Chapter 197
“I suggest the client return to the country first, but what about the others?” Chu Yang wasn’t sure what to do. Sometimes she knew it was better not to know too much, as some things were too heavy to bear.
Perhaps her heart wasn’t hard enough, which was why she told Chi Yan. Otherwise, she should have pretended not to know.
Chu Yang looked at Chi Yan, realizing that by telling him, she was also seeking his opinion.
Chi Yan embraced her, “Say what you want to say. I’ll take care of the rest. Don’t be afraid, I’ll always support you!”
Chu Yang hugged him back, “If we can save more people, then let’s do it.”
“I’ll arrange it. I’ll talk to my brother.”
“Okay.”
Chi Yan stroked her head and kissed her forehead, “My dear Yang is the best.”
That evening, Chi Yan called Chi Jin, “Brother, I have something serious to tell you.”
“What’s wrong? Is it about the company?” Chi Jin thought something had happened at work.
“No, my Yang saw that there will be a big fire on St. Rees Island. Isn’t St. Rees Island a volcanic island? It might erupt. I remember our country has some business there, right?”
“What? Are you sure? This is not a small matter.” Chi Jin became very serious.
“I’m just telling you what my Yang saw. I won’t be involved in what follows. You know her abilities. It’s up to you whether you believe it or not.”
Chi Jin, who had just hung up the phone, immediately looked up information about St. Rees. He quickly found some strange recent news about St. Rees, but because few people knew about this place, these reports hadn’t received much attention.
But Chi Jin knew that their country actually had a project on St. Rees, and there were quite a few Chinese people there.
Chi Jin made several more phone calls, asking people to check for any news related to St. Rees Island.
Meanwhile, after hanging up, Chi Yan thought of his cousin and decided to call him, “Brother, do you have any business on St. Rees?”
“Where?”
“St. Rees, a small island in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s famous for red maple fish. You don’t have any business there, do you?”
Xiao Yang thought for a moment, “No, I don’t. But I know the place you’re talking about. I’ve been there for vacation before. The hot springs there are really nice. You should go there with your girlfriend sometime for a romantic getaway. But why are you asking about this?”
“It’s nothing. Just don’t go there recently. It’s not safe.”
“Is there a war or something? What’s there to fight over on that small island?”
“It’s not that. Just don’t go there. It’s not safe.”
“Alright, alright. Don’t worry, I’ve been in the country recently and haven’t gone out. Let’s have dinner sometime. By the way, I heard you joined the company? The old-timers aren’t giving you a hard time, are they? If there’s anything, just tell me. I’ll give you some advice.”
“No, everything’s fine.”
“Okay then. I’ll hang up now.”
“Alright. Bye.”
…
St. Rees Island
Zhou Guomin decided to return to his home country, “Honey, let’s pack up. I’m planning to go back next Monday. I feel it’s not safe here.”
“What’s wrong? Are you scared by the recent events? Everyone says these phenomena happen frequently, and we’ll get used to it. Besides, we’ve been here for so long. Wouldn’t going back mean starting over?”
“Starting over is fine, as long as we’re together, nothing else matters. I’m not worried about myself, but about you and the child. You’re just pregnant, and I want to see our child born. I asked an online prophet earlier, and she said something big would happen here.”
“A prophet? Honey, isn’t that a scam?”
Zhou Guomin believed it though, “No, that blogger is genuine. Anyway, let’s start packing. My heart has been pounding recently. Trust me on this.”
“Alright. I’ll listen to you.”
“If nothing really happens, we can always come back. Let’s just ask for leave, saying we’re visiting relatives.”
“Okay.”
…
The holiday had just started, and the Western fantasy game that Chi Yan had participated in designing was officially launched. It had already caused a stir during the beta testing phase, with many people making predictions. Once it went live, the system was almost overwhelmed, but thanks to Chi Corporation’s strong technology, it stabilized quickly after a brief fluctuation.
On the promotional poster, the witch’s image was placed in the second position on the side. She was wearing a black robe, holding a scepter in her left hand and a crystal ball in her right, with only her crimson lips visible. Among all the characters in the poster, only the witch’s face wasn’t shown.
“I know this one is Yi Ran, he’s so handsome!”
“Miao Miao and Miao Miao look super cute too.”
“Is the witch cosplayed? Why isn’t there a name attached?”
“It looks good, and that scepter is so beautiful, just like a real one.”
“I wonder if there’s a similar one online. I want to cosplay as the witch too.”
“I like the Elven Queen, she’s so cool!”
…
Chi Yan had also set up an account for Chu Yang, “Yang, you can play this when you’re bored. I’ve helped you max out the level.”
“Okay, sure.”
What Chu Yang didn’t know was that not only was the account maxed out, but it was also married in the game, with a title above the character’s head: Chi Xiao Yan’s Wife. Who this Chi Xiao Yan was, was self-evident.
The day of the banquet arrived. Early in the morning, someone came to do Chu Yang’s hair. It took from morning until afternoon. The salon was very high-end; while getting her hair done, she could eat, play games, listen to music – basically, she wouldn’t get bored.
So even though it took a bit longer, Chu Yang didn’t mind.
When it was done, a crowd of people surrounded her, showering her with compliments. Chu Yang thought about how powerful money truly was. In the mirror, she saw her hair slightly curled and falling behind her, with two pearl hairpins on top. Her earrings and necklace were also pearl, a complete set.
She wore a bracelet on her wrist and silver stilettos on her feet, the high heels sparkling brilliantly. She was wearing a white strapless gown, looking somewhat cold and extremely elegant.
As soon as Chi Yan entered the room, Chu Yang turned towards him. He immediately froze in place, his heart racing.
Chu Yang tilted her head and looked at him, “Hmm? Does it not look good?” FiNd 𝒖pd𝒂tes on n(𝒐)/v𝒆l𝒃𝒊n(.)c𝒐m
Chi Yan immediately stepped forward and wrapped his arm around her waist. “You look beautiful, absolutely stunning.” He gently kissed her earlobe and whispered, “You’ve just enchanted me.”
Chu Yang laughed softly, “Let’s get going.”
“No rush,” he said, taking off his own coat and draping it over her shoulders. “It’s cold outside. Wear this for now.”
“Alright.” Chu Yang adjusted Chi Yan’s coat, then linked her arm with his as they walked out together.
Outside, the driver was already waiting. The couple got into the car, and the driver set off towards their destination.
The car’s heater was on, so Chu Yang didn’t feel cold. She tried to return the coat to Chi Yan, saying, “You should wear it.”
Chi Yan took the coat but reached for another one nearby. “Keep this one with you. It might be chilly inside the venue later. You can put it on if you feel cold.”
“Okay!” Chu Yang agreed.
