To Be or Not To Be A Family - Chapter 80
Yong-Sun was holding her soft hair when she was washing her face and cleansing her mouth. He kept asking him to leave even though she clearly needed help. First, she rejected his friendship, then she rejected his kiss, next she rejected his love, and now she was rejecting his help. She always accepted his help so what happened now? If she can’t love him, she won’t ask for his help?
She was making him angry. Whether his eyes were red because of crying or anger, no one could tell. After she was finished washing her face, she stood near the washbasin for a few seconds by taking support of the sink. She closed her eyes and breathed for a minute. She then started walking towards the room without speaking a word.
He suggested, “Please, take my support.”
“I can walk,” she replied, weakly.
His anger climbed up a notch. He let go of her hair, grabbed her and pinned her against the bathroom wall. She raised her eyes and looked into his eyes. They were swollen because of crying. Her heart shattered as she looked at him. A small gasp left her mouth.
She tried walking away from him but he enclosed her with his hands on both sides and stared her down. “Why won’t you let me help you?” he screamed.
She was too tired. Apart from breathing she didn’t want to do anything else, she didn’t even want to resist. He kept looking at her. Her face was white after vomiting. All the colour from her cheeks was drained. He felt bad for her. She looked tired and weak. He wanted to care for her, protect her. He was now angry at Young-Jae. Because of him, everything happened.
Why did he have to tease Ashma every single time? Why did he have to challenge her every single time? She drank because of him. She was in this condition because of him. He said that she will leave him one day and that day arrived. Why did he have to say something like that?
Ashma was tired of fighting with Yong-Sun. She placed her hands on his chiselled chest and let her head land on his chest too. She was breathing shallowly. She didn’t move. He didn’t move. The moment froze.
Yong-Sun’s heart started beating faster as she touched him. She could clearly feel his heartbeat. He clenched his fists and avoided touching her but then his heart won over his mind. He softly touched her head and started caressing her hair with all the love and care he could muster.
Ashma closed her eyes. She remained stationary for quite some time but then her knees started giving in. Her hand slid down to his torso. Her head fell backwards. She was about to fall but Yong-Sun swiftly placed his arms around her and lifted her in his arms.
He took her to the room where Hei-ran was standing at the door. She asked about her and Yong-Sun informed her about everything. After tucking Ashma in, both Hei-Ran and Yong-Sun went to their respective room and slept for a few more hours.
Ashma slowly opened her eyes. Her mouth was bitter because of her vomiting. She swore never to drink in her life again. Whatever she ate, she vomited it all. Her stomach was in knots after that. Even though it was empty she was not feeling hungry. Her head was still aching. Her whole body was in pain.
The next moment Hei-Ran arrived in her room. She caressed her hair and asked, “Ashma! Are you okay?”
“Uhh…” groaned Ashma. “A little better. I had no idea drinking is so bad,” moaned Ashma.
“You never drink that’s why,” replied Hei-Ran.
“I swear I will never drink again,” Ashma rubbed her temple and her neck.
“Ha-ha,” laughed Hei-Ran. “But I think you need another banana bag.”
“Another IV?” Ashma was surprised.
“Why? Are you afraid of needles?” asked Hei-Ran with concern.
“What? No,” replied Ashma with a smile on her face. Even the smiling was hurting her head. She immediately stopped smiling.
“If you want to feel better for today’s party you will have to get another IV,” informed Hei-Ran.
“Party?”
“Oh, right, you were not here. It is Shiahbuhji’s birthday. We are throwing a surprise party for him,” educated Hei-Ran.
“You think I will attend his birthday,” asked Ashma with attitude and anger.
“Yes, I think you will,” replied Hei-Ran with the same attitude.
“What?”
“For your mumma,” replied Hei-Ran.
“She is going to ask me, right?” Ashma shook her head in disbelief.
“Yes, and I know you will never say no to her,” said Hei-Ran.
Ashma took a deep breath and replied, “you are right.”
“But first, let’s take you home, everyone is worried for you. I will ask Yongsuna to call his friend and get another banana bag for you,” said Hei-Ran.
All the good deeds of Yong-Sun flashed before Ashma’s eyes. “Thank you, aunty,” she said and threw herself in Hei-Ran’s arms. She hugged her with gratitude.
Hei-Ran beamed with happiness after hearing the word aunty. For a girl who was not ready to accept her father or her grandfather, it was a big deal that she accepted her as her aunt. “For what?” she asked.
“For everything, you and Yong-Sun did for me yesterday,” replied Ashma.
“Let’s take you home,” said Hei-Ran.
“Where is Yong-Sun? I should thank him too,” said Ashma.
Hei-Ran smiled at her and said, “he is sleeping.” She was very happy for his son and Ashma. What she didn’t know was Ashma completely rejected Yong-Sun and he was heartbroken.
“Right!” exclaimed Ashma, disheartened.
But little did they know that Yong-Sun was awake and listening in their conversation. He saw Ashma hugging her mother, calling her aunty and thanking her. He was again angry at her. She wanted nothing to do with him but wanted to new relationship with his mother. She even started calling Hae-Won, aunty. She can have relationships with women but not with him.
He ran to his room as Ashma and Hei-Ran came out from the room. Hei-Ran drove her car and they reached the Park mansion after some time. All came running towards her to greet her. Only Young-Jae went to his office today, the rest were waiting for Ashma to arrive
“How are you? Are you feeling okay? Did you eat something? Do you want to at something? Do you want to drink something? Why do you look so weak?” as soon as she placed her foot inside the house, Bong-Cha and Vidhi showered her with questions.
“Calm down Mom, Bong-Cha, I am fine,” replied Ashma.
“You are not fine, just look at yourself,” shouted Vidhi.
“I vomited, that’s why I am so weak,” informed Ashma.
“I have messaged Yongsuna to get his friend to give her another IV. She will be better by evening for the party,” educated Hei-Ran.
“I don’t think I will be able to attend the party,” said Ashma, weakly.
“Who says what now?” shouted Eun-Kyung.
Ashma sensed that Eun-Kyung was angry at her. She immediately changed her tune, “I said I will attend the party, why did you hear?”
All laughed hard after seeing that the angry girl was scared of Eun-Kyung.
“Okay the theme is, traditional dress, I have sent some to your room for both Vidhi and you,” said Eun-Kyung.
“Mumma, I will come to the party but will wear whatever I want. It’s his party and I have no interest in attending his themed party,” said Ashma, angrily.
“But Ashu!” pleaded Eun-Kyung.
“I will be attending the party for you, not him. So I will not be doing any theme,” emphasised Ashma.
“Ashu!” Eun-Kyung pleaded, again.
“Please, mumma.”
“Okay, fine.”
“What? She gets her way every time,” complained Bong-Cha.
“You guys are not getting out of it. You have to wear a hanbok,” yelled Eun-Kyung.
“Fine, uhmma,” said Bong-Cha. Baek-Hyeon too made a defeated face.
“Let’s take you to your room. You rest, I will get some tea for you,” said Eun-Kyung to Ashma.
“I don’t feel like eating or drinking anything,” said Ashma.
“Don’t worry that tea is for an upset stomach, you will feel better,” said Eun-Kyung.
“Thank you, mumma.”
“Go to your room. Baekyeona carry her,” ordered Eun-Kyung.
“No, I can walk,” said Ashma.
“Really!” exclaimed Baek-Hyeon. He raised one eyebrow at her.
She understood his meaning. “Okay fine, you can help me.”
Baek-Hyeon lifted her in his arms and carried her to the guest room. She softly placed her on the bed and smiled at her.
“Take care of yourself. Don’t listen to Harabuhji,” said Baek-Hyeon.
“I will try,” she smiled at him.
Everyone left Ashma alone with Vidhi. “Are you okay?” asked Vidhi.
“Mom, I am fine.” Vidhi tilted her head and gave an angry look to Ashma. “Mom, I will be fine,” Ashma corrected her sentence.
“That’s better.”
“Are you okay?” asked Ashma.
“I am more than okay,” Vidhi was beaming with happiness as her plan was coming together. She was getting closer to Young-Soo.
“Good,” smiled Ashma.
All day the whole house was busy with the decorations. Every few hours one or the other family member would come and take a look at her. Everyone was taking special care of her. Eun-Kyung was feeding her tea after tea. In-Ho prepared a special meal for her, light soup. She drank it all.
In the afternoon, Yong-Sun arrived with Ryan Seung. Ashma avoided looking at him. He too was not looking directly at her. Seung noticed that. He gave her the IV and stood next to Yong-Sun.
“What happened? Did you guys fight?” muttered Seung.
“None of your business,” replied Yong-Sun.
“Oh, did she scold you because you took advantage of her while she was drunk?” asked Seung.
“SHUT UP!” Yong-Sun gritted his teeth.
