Chapter 432 432: The Northern Campaign II
“So Dix my dear, what can I help you people with?” Cole asked as he held on to the hand of the of the still blushing woman. It was not as if he needed to do this, but he had noticed subtly that the woman Dix seemed to be the one in charge, while Gingrim was just along for the ride. This more than showed Cole that out of all the forces in the city, not was the Adventurer’s Guild that cared for him the least.
“sorry Lord Cole, I forget myself sometimes. My Guild king in interested in having an alliance with you my Lord. We members of the Craftsman guild and of course the Adventurer’s guild feel that it would be unfair for you to just have an alliance with for militia. We too have so much that we can offer, probably much more than the kingdom itself can even give to you my Lord.
We are loved and respected and have the largest pool of wealth and resources to draw from. The Craftsman and Adventurer’s guild are not native to Te Boreas, instead what we have here are extremely successful branches. In other parts of the world our organizations have achieved great Acclaim and have significant amount of power, you want an Animech….. the Craftsman guild right now are ready and willing to build a custom one for you, in order to facilitate a good proper relationship between us all.”
“Well that’s so nice of you Dix my dear, I’m sure the Craftsman guild are sincere in their offer, I will have a delegation from Raen Valley come see your Guild King and hash out the details of any deals. We would have to see just how much the Craftsman guild can offer, my territory is rich in a lot of resources that are not otherwise always available, especially when you consider the fact that all your universe and world is starved of some very vital resources. We can help each other. ” Cole said to her as she giggled and nodded her head.
“Indeed Lord Cole, we of the Adventurer’s guild can’t wait for a chance to work hand in hand with you.” Cole paused then turned around to look at Gingrim. He had purposely been leaving the man out of the conversation, and it was not as if it was his fault entirely as the very moment Dix had started speaking she had been working an entirely different angle. The adventurer’s guild was relegated to the side.
Cole had ears of his own in the guild, and even though they had not gone as high up as he would have wanted. It was still enough for him to know that both the Adventurer’s and the Craftsman guild were at odds about how to deal with him. Of course this could just be on surface and the waters might be deeper still, but since that was an angle they were playing and Cole could feel the nervousness and annoyance from Gingrim about how close Dix seemed to be getting to Cole.
Cole wouldn’t blame him, it seemed as if he had fallen for a honey trap, this was the oldest trick in the book. If you want to bring a powerful man down, send him a beautiful woman. But Cole has had his fair share of beautiful women to deal with and frankly speaking he was tired of them. Not to mention after what Sarah had did to him, though frankly speaking he wasn’t that good either, sitting on his ass like he expected fame and fortune to come his way…a spoilt rich kid that got a hefty dose of reality.
Never the less Cole was aiming to put a wedge between the two forces, there already seemed to be cracks, it might seem superficial or a trap, but he was going to exploit it. Plus he knew he had something to offer, and even if he doesn’t have anything to offer at the moment, he had with only half his attention brought both guilds to his doorstep, imagine what he could possibly do if he decided he really wanted to deal with them, kind of like what he was doing right now.
“What can the Adventurer’s guild even offer me, some old sow from there had threatened me in front of everyone. I don’t even know if I can trust you guys to have my back, not like Dix here and her guild. You guys can help me with weapons right? So that I can protect myself from all my enemies.”
“Of course Lord Cole, without a doubt, the Craftsman guild would do everything in our power to ensure that you have the best protection money and our alliance can get you. Either way sirs, when would it be convenient for you delegation to come handle the details of the alliance between the Craftsman guild and your Raen Valley sir?” Dix said to him, conveniently cutting Gingrim out of the entire conversation.
This was the politics that Cole was talking about, she had stabbed him in the back for benefits. Plus it didn’t help that by this point the scent of Dix’s arousal was so thick, that Cole was getting uncomfortable himself. Was he that handsome? Or was this woman crazy in the head.
“I have to visit the king right now my dear, but once I’m done meeting with him, I’ll swing by your guild to pick you up for a late lunch. Then we can talk in detail my dear about what a beautiful thing like you is doing serving some old fogey from the Craftsman guild.” Dix let out a coquettish laughter as slapped his chest playfully.
“Well don’t be like that Lord Cole….. jealously is not a good look on you. But don’t worry, I’ll tell you everything at our lunch…date later today.” From then on it was just some superfluous discussions until Cole sent her and a very irate Gingrim away. Then he turned to Berin.
“Everything you know about that minx Berin….. I think if you value your life you will tell me, and explain why that bitch kept dumping aphrodisiacs every time she so much as breath.”
All Berin could do was look at Cole, gaping like a fish in shock, it seems it will take a harder lesson for people to realize…..deceit does not work on Raens!
