This Exciting Life - Chapter 8 Natural Birth My A..
When I woke up, I was lying in a forest. There was nothing but nature all around me. Trees, vines clinging to the trees like a snake, flowers in all sorts of colour, shape and size, loud birds, a deer family taking a drink from a pond nearby and a family of rabbit kits playing with each other.
‘Damn rabbits.” I thought. It had after all been rabbits that had resulted in my death.
It was really peaceful, just like Snow White waking up in the forest after her run-in with the scary trees, but there were no humans and no signs of civilisation. What a pickle.
I touched my stomach, it was growling. I should have asked for a snack or two. Then I realized to my very horror I was naked. I was freaking naked!
I sat up and started screaming, flailing my arms like a mad man and stomping my feet on the ground. Oh, by the way I scared away all the animals near me, but not that I blame them. I was pretty crazy right now.
“Damn you, God! Couldn’t you have given me some clothes and something to eat! What am I supposed to do now? And why did you leave me in the middle of nowhere? Of nowhere, God!”
While I was busy doing my crazy temper tantrum, a piece of paper fell down from above and landed precisely on my head. It was a letter that said:
“Dear Rebecca, by now you are probably very much awake and freaking out, but don’t worry.
Since you wanted your new life to be like natural birth, you were “born” naked.”
At that very moment, I could have killed God with my bare hands. His jokes were even lamer than my grandpa’s. And sicker too. Crazy God.
“I’ve placed you in a forest, yes. But don’t fret, I couldn’t very well transport you smack-dab into the middle of a lot of people. North of your position, there’s a village; it’s the closest one and takes approximately two days walk to get there. I’ve also placed various miscellaneous things in your infinite storage as a last gift.”
There was other unnecessary information and idle talk in the letter, but also some reminders for a “newborn” like me.
God advised me to visit The Holy City in The Holy Empire as soon as possible and pay my respect to the goddess Amaranth, who was a higher goddess in charge of this world. Hence the world’s name. She was a subordinate of his.
He also told me that while I was asleep, a protective field had been set up, but now that I was awake it was gone.
My stomach growled again, and I was still naked. And no, I’m not a pervert.
I opened my infinite storage and took a peek at the things that were placed isinde. All I can say it this, God was generous.
There was a big pot of minestrone and a loaf of garlic bread. Because the storage had no concept of time, it was like food straight out of the kitchen. There was also a big barrel of ambrosia juice.
Only much later would I and my new loved ones come to realize how amazing it really was, besides being delicious that is.
As for clothing and underwear, it was somewhat modern, but with no funny prints, outrageous colours or design. Plain, simple and merchant-like equestrian clothing with breeches and long flat leather boots. I was after all a commoner and had no need for the fancy shmancy. I could fit right in with this.
Getting a good look at my surroundings, I decided to stay for one night and take my time to get my head straight. It had been a long day.
