Three Years After I Was Betrayed By Humanity - CH 4.1
“What are you creating?” The black cat asked.
“Just watch and see.” I replied nonchalantly without even lifting my head because the important project in front of me required my full attention and focus.
The black cat walked and circled around my project a few times before it sat elegantly nearby, “Judging from your proficiency in robotics, I was not able to understand this… thing… just by ‘seeing’.”
I looked up in astonishment and patted my machine proudly, “You’re so unknowledgeable… This is a number machine!”
Black cat: “……”
Black cat: “I see that now, it’s my fault for being blind. Do you plan to meet the people outside?”
“Of course not.” I disintegrated two cable lines within the machine with hellfire before answering.
The black cat watched my high-leveled play and gave me a complicated look: “I suppose I’m the one that lacks proficiency in this field…”
I slammed the flap on the machine shut and stared at it for a few seconds. Something was missing… But it quickly hit me and I picked up a nearby marker pen and wrote down the words – ‘Number Machine’.
This was entirely because the machine looked nothing like a number machine, but I swear that it worked just fine.
In fact, I have to admit that though it was pretty easy to build this machine, whoever’s in charge of it will probably have a negligible issue in repairing it…
This is because, though there weren’t many who could save the world,
After all, not many had the ability to save the world, but anyone in this world could fix a simple robot such as this… Well, except me of course.
It took me about ten minutes to set up the machine, and another two hours to carve my spells on it.
In fact, I’ve used up every single defensive magic I could think of, just so that no one would have the ability to destroy it.
That’s to say, if someone were to drop a nuclear bomb on this no-man’s land, besides my cozy hut, this number machine could definitely survive the episode.
Yes, this simple-looking hut looked normal and harmless from the outside, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Try asking that highly-skilled army from the Empire that tried to sneak into my hut yesterday night to cast some weird spells on me, I believe they would have a lot to say about my quaint hut.
The black cat sprawled next to my arm for two hours quietly, only speaking up when I was finally done with my spells.
“I suppose this thing can be considered a galaxy-ranked weapon.” The black cat commented dryly.
“But of course?” I exclaimed proudly, “Considering that I’ve spent two hours on it. That’s the exact time needed for me to stop an exploding star…”
“It’s priceless.” The black cat continued.
“Thank you for your compliments.”
“So, have you not considered the possibility of it being stolen?” The black cat asked.
“…” I thought about it for a few seconds and came to a conclusion that the cat’s words do make sense, “Sigh, I can never compare to you in regards to understanding this world… Or should I say, as expected of the creator of this world?”
The black cat swayed its tail quietly, keen on ignoring my bitter words.
Anyway, my initial thought was to pin the number machine directly onto the space outside my hut so that nobody could pick it up.
But thinking of the fun times yesterday night, I suddenly had a clever and innovative idea.
I knocked the back of my knuckles on the machine in order to add some rules to it.
The black cat watched as the words appeared like magic on the robot and sighed, “You’re just playing with them, number two and three would not happen.”
“Was I not supposed to do so?” I frowned in confusion, “They used to put me in the same situation last time.”
In fact, the exact words they said were, ‘We have estimated that a hundred thousand soldiers’ lives were needed to fill up the black hole’, so I rejected that idea and proceeded to close up the black hole alone.
But three years ago, not a single one of those hundred thousand lives that I had saved indirectly, stood up for me and said “I disagree”.
There were only a couple of – “That’s not correct, right?”, “There must be a better way.”, “This isn’t fair to her.”, as for the rest, it was as if it was too laborious to even move their lips.
I understood their reasoning completely.
Firstly, scientists from all over the world had confirmed that after the fourth catastrophe, there would never be a fifth one. So, my existence had become a thorn in the Empire’s eyes: Since I had the ability to save the world singlehandedly, I could also destroy the world if I ever felt like it.
“”
Secondly…
“It’s the world’s fault.” I announced blandly.
The black cat pondered my words, “I suppose so.”
This was a world that was doomed to end.
