morning was always the best way to start a new day.
“Oh yeah. What was that last night?” I suddenly remembered and did an aha gesture.
I peeked out the window and 50 meters away from my home, I saw a big white or was it red something in a huge puddle of blood. I suddenly didn’t feel like eating breakfast anymore.
Then I heard a whimper, no two whimpers, like crying whimpers, whimpers of grief.
I thought of my parents and the feeling of grief. It got straight into my heart and before I knew it, I was outside and running to where the whimpers came from.
