Chapter 225
“No, driving to school in that would be too flashy, so I want to buy something more low-key.”
As long as she didn’t dislike the one he bought, it was fine.
“Let’s go check out Imperial Prosperity this weekend. That area has been developed now.”
“Sounds good.”
Early Saturday morning, the two of them went to Imperial Prosperity. The community was close to a subway station, with bus stops nearby and a commercial district. The transportation was convenient, and in the evenings, they could go out for a stroll, watch movies, all without needing to drive—just a short walk away.
The security measures seemed good too. Apart from residents, anyone entering or leaving had to show ID and register. The buildings were spaced out, so there was no worry about noisy neighbors above or below.
Just past the main gate was a small garden, professionally landscaped with roses, lilies, and other flowers. Entering the house, you came into the living room with the kitchen adjacent. Passing through the living room to the other side of the house, there was a swimming pool.
The second floor was the master suite, with four rooms including two bedrooms, a study, and one converted into a gym with treadmills and other exercise equipment.
The study was spacious, with several large bookshelves specifically for Chu Yang’s books, and two desks—one for each of them.
The overall decor was bright, with the style chosen by Chu Yang. From the master bedroom balcony, you could see the pool, and in the distance, a lake surrounded by trees—perfect for evening walks or dog-walking after dinner. The third floor was similar to the second.
The community also had a 24-hour supermarket, basketball courts, and playgrounds for children. Apparently, the property management organized annual basketball tournaments and other activities for residents. All in all, it was much better than Forest Garden Community.
“Let’s move in here during the summer break,” Chi Yan said, embracing Chu Yang.
Chu Yang had no objections; she thought it looked quite nice.
“I’ll have Qi Jie arrange everything.”
“Mm-hmm.”
The next day, Qian Xin’s boyfriend invited everyone out for a meal, so Chu Yang left Chi Yan behind. Before she left, Chi Yan put on a show of teary eyes, saying, “Are you really abandoning your husband and child today?”
Chu Yang rolled her eyes, “…What child?” Gẹtt the l𝒂test 𝒏𝒐v𝒆ls at 𝒏.o/(v)/e/l/bi𝒏(.)co𝒎
Chi Yan grabbed her hand and moved it downward… “Boom!” The sound was the front door closing.
They had chosen a restaurant in the city center. Chu Yang drove there with Jin Yang and Caicai. When they arrived, Qian Xin and her boyfriend were already there, looking at the menu.
Seeing them approach, Qian Xin quickly waved them over. “Come, sit down. See what you’d like to eat, order anything. Oh, this is my boyfriend, Nan Zhou. Nan Zhou, these are my roommates, Chu Yang, Jin Yang, and Zhou Caicai.”
The young man smiled and nodded at them, “Hello.”
Chu Yang and the others nodded back in greeting.
The meal started off pleasantly, but just as it was ending, Nan Zhou received a phone call. He hesitated for a moment before explaining to Qian Xin, “There’s an urgent work matter. I’m sorry, but I might need to leave early.”
Qian Xin was instantly upset, “How inconvenient!”
Nan Zhou was apologetic, “I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you all next time. I’ll go pay the bill first. After the meal, you can go out with your friends, and just ask me to reimburse you for anything you buy. I have to go now.” He apologized once more to Chu Yang and the others before leaving.
After Nan Zhou left, there was a moment of awkward silence. Jin Yang carefully asked Qian Xin, “What does your boyfriend do? Is he always so busy? It’s the weekend, after all.”
Qian Xin replied, “He’s a programmer.”
“No wonder. I’ve heard programmers are the busiest, they can get tasks at any time. But your boyfriend still has a full head of hair.”
As soon as Jin Yang finished speaking, Qian Xin laughed, “Haha, I actually asked him about that when we first met. I understand his situation though. That’s just how it is for office workers. Are you guys full? If not, we can continue eating. If you are, let’s go shopping. He said I can buy whatever I want.”
“We’re full, we’re full.”
Zhou Caicai chimed in, “At least he didn’t take it for granted and apologized. He seems like a decent guy.”
Chu Yang agreed that he seemed alright.
Qian Xin smiled happily, “Well, of course. My taste in men is pretty good.”
The four of them went shopping. Around 10 PM, Chu Yang dropped the three of them back at their dorm before returning to Forest Garden Community. Chi Yan had been waiting eagerly at home, and finally saw the familiar car return from the balcony.
Before Chu Yang could even take out her keys, Chi Yan had already opened the door.
Chu Yang was surprised, “How did you know I was back?”
Chi Yan replied, “I heard the sound.” He took her bag and hung it up, then walked with her into the living room.
“How was today?”
Chu Yang sprawled on the couch, “It was good, except Xin Xin’s boyfriend had to leave urgently just as we were finishing the meal. Her boyfriend is a programmer. Come to think of it, it’s similar to what you do, both in computer science.”
“What kind of thing couldn’t be delayed for a bit and had to make him leave right then? If it were me, I definitely wouldn’t have just left,” Chi Yan couldn’t help but show off.
Chu Yang glanced at him, “You think everyone can make their own decisions like you? You work for your own family business, so you have more freedom. In this society, there are many office workers who don’t have that luxury. Maybe when I graduate and start working, I’ll be like him too, having to apologize and leave in the middle of a date with you because of work.”
Chi Yan frowned and grabbed her hand, “Then come work at Chi Corporation.”
Chu Yang closed her eyes to rest, “We’ll see.”
Soon, it was finals week again. Because they were also moving to Imperial Prosperity, Chu Yang had been packing things up. You never realize how much stuff you have until you start packing.
Besides packing her own things, she also helped Chi Yan pack. While doing so, she found a box at the bottom of a cabinet. Curious, she opened it. The lid was a bit tight, and as Chu Yang used force to open it, her hand slipped, and the box fell to the ground with a “crash,” its contents spilling out.
They were all photos—of her, and of her and him together.
The earliest one was from when A University and B University had a debate competition. After Chi Yan’s team won, she had taken a photo with them.
Thinking back, she realized she hadn’t known him for very long at that time. They weren’t even particularly close yet, but he had already helped her stand up to Lin Shushu and the others.
Chu Yang smiled as she thought back to that time, surprised at how quickly time had passed. In the photo, the two of them were standing in the center. Chu Yang was making a peace sign, and at that moment, she seemed to be calling out to Tian Qi with a blank expression.
Chi Yan had his hands at his sides, the corners of his eyes crinkling with laughter.
Chu Yang looked at the other photos, some of which she couldn’t even remember when they were taken.
There were photos of them viewing the night scenery at North Looking Mountain, studying in the library, swimming together, participating in competitions, doing farm work at Chu Yang’s home, and even photos of Chu Yang after she had fallen asleep.
On the back of each photo was written a date, and some had sentences written as well.
