Through Hellfire - Chapter 10 Blood Despair And Roar
It happened simultaneously across all of Evergreen-3. A red light flashed in the horizon and disappeared the next instant.
Most people who saw it only saw it from the sides and never even noticed it due to the speed.
But a very few saw it right in front of them. One of those people was Li Ran who was still completely stunned.
He knew what the light meant.
“Damn it” He tried to resist and rotated his cultivation base but very soon a red glow took over his body and enveloped him.
He couldn’t feel the nature or energy around him, and felt like he was cut-off from the world.
All who saw the red light felt similarly, and tried to use their cultivation power but they couldn’t.
Soon, waves of tiredness began to wash over Li Ran and he fell over to the floor unconscious. Everyone who saw the light, all across the planet, fell down unconscious.
And then, in an instant that shocked anyone in their surroundings, they all vanished.

Back in Vineyard City,
Panic began to spread as a lot of people vanished. The streets were in chaos and fights broke out everywhere. Screams and cries of women and children resounded across the city.
Similar panic could be felt all across the planet, with the exception of Green Dragon City.
In Vineyard City, one of the people who vanished, was the mayor. He had been standing in his balcony watching the sunset when he collapsed and disappeared.
The news of the Mayor’s disappearance leaked out, and the strongest cultivation clans in the city began a war for power.
In less than an two hours after the mysterious disappearance, the entire city was in turmoil. Blood flowed in the streets as battle and massacres spread.
In one of the districts where the mortals lived, Hawk and his family were currently running away. They had witnessed the beginning of the chaos which still hadn’t arrived near them, but was ever imminent.
Hawk’s mother cursed their luck as she was running. This city was a lease for life for her son and her. It was the place where the last of her family, her brother lived.
Now, within a day of her arrival, their last hope was destroyed absolutely, with no hope whatsoever for recovery.
Hawk ran beside her, clutching her hand tightly. To him, the fear crept up to every corner of his being and he wished that it was yesterday, where he was with his master, Li Ran.
As they ran to the city gates, they began to find people with the same idea as them, to escape the city, running away as well.
Moments later, the city gates were visible to them, and then their pace lowered. What they saw was a huge mob of people who were fighting. Apparently, the city gates were closed and the guards wouldn’t open them, which sparked this conflict.
As the panic spread, and slaughter across the city, there was a group of people who were watching this with smiles on their faces.
The group composed of servants flanking a young man who stood under the shade of an wide umbrella, even during the night.
In his face an insidious smile was plastered.
His mannerisms and attitude represented a deep arrogance that looked down on the world.
He was Shi Qingyuan, the young master and next clan leader of the Shi Clan, the strongest of the clans in the city. The Shi clan in Vineyard City is just a branch family, that originated from another world.
The main clan occasionally supports the branch clan and sends support, which is why the current coup is in full swing.
“Pathetic Mortals… Look at them, clawing for their lives. They are in the truest sense of the word, weak.” The young master looked down upon the world of mortals in chaos.
“They don’t realise that they don’t matter at all, and still pray to the Gods. Hahaha, worms. They are all worms.”
His entourage all nodded and agreed with him. Soon fires began to burn in the streets and screams could be heard.
As Shi Qingyuan looked down with disdain he saw a group of three running towards the gate. It was Hawk, his mother and his uncle. Shi Qingyuan’s attention was drawn towards them. He could see a tiny glimmer of hope in their races that he couldn’t find in the rest of the masses.
“Ants and worms, just die beneath my feet!” Shi Qingyuan roared as he launched himself towards their direction. Something sparked in him, and he wanted to squash their hopes all by himself.
He landed right in their path, scattering dust and debris all around him, and his entourage joined him.
Before the fleeing three could do anything, small ball of fire blew over from Shi Qingyuan’s hand and smashed into Hawk’s uncle right in his chest.
Hawk’s Uncle was blown away and he crashed spine first into a wall. His torso didn’t move anymore, and a look of terror washed over him and he breathed his last the next instant.
He was unmarried due to his average appearance and occupation in a world of cultivators. His parents had died in his youth and all that he had left was his little sister Mei and her family. Just this morning, he was happy to be reunited with them but a few hours later he was dying pitifully.
Before the shock could set in, the next ball of fire was flying, this time aimed right for Hawk.
Hawk couldn’t believe what was happening and was too stricken to notice anything. When his eyes turned he saw a fireball approaching him at breakneck speed. He couldn’t move away, he couldn’t dodge.
He wasn’t fast enough.
Father. Mother. Uncle..
.
.
.
Master…
these face ran through his mind, as his eyes began to close.
But the fireball never came. There wasn’t any heat. No burning.
Something wet splashed in his face. Blood.
Then he heard a thud as something collapsed against his leg. Terror stricken, he opened his eyes and the sight horrified him.
There was blood on his body. Blood from the headless corpse which lay at his feet. The corpse was…..his mother’s.
The air went out of his lungs and he couldn’t make it come back. He collapsed onto his knees and his quivering hands moved to touch his mother.
He was just a child who wasn’t even ten years old. On the whim of a cultivator, he had become an orphan. Within mere moments, his life had turned into hell.
“Huh, the body remained? But, that was my weakest fireball.
It didn’t completely destroy the body. Hmm, my power needs to grow stronger.
One day, my weakest attacks need to destroy a city.” Shi Qingyuan spoke nonchalantly, repeatedly opening and closing his fists.
“AAAAAAAAAARGH!!” Hawk roared out to the world. There was only sorrow and rage in his voice.
There was only sorrow and rage in his world.
“Your turn!” Shi Qingyuan smiled, cruel and insidious, before turning his opened palm to Hawk.
